OBAMARAMA DROPS BOMBA ON U.S. MILITARY

First, sorry I've been absent this week. Lots going on at work and we have a wedding next week.

The intelligent-yet-moderately-combative alampi asked me to look into something for him. Seems a Capt. Jeffrey S. Porter of "TF Wastach" in Bagram, Afghanistan was unimpressed with Obamarama's whirlwind tour of earlier this week. I'm not able to find conclusive evidence of the validity of either Capt. Porter or TF (task force) Wastach.

Because I can't verify the validity of the alledged officer's complaint, I'm not going to re-post it. I will note, however, that alampi received the report from a retired USAF lieutenant colonel who had received the Distinguished Flying Cross. Make of that fact what you will.

All this said, it raises an interesting issue about Obamarama.

Today, Obama basically said "thanks-but-no-thanks" to wounded American veterans.

Earlier this week, Obama decided to pull the American flag from his plane.

And, yet, the American media continues to fawn over their Messiah without so much as a critical thought or word.

But the truth is eeking out slowly. The following is excerpted from a blog that contained the nebulous letter by Capt. Porter.

Watching what has become ObamaTV, 24/7 alphabet network coverage of every Obama “er – ah – uh – hm – uh – huh – er” uttered, it’s clear that the mainstream American media is desperate to demonstrate Obama’s readiness to be the big cheese by showing the fantastic rock-star welcome he is receiving abroad.

To the average American onlooker, the term “Obamessiah” looks more and more appropriate as the news networks work around the clock to show how Europe and the Middle East react to his arrival as if he were indeed the second coming… The propaganda has boosted Obama to a 4 point lead over McCain this week.

But how real are those rock-star images being beamed around the globe via satellite for American voter consumption back home?

In an MSNBC interview with Chris Matthews, who was busy doing his usual stumping for Obama, respected field reporter Andrea Mitchell reported:

“Let me just say something about the ‘message management’. He [Obama] didn’t have reporters with him, he didn’t have a press pool, he didn’t do a press conference while he was on the ground in either Afghanistan or Iraq. What you’re seeing is not reporters brought in. You’re seeing selected pictures taken by the military, questions by the military, and what some would call 'fake interviews' ‘cause they’re not interviews from a journalist. So, there’s a real press issue here. Politically it’s smart as can be, but we have not seen a presidential candidate do this in my recollection ever before.”

Matthews completely ignored what Mitchell said and tried to return to stumping for Obama. Matthews tried to get Mitchell to confirm his rock-star interpretation of the Obama visit, but Mitchell again responded, “I can’t really say that. I just can’t report on what was edited out...that’s my issue. We don’t know what we are seeing.”

Mitchell, who is by no means a right-leaning reporter, is pointing out that everything Americans are seeing beamed from abroad is manufactured for voter consumption under the cover of a complete media blackout during the Obama trip. They are “staged” photo ops.

As a former journalist, this is truly terrifying. We constitutionally protect a free press so that it will act on behalf of the public interest (and to make money for itself, of course). But when the free press voluntarily forfeits its freedom and abrogates its responsibility, we make a huge leap toward fascism and totalitarianism.

IRAQ - A SUCCESSFUL AMERICAN EFFORT AT FREEDOM

Barack Obama has made his first visit to Iraq over the weekend. He had been one of the few U.S. senators who had not visited the country during our military's deployment there. I suppose his desire to be president overshadowed his fear or embarrassment; so, this week, he finally showed up.

My friend James is currently serving in Iraq. He doesn't really mention Obamarama. But in the following report direct from the successfully growing nation, he outlines how those people who opposed the War on Islamofascism in that country were obviously misguided.

