  • Alive

    I am alive.

I have been gone a long while.

    Did you miss me?

    Today is my birthday.

Since I left, I have worked through the summer at kamp, visited Atlanta, Dallas, and spent some time in Florida. Now I'm back.

I have been decorating my new house. I am not good at it, and...it is expensive to make it look like home.

Did you know I have changed jobs? Sort of.

There was 3ish or more months...in a nutshell.

  • Let the Joint Rockin' Begin!

I am headed out the door of the office in about 2 minutes. And counting. Let loose into the warm Friday afternoon air like a small yipping spaniel trapped inside the house all day. One...two...three...RUN!

And then I'm headed to Memphis.

Awake, and then drive to Nashville.

Arrive, and then run 26.2 miles. My very first marathon. I've been training since January, so its about time the goal finally came to fruition. I don't do so hot when I don't get to see results sooner.

Anyway, I'll be allowing the streets of Nashville to rock and jar my body and joints Saturday morning if you feel like tossing a prayer up in my behalf. I'm stoked. I've got so many friends coming in from so many different segments of my life, I am not sure how I am going to see them all while I'm there.

Provided they don't take me out on a stretcher. Yeah. Thats a fun fact for you. For every 40,000 runners who attempt a marathon, one of them dies. No joke. Someone died earlier this year in Arkansas at a Marathon my friends were at.

So lets pray the stats are in my favor.

I'll run until my legs fall off this weekend, and then I close on my new house on Monday. Then back to brokeness and Ramen noodle meals on Tuesday. Big week for me!

I'll post you some pictures upon my (hopefully) triumphant return.

    SEE YA!

  • Snowball Rolling

    Whew!

It's been a crazy past two weeks, but a phenomenal past two weeks all the same.

    Vacation..done. Awesome. Rockin.

Office...crazy. Kamp is coming. Lots to plan. And it will just get faster as we go.

Marathon...soon. Coming up April 26th. Less than a month. Longest run before then is this weekend.

Weekend...AH! Leadership team for kamp. Coming in. No sleep. Lots of fun. Weird town to frolic in.

The beach was a refreshing week with two great friends, and doing absolutely nothing...well, nothing, if you call laying on the house deck, laying by the pool, laying on the beach, laying on a couch, riding bikes by the ocean, taking walks down the beach, eating at local seafood joints, exploring the town that they made "Truman Show" in (that is where we stayed..sweet!) and all around just chillin...nothing.

So good. Met Shoush in Dallas, scraped aboard our flight at the last possible second (seriously, the economy lot might as well have been in Deleware, and then the shuttle driver must have been a Branson Native because he couldn't have driven much slower) but I made it to the plane.

We exited the Atlanta baggage claim to find Jenny's mom waiting with her Suburban behind her. She was headed to Memphis. She handed us the keys. To a fully loaded, gas tank full, sleek black SUV that we can take to the beach.

"Have fun." She says. "And if you want to drive halfway tonight when Jenny flies in, there is an envelope with money in it for a hotel room in the middle console."

    Awesome.

Beach...can't explain it. Company, more than I could ask for. Just two very wise friends with alot to say on life, alot of love for Jesus, and some crazy life experiences that show their faith has been tested and refined, and it makes what they say that much more powerful. I left with perspective, I left with new ideas, I left inspired.

    Now I'm back. Office time.

And house news again...as my life gets ready to roll into the unknown...I officially signed a contract on Friday and I will be a homeowner in less than a month.

Talk about wild. Who woulda' thunk it?

  • Spirng Break Never Dies

So, for all or most highschool-ish age kiddos and college age quasi-adults, the following weeks mark some sort of Spring Break adventure or extravaganza...to some degree.

In the highschool days of North, the school would wait and anticipate the return of the Sr. Trip to Cancun, and all the rancid and hopefully mostly untrue stories that would come with it. I avoided this disaster, although I can't speak the same for all my friends.

In the college days at OSU, I usually hopped aboard whattever bandwagon of well behaved Pi Phi's that was passing by, which led to all sorts of fun places from Copper Mountain skiing to Destin basking in the sun to Carlsbad and the White Sand desert of New Mexico....and usually this trip was proceeded by a trip with Cody and his family to the Big 12 hoops tourny. Back when OSU was dominant. *tear*

Some of our viewing public have been shuffled into a work force which either A. doesn't allow them a spring break... B. they choose to save their vacation days for other times... or C. even if they want to go on vacation, all of their friends are still at the office manhandling their cubicle.

All that said, there is once again a Spring Break plot afoot for me, as I head to Dallas tonight to hop a plan with Shoush tomorrow to fly to Atlanta and pick up another friend Brock and then head to RoseMary Beach, which nestles itself somewhere between Panama City and Destin.

    I am quite pumped.

Below: Last year: Spring Break with Shoush. For Free. MANSION in Naples Florida with our friend Brad and his family.  Who owns it. Never mind his dad used to play in the NFL and run the Chicago Stock Exchange semi underground. His brother played in the NFL as well, and his brother's wife is broadway star Heather Headley. Quite the fam.

The goal this year...to find another Spring Break with similar vibes and auras of "Free-Ness."

Below: My post kamp beach vacation with Brock. K-Institute friend. She's amazing. Same who I went to see in Boston and NYC this Christmas. We are returning to the same beach house as we did after summer. Which is FREE. Her brother owns it but doesn't time-share it anymore.

The goal of awesome-ness free-ness has been accomplished. It is going to be a blast!! Couldn't imagine anyone better to be heading to the beach with TOMORROW! YEAH!

Then...back to being a desk drone until May....I can make it....

  • Needy of your HELP...

    Hello all!

More specifically, I need you help if you are in OKC...maybe.

I am driving back to Okie land this weekend to drop the dog you see pictured in the previous blog entry below at my parents house before driving to Dallas to fly to Atlanta to pick up a friend and drive to Florida...follow?

Anyway, my mom just had surgery (she is fine but can't move much) so the dog can't stay and I am going to board her. It's going to cost me a pretty little penny to do so...so anyone want to keep a Black Lab this coming week?

    Monday thru Friday morning?

No takers? I had to try.

Be ready for some fun updates Florida style once this week is done....
