Name: TL
Gender: Female

Interests: First on my list: I adore my husband and enjoy making a comfortable home for us. My family is such a huge part of my life, children, daughters in law, grandchildren, my parents, sisters and my brother. Being an artist, of course, the realm of art is very important to me. I love to paint, and read. I listen to audio books so I can work and "read" simultaneously. I love to travel. I enjoy hiking with my husband and I simply thrive when I am able to go camping. I value a clean and organized home... but ... and the vastness of the word "but" speaks volumes. I enjoy leisurely bike rides and walks. I scrapbook, enjoy playing board games like Scrabble, Pictionary, Cranium and Scattergories. In this blog you will see alot of initials instead of names. The following is a key to help you decipher of whom I write: Hubby: my husband of almost 30 yrs ~ JS: older son ~ Vee: older son's wife ~ JC: younger son ~ AzDaisy: younger son's wife ~ C, K and J: Grandkids
Expertise: Painting, learning, proofreading, researching, trivia, spending time with my family

So many beautiful cathedrals

The green color around the doors in the apartment building above is called Haint Green... it's to keep the ghost that roam in the jail across the street from wandering over and haunting the apartment dwellers

Charleston has the largest number of historical homes in the United States

The mortar on some of the historical buildings were pointed with a mason's rule to make them just a little nicer.

One of the most famous places to eat in Charleston...

on the table they have boiled peanuts for appetizers...

Some famous patrons ate here:

I wasn't being a "peeping tom"... this is a public bed and breakfast that we rambled by on  our "after supper evening stroll" .

This lovely home was built by the Governor of South Carolina, Governor William Aiken, in 1818.  In 1975 it was discovered  still occuppied by one of the former governor's descendants.  At the time the descendant was only living in 3 rooms of the house and all the other rooms had been locked and not disturbed since 1858.. Many objects can still be found in the rooms for which they were purchased.

We are looking at a few hot days this week.  It's only April, we should not be in the 90s yet!  Yikes!

I can't believe you can watch TV while pumping gas... this is a gas station  nearby my son's house.

Hubby and I are going to visit my parents in Atlanta soon so the next few days will be filled with doing laundry, cleaning out the fridge, packing and cleaning my house.  I like to wash our bed linens when we leave for a trip so I can come back to clean sheets.

YAY! CLEAN SHEETS!

What is one of the last things you do before leaving for a trip to make your return more pleasant?

Well, several things are behind me now.  Hubby finished the taxes and helped our son do his taxes and I am done with the 6 restaurants that I started last week.  All done and done.  I don't think I'm hankering to paint another window for a while...I finished 64 windows total.  The picts below are just some I took of my paint as I was mixing away!  See the fun and happy little bubbles blipping up to the surface

paint and garage sale (2)

At least I didn't have to come up with a fresh new design for every spread, it was the same message on all the windows.

Sunday JC (my younger son, husband to AzDaisy) came over to work on his taxes.  While here he passed his kidney stone... such a time for rejoicing!  He was very relieved because tomorrow he is flying to Atlanta for his fishing trip with Grandpa Terry.

I was downtown painting last week and I couldn't pass up this scene:

  paint and garage sale (5)

HILARIOUS!  The boredom of the lady reading the paper and waiting for the bus juxtaposed to the drama on the other side of the pole was so entertaining.  By the look of the copper on the right, the drunk man being frisked must have been entertaining in his own right! *shakes head in wonder*

I was also witness to this delightful scene:

A couple of police officers pulled up to the local Starbuck and parked their ponies while they nipped in for a frappaccino!

paint and garage sale (6)We had a delightful time at our multi family garage sale on Saturday... we all left with cash in our pockets and warm fuzzies in our hearts from time spent together.  After the garage sale hubby and I whisked ourselves away to our brother in law's father's funeral.  He had died on Monday, he had Parkinson's disease and he died of pneumonia.  Very sad.

Right now that is all the newsy news I can think of.  I'm off to read some of your posts!

Let's All Do a Happy Dance!!

Today went OK I suppose.  The first half of the day I painted two messages on 5 windows and was subjected to a huge sports party.  A local Sports Talk Radio Station  (KTAR) was doing a remote broadcast from the restaurant that I was painting.  It was loud, loud, loud!  Did I say LOUD?  They broadcasted all day at the highest decibil that the human ear can withstand.  Plus they had all kinds of games for the public to play Wii, Guitar Hero.  My ears were ringing!  The second half of my day was spent 15 feet from the intersection of two major arteries that feed a billion people into Ahwatukee (the world's largest cul de sac) painting 3 more large windows.  I didn't have the "party" to contend with but I did have cacti, bugs, traffic, exhaust fumes and glaring sunlight.  Funny thing, I liked it way better than the morning job.  As I was finishing the job I got the dreaded phone call...*dum dum dum*  the client called me and said she forgot to tell me to paint a vital piece of information into the message banner at the bottom of the window splash I and "could you just squeeze it in somehow?"   Now there is not a signpainter in this world that doesn't take pride in the the design and balance of their signs so you know what I did...sure, I just re-did the entire bottom banner.  That made for a late day.  I finally left for home at 7pm.  Of course, it was too late to hurry home and cook dinner so I stopped at Panda Express for hubby and me after I gassed my truck and went to the library to stock up on audio books for the long week.  I got home at 8 pm.  Now, dirty and stinky, I sit here posting ... what am I thinking???  I'm thinking that in less than 12 hours I have to go out there and do it all again!