Enjoy . . . and visit his Facebook to say "hi":

Greetings:

All is well here in Iraq. We are making a difference in the lives of thousands, and the progress we have made in the last few months is nothing short of incredible. First hand, we have witnessed a dramatic conversion transpire. The transformation is not only real, but obvious and quantifiable. Months ago our mission routes were menacing stretches of road plagued with apprehension. Prejudicially, every civilian vehicle and person was suspect. Iraqi support existed, but generally in latent form. Any sense of security seemed directly dependent upon the efforts of our fellow servicemen and women. This has radically changed. Today, the environment is much different. The creepy roads of yesterday are now stable thoroughfares heavily patrolled by Iraqi police surprisingly comparable to our interstate highways at home. The naturally prejudicial anxiety toward unverified civilian traffic has been replaced with confidence in the searches and ID checks performed continuously by Iraqi Police stationed at the now numerous fixed and random checkpoints recently established at regular intervals along our routes. Only months ago we required civilian traffic to remain stationary along the side of the road, and any vehicle that did not was highly suspect as a possible vehicle borne IED. Today, we encourage the Iraqis to keep their nation’s products on the move, the products that are nourishing the booming free economy that is flourishing all around us. We are traveling in fluidity with civilian, commercial, and industrial traffic as we would in the United States.

I had addressed in my last SITREP, the great honor that we feel as we pass the young Iraqi children who cheer us on like super heroes. Today, the Iraqi Police and Iraqi Army have become the inspirational heroes. Not only for the people of Iraq, but for myself and my troops as well. Every time I see an Iraq Police vehicle blazing down the road beneath red and blue lights, I myself become like a child at the edge of my seat rooting for the good guys. On one of our missions, I was blessed with the opportunity to witness the in-processing of hundreds and hundreds of new Iraqi Police recruits. They are wonderful guys and the expressions on their faces reminded me much of when I went through basic training some years ago. The similarities between recruits here and at home are striking. Each young patriot left his home and loved ones to serve a cause greater than himself, and like our young men and women back home each found himself holding one personal bag while standing in long lines with sweat dripping down his face. It was truly beautiful and like many things I experience here, I needed to turn away and compose myself before being caught tearing up in front of my troops.

The training centers are turning out hundreds of fully trained and equipped Iraqi troops each month. With every Iraqi checkpoint we pass, a culmination of admiration and pride overcomes me; admiration for these wonderful patriots risking all for the freedom and defense of their countrymen, and pride in our part and contribution to this story which is nothing short of marvel. For centuries playwrights have aspired to envision inspirational dramas depicting the human condition through heroic characters overcoming countless challenges along an emotional and sometimes scary roller-coaster of fear and hardship. From one act to the next, audiences fall more deeply in love with their hero who courageously traverses the skepticism against irrational odds. They become frustrated with his stubborn rejection of their calls from the seats to turn back or to hold the dice. Superficially they are aggravated by the hero’s refusal to ignore even the smallest infraction against honor while leaving his stable home and family on a quest of principle against an ambiguous evil. But deep within their hearts they understand their need for heroes and these characteristics that make them heroic.

In the classic storyline, goodness is in the meek and innocent who have hungered in fear and captivity with broken spirits under cruel, manipulative, and self-serving villains. The heroes are those who courageously sacrifice all for love of the innocent, against the evil that surrounds them. The evil exudes from the supreme villain who uses every vice of lust, hate, power, and greed imaginable to deceive and manipulate even the once good men against the heroes. The villain is the master of deception and will speak in sweet tongues or may fake defeat and slither away only to strengthen and strike again when the hero is off-guard. Often times the evil wins over the support of all characters cast, leaving the hero alone, rejected, betrayed, and on his knees staring to the sky with nothing left but himself and the principle for which he is fighting. Upon this tragic moment rests the most intriguing aspect of screenplay. Members of the captivated audience bite their nails eagerly in anticipation for what they know will occur. On cue, in fulfillment of all that their heart desires, their hero rises to his feet and with divine will defeats evil, frees the innocent, and restores justice for all mankind. The innocent thus need only rest in faith upon the strength of the heroes and their ability to persevere upon principle through the deceptions, until the day when the curtain falls upon the villains, and the deception is lifted to unveil the light upon the smiling faces of the innocent and tested righteous who remain.

