| IM WRITING AGAIN!!!... and alas I have moved. hope to see ya there!!! | | |
| A Time of Recollection Well summer is officially over, folks, and that means that all the big budget blockbuster no-holds-barred adventure has come to a stop (until the quick spurt that is the holiday season). As I look back it was a pretty damn enjoyable summer at the movies, much better than last year for sure. Let us revisit some good times. Mission: Impossible-III got the ball rolling making me wonder, "is this any good or can I just not focus because of the douche that Tom Cruise has become?" I'm going to op for the second one. The film was a blast [no pun intended] but it would've been so much better if I didn't know anything about Cruise's scientology ass. Cars proved to me that Pixar can find a way for automobiles to be somewhat morbid while still finding a place in our hearts. Not Pixar's best but is still worth the honorable mention. Their best looking most definetly. And I'd also like to point out how much I enjoyed Click. I mean, really, I like that movie. Who knew Adam Sandler could bring us a bullshit free movie? Not this guy! He's still not the greatest actor because it says somewhere in his contract that he has to do that signature yell in every movie no matter what and he is forced to play the same character in everything. However I never thought that I'd include crying and depression into an Adam Sandler comedy. Superman Returns is an interesting story for me to tell; see I'm not a Superman fan yet I found the movie quite enjoyable. It definetly hooks you on its grand scale and teaches us all that when a superhero gets you pregnant and you date someone else right after and have sex with him, your boyfriend is still going to find out.Pirates of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest was one of the most enjoyable films of the year but not without its plot holes such as Will's teleportation ability and a fight scene that goes nowhere. But that's easy to look behind due to it's consistent level of excitement that never leds up throughout the coarse. And the records show, over one billion dallars now, it's probably a little bit good. I can sum up Clerks II and Talladega Nights up pretty well by saying the they're two of my favorite comedies of recent times and work in the same way Pirates does with the consistent level of interest and well paced story. And yes, I know Clerks II by heart now you little porch monkeys. Snakes on A Plane was right of my alley of cult campy horror cinema so of course I loved it.
and now, the condensed movie news you musat know...
George Lucas is planning on leaving movies because they're "too expensive" and focus on TV. His smash hit "Clone Wars" is going to be made into a 3d Animated series (not sure why) and a second Star Wars series is being made for Fox. That, however, is live action (god help us). Frank Miller's 300 trailer hit the web today. The story centers around a Spartan army of three hundred that took on a ten-thousand army of Persians. The flick is being directed by Zach Snyder (Dawn of The Dead remake). You can view the trailer here: Apple. In other news, director, John Favreau has casted Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark (aka Iron Man). Weird, huh? Iron Man will be released in 2008.
REVIEWS
"Jackass: Number Two" Okay, I'm sure this review doesn't have to go any further than one paragraph. This is the kind of movie which proves that comedy is so incredibly subjective. For whatever reason someone can enjoy people getting shot, flying off rockets, getting punched by random objects, or just eating crap is beyond me. Yet I still found everyone in the theatre laughing their lungs out. Jackass: Number Two is just what the doctor ordered in the slum as mediocre september movies. I will also defend it in the fact that it is a movie to all those neysayers; it provides audiences with entertainment through the mdium of a motion picture ::sticks tongue out in a mature fashion::. I will say that this always kept you interested no matter how far they took it. I will say that on occasion they did spring some things on you that in were in no way pleasing to watch or swallow [damn, today is a day of puns for me] but redeemed itself after those stunts with someone getting smacked in the balls. So overall, don't take mom but take your friends. FINAL GRADE:B

| OH HOW LONG IT HAS BEENWell, if it isnt apparent, I've not had as much time as I would have hoped for for lil ol thing. However, now that I find my self starting up another healthy session of school, a time window opened up? That's just weird. Anywho, for those of you following, I finished up [my flick] Friday of The Dead and we;ll soon be starting the sequel, Summer of The Dead. I've also gotten reinterested in doing A Perfect Doomsday so hopefully I'll have some sort of a script soon. Oh, look at me, lookin all professional, its sooo cute. Sorry... that was my other half mocking me. :(
So yeah, guess I'm back. | | |

| Doo da da doo doo,
2006 is underway and we're off to a kickass start.
These January opening are record breakers and will hopefully maintain
all throughout winter and spring. See, January is usually a cold time
for movies but its surprisingly luke warm right now. The 50million
dollar Underworld scored with 28 mill this weekend making it the 4th
biggest January opening ever. Last week also help up quite nicely and
lets not forget Hostel which was the number one movie a few weeks ago
with 21 mill. These figures are promising, hopefully this will be the
'year of the movie" considering last year was... well... it wasnt.
MINI REVIEWS
"HOSTEL" (83
mins) The story about a group of patrying backpackers in Europe that
are mislead to a Hostel where people are killed at a price. Still not
sure whether I liked it or couldnt stand it. The first hour, or so, of
the film is just booze, boobs, and... more boobs. As many people would
leave the theater at this point it did help establish that these guys
were indeed party people that didnt give a shiza about anything. I
thought the actual establishing of it all took to damn long. So the
movie doesnt really start until about 40 minutes where Jay Hernandez's
friends go missing. He follows the clues (right after some sex) and is
lead to the Hostel. This placef was shown in a bloody glory that you
couldn't imagine if you haven't seen it for yourself. The violence was
brutally REAL. Which i enjoyed solely because "Dead Alive" is one of my
favorite movies (even though I was surprised to find my self a little
sick at this one part, which i dont want to waste, because I'm so used
to gory stuff). A nice warning however, this will make anyone's stomach
turn if you're not prepared and the unrated version is going to throw
you for a few loops I'm sure. The ending was great and not cliche and
the shock value that this is really going on in Amsterdam (and places
of that nature) today is crazy, as where the beginning was not so
great or surprising, and pretty damn cliche. So all In all I'll put it
somewhere leaning towards to see it area....
GRADE: B-/C+
"Underworld: Evolution" (110
mins) The story about not having much of a story. If you haven't seen
the first Underworld you'll be fine, everything is summed up in the
begginning which is nice, I guess. Basically, if you saw the first one,
this is the story of the traitor from the first film whose evolved and
the vampires are now helping the wherewolves, vice versa and Kate
Beckinsale is in the middle somewhere with the doctor who is now a
superbeast and they have to kickass before the final tomb is opened.
Thats it. If you saw and/or read what I said about Mr and Mrs Smith,
well there's even LESS thinking involved in this so we can classify
this one as "DEFINETLY A POPCORN FILM" which are always fun once in a
while. But, like good popcorn, lack a juicy center of and density, kind
of like Van Helsing (also with Beckinsale... interesting). The acting
still sucks and Kate Beckinsale's accent fades in and out which totally
pissed me off. It has a really funny sex scene and the fight scenes
have gotten MUCH better and dare I say, more elaborate? And I think its
funny that at the end they pretty much saw "YES, THERE IS A PART
THREE!" In the end it's enjoyable but leaves you filling somewhat
unfulfilled
GRADE: C-
RANDOM STUFF: Brokeback Mountain
won for best picture, director, yadda yadda at the Golden Globes but
I'm still hesitant to see it. If you guys liked it and reccommend it,
let me know. BTW, Steve Carrell won for best actor in a comedy TV
series and that makes me happy! Why the hell are there movie trailers
for the oscars? Thats unnerving and pathetic. V for Vendetta couldnt
take any longer to get here...
"NIGHTWATCH"
Russian Lord of The Rings set in modern day apocolypto. Sound
interesting? Put a surrealist twist and you have a badass
action/horror.fantasy/epic trilogy!!! GOOGLE IT NOW!!!!
