Charleston...

So many beautiful cathedrals
The green color around the doors in the apartment building above is called Haint Green... it's to keep the ghost that roam in the jail across the street from wandering over and haunting the apartment dwellers

Charleston has the largest number of historical homes in the United States

The mortar on some of the historical buildings were pointed with a mason's rule to make them just a little nicer.

One of the most famous places to eat in Charleston...
on the table they have boiled peanuts for appetizers... Some famous patrons ate here:

The hushpuppies were the best I've ever had... sorry about the blurry photo here... I must have been drooling.
I wasn't being a "peeping tom"... this is a public bed and breakfast that we rambled by on our "after supper evening stroll" .
Saturday in the park...

This lovely home was built by the Governor of South Carolina, Governor William Aiken, in 1818. In 1975 it was discovered still occuppied by one of the former governor's descendants. At the time the descendant was only living in 3 rooms of the house and all the other rooms had been locked and not disturbed since 1858.. Many objects can still be found in the rooms for which they were purchased.

Carriage house and outer courtyard

The privey above... and beneath the privey seat below...
No flash was allowed in the home so the result was poor photo quality... sorry.

Oldest building in Charleston (above) was used to store magazines... the shootin' kind, not the reading' kind!
Church Cemetaries... my favorite. This one dates from the 1600s.

These three little boys died within days of each other... then the father died in the necxt year...I can ony imagine the heartbreak that filled the parents' lives after the loss ot their boys.

Fallen dried pecan tree catkins resting in peace on an ancient tombstone.