I cannot say that I have perceived all evils, nor have I seen any villains per se. But I can say that in this hot, dirty, and barren land I have witnessed true beauty. In the eyes of the children here I have witnessed pure innocence. With thumbs in the air holding each-other on tippy toes to extend even one inch higher I have witnessed genuine optimism, faith, and inspiration. From the gracious waives of elders on porches I have seen appreciation. Upon the faces of Iraqi Police Recruits I have seen true courage. In the handshakes and hugs between patriots from all over the world I have seen authentic goodness and selfless teamwork. In the expressions upon the faces of your brothers and sisters, sons and daughters, husbands and wives reading letters from home I have seen love in its purest form. In the sweat and dirt upon their faces I have seen genuine sacrifice, and in their presence I have seen heroes. This is the human condition. This is the storyline that transcends all time, people, and imagination. It is playing out before our very eyes and it is what life is all about. This experience is what makes life worth living and I am thankful for every day.

Your heroes are in good shape. They are of high spirits, and their work will provide inspiration to mankind for generations to come. Soon will be the day when you will embrace them once again. We will all wipe the tears of happiness and pride from our eyes. I know that you are proud of them as I am proud; but most importantly be proud of the cause for which they have worked so hard. Be proud, as we are proud, of our wonderful nation and that for which it stands. That so long as our flag flies, all of the innocent in the world may maintain faith that there are still heroes taking the fight to evil, and that one day all may enjoy their divine rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Peace does not exist while people are oppressed, nor does a peacemaker with closed ears to their cries for help. Righteousness does not exist while the unrighteous persecute the innocent, nor do righteous men who standby while it occurs. One thing is certain; the spread of freedom and prosperity is the tenet upon which any hope for world peace finds rest. Be proud to be an American, for after witnessing the loveliness of her efforts here, I can think of no greater privilege.

God Bless, and LET FREEDOM RING!!!!

DEATH TO PACIFISM

"They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious. 'Peace, peace,' they say, when there is no peace."

    - Jeremiah 6:14

"Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn 'a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law — a man's enemies will be the members of his own household.'"

  - Jesus, Matthew 10:34-36

"I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! But I have a baptism to undergo, and how distressed I am until it is completed! Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division. From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other, three against two and two against three."

- Jesus, Luke 12:49-52

Jesus went straight to the Temple and threw out everyone who had set up shop, buying and selling. He kicked over the tables of loan sharks and the stalls of dove merchants. He quoted this text:

   'My house was designated a house of prayer;
You have made it a hangout for thieves.'

Now there was room for the blind and crippled to get in. They came to Jesus and he healed them.

When the religious leaders saw the outrageous things he was doing, and heard all the children running and shouting through the Temple, 'Hosanna to David's Son!' they were up in arms and took him to task. 'Do you hear what these children are saying?'

Jesus said, "Yes, I hear them. And haven't you read in God's Word, 'From the mouths of children and babies I'll furnish a place of praise'?"

Fed up, Jesus turned on his heel and left the city for Bethany, where he spent the night.

- Jesus, Matthew 21:12-17

Jesus Christ was not a pacifist. His own words as cited above are conclusive proof of His mission and intent.

Modern Hebrew has about a dozen different applications for the word "peace" (shalom - שָׁלוֹם). Some scholars believe there may have been as many as 50 different applications during the time of Christ.

When I say the English word "rock", I could be referring to a piece of earth that has geologically formed into a single, cohesive unit: rock. Or I could be commanding someone to sway or move in a rhythm while maintaining a stationary location: rock. Or I could be referring to a genre of music made popular in Western culture during the late 20th through early 21st centuries: rock.

Yet we think that whenever we see the word "peace" appear in the Bible - and especially in proximity to Jesus - we assign it the modern Western ideal of absence of conflict. Worse, we ascribe this condition to Jesus and make it a permanent element of His character, conveniently discarding His humanity and the biblical record that we know doesn't mesh with our preconceptions.

Jesus was often loud. There were times he needed to be.

Jesus was often confrontational. There were times he needed to be.

Jesus was not a man of peace. His time did not require it.

And His ending as King of the Jews was anything but peaceful. But He will be the Prince of Peace.

There is a very dangerous school of thought that has oozed into Western culture, both the Christian Western culture and the secular Western cultures. This poisonous doctrine has largely come to us from Eastern theologies, but it also had roots in the earliest sects of the Protestant Reformation.

I am referring to pacifism.

