| Phone Call HomeAnna: Hey Dad, has anything strange happened on I-35 in the past couple days? Dad: No, not that I know of, but I haven't watched much news. Anna: 'Cause I'm driving southbound on I-35 and I haven't seen a single other car on the road except for a few cop cars. ...pause... Anna:
All the other cars are northbound, and I'd like to think if there was a
zombie apocalypse in Oklahoma City you guys would call and let me know. Dad: Yeah... we're all evacuated, and we're just not telling you.
| Laptop love?Alright, my beloved geeks.
My dear IBM Thinkpad (T42) that has been serving me well for the past two years (and another college student for the 3 years previous to that) is starting to show it's age. Keys are starting to work not-as-well; the cd drive doesn't always recognize if it has a cd in it; blue screens pop up with ominous messages.
That being said, I'm starting to look at what to do when my adored little baby meets it's mechanical maker. This is why I come to you with questions-- what do you suggests? What's the word on the inter-wub? Who's naughty, who's nice?
I prefer to stay with a notebook--the portability is a big part of what makes my computer so usable. Being able to take it with me to the library, to work, to class, around the dorm.. my computer is kind of attached to my hip. With that in mind, here is the things I look for in a laptop:
-portability (i'd rather not have to lift weights to be able to carry it around) -durability (...I've had a thinkpad. This thing is a beaut when I... am less than gentle with it.) -it better be able to outperform my iPod (you think it's a joke--this thing has 40GB hard drive, barely more than Peitho the video iPod) -I'm on a budget. I'll be paying for the laptop and I'm no money bags, between medical things this year and college costs.
Nothing is decided yet, but I figure it can't hurt to ask around for opinions.

| What's Tulsa backwards? It's official--my family will be moving to Tulsa in October. My mother interviewed for and received a special ed position teaching for Broken Arrow, so she will move in August. After I move to Chicago in September, my family will follow her up there.

| FactoidsMy makeup in the morning, if I'm being particular about it and going for the whole deal, takes about 2:48, which is as long as the track Conquest by the White Stripes.
I finish every workout at the gym post-scav hunt with the song Conquest by the White Stripes.
The penultimate song is usually Stronger by Kanye West.
For the last 7-8 minutes of my workout, I run about as fast as I can. This is not unrelated to the above music selections--it's less of a cause and effect relationship and more of a mutualism.

| Workin' on my fitnessI've been going to the gym Mon-Thurs with my mom (she does water
aerobics--I hitch a ride because gas is hellsa expensive). I usually
either bike ~15 miles or run anywhere from ~3-5 miles. I want my hand
to be well enough that I can do other things, but it's still giving me
troubles. Partially the desire to do something else is because I'm
horrible at running on treadmills--it comes with the inability to walk
in a terribly straight line (yes, sober) without much attention. I
swerve and list. It happens? More so, it happens and I don't usually
notice until I almost trip on the front or side of the treadmill.
On an entirely unrelated note, I'm being moody of late and I'm feeling a little emotionally weak/tender. I don't know.
On
yet another entirely unrelated note, I'll be in Tulsa from early Friday
until sometime Sunday this weekend. I'm going with my family to look at
neighborhoods and houses/rentals in the area, but I'll be with Victoria
in the evenings, so feel free to call.