Pacifism is the idea that the absence of physical violence is the ultimate moral value. It is the elevation of a lie to a place of worship in the place of God. Pacifism says the absence of physical violence is of greater value than life itself. In fact, says the pacifist, only pacifists are moral enough to shed their own blood for their cause; the rest of us are sinful imposters, pretenders to their throne of morality and usurpers of true ethics.

Recently, several people I am close to have bought into this lie. It’s especially hard to witness because at least one of them was once at least nominally a Christian. Since this person has fallen under the New Age influence of pacifistic nirvana they have become unprincipled and anti-American. Peace – that is the absence of violence – is now a goal that can be used to rationalize any number of sins. The United States, this person believes, is a force for evil and its government has not been freely elected for over a hundred years.

Truth, of course, cannot be used to bring deceived people such as this back to reality because they have created their own truth and a separate “reality”. The modern pacifist movement is so insular, it has truly become cultic.

When attempting to explain the necessity for American military action (in particular in Iraq and Afghanistan), I have often spoken the words of John Stuart Mill. His brilliant refutation of pacifism stands as the most eloquent and succinct critique of this cowardly - and ultimately spiritually destructive - philosophy.

But war, in a good cause, is not the greatest evil which a nation can suffer. War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things: the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks nothing is worth a war, is worse. When a people are used as mere human instruments for firing cannon or thrusting bayonets, in the service and for the selfish purposes of a master, such war degrades a people. A war to protect other human beings against tyrannical injustice – a war to give victory to their own ideas of right and good, and which is their own war, carried on for an honest purpose by their free choice – is often the means of their regeneration. A man who has nothing which he is willing to fight for, nothing which he cares more about than he does about his personal safety, is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. As long as justice and injustice have not terminated their ever-renewing fight for ascendancy in the affairs of mankind, human beings must be willing, when need is, to do battle for the one against the other.”

- John Stuart Mill, “The Contest in America”, 1862

BUSH LIFTS U.S. DRILLING BAN - OIL PRICES TUMBLE

Yesterday, President George W. Bush lifted an executive order that had banned offshore drilling in virtually all U.S. coastal waters.

Today, the price of a barrel of oil has fallen by over $10.

Coincidence?

The U.S. Congress still has a ban on the practice of offshore drilling that must be lifted before companies can drill for oil.

SEE - THIS IS WHY I CAN'T TAKE DAYS OFF FROM THIS BLOG

Sheesh! I try to have a quiet, relaxing weekend . . . and all you-know-what breaks loose!

  • Fannie Mae (Federal National Mortgage Association) and Freddie Mac (Federal Home Loan Mortgagae Corporation) hit an iceberg and start taking on water, raising the spectre of even more federal intervention and bailout. This is very reminiscent of the savings and loan crisis that happened back in the mid-80s . . . a fact the the McCain campaign had better be prepared to defend itself against (although, U.S. News & World Report is saying McCain may be in better shape in this race than we thought).

  • Tony Snow, the man who brought integrity and style back to the position of Bush administration White House Press Secretary after the lackluster and ultimately-self-serving Scott McClellan, died Thursday night. He was 53. Mr. Snow died of complications due to treatment of colon cancer. While not as unexpected as the recent death of Tim Russert, Snow's passing leaves a tremendous void in conservative broadcasting.

  • The New Yorker magazine cover cartoon humorously depicts Barack Obama dressed in his previous Muslim madrassa schoolwear while fist-bumping his wife Michelle, who is toting an AK-47, as the American flag burns in the fireplace and a portrait of Osama bin Laden hangs in the Oval Office where they are standing. The cartoon is hilarious in its absurdity. No one seriously considers the Obamas to be (quite) this crazy. And that is exactly why it should be funny to both Obama supporters and critics alike.

But Obamarama has become self-righteously indignant, further demonstrating Obama's own personal absence of humor. They are calling the cartoon "tasteless and offensive", according to Obamaramaite mouthpiece Bill Burton.

Hopefully, the media will tell Barack the same thing they will tell McCain when they slander and insult him: Get over it.

  • The other day we explored how Barack and Brak may have been twins separated at birth
    Barack brak
Then, early last week, two of this nation's great institutions became mired in inappropriate dealings and both had previous connections to one of this year's high profile presidential candidates. Is there any relation between these two?
