 Irreducible Complexity I

The IC argument states, essentially, that there are some biological systems which could not have evolved because without one or more of thier parts, they would not be functional.  So, to evolve such a system, there would have to be a construction of a non-functional system with an end goal in mind -- and that wouldn't be evolution at all, now would it?

IC systems include the chemical wondershop that is the bombardier beetle's defense system, in which two volatile chemicals which are stored in separate, specialized compartments are mixed in an equally specialized tube with another -- you guessed it -- specialized enzyme to create a super-heated toxic spray that emits from the beetle's abdomen:

Other systems include the human eye, blood-clotting systems, hunter-killer immuno-defense systems and the venus flytrap.  All seem to be non-functional if you take away any part of the system.

Good info, but no question? So, you're next post will probably show why evolution is possible in spite of IC, unless you've changed.

Yes, this does seem to be a lesson to encourage questions or to lead into a planned discussion.

I hope you show the truth behind the question of 'how is half an eye helpful.' Because there is one.

This seems mightly fishy...Like in movies just when you think the hero can't be saved, he is(or she)...

What an uncanny coincidence--and I'm not talking about the beetle. I guess I should've known that, if you had a Xanga, you'd have joined the philosophy group. Nice to see you again, HRE.

Irreducibly complex systems.. A favorite in the armament of the intelligent design theorist...

...and a teetering Jenga tower would cease to function if you took out just one part. Yet no one would be so absurd as to maintain the claim that a teetering Jenga tower cannot be built block by block. By virtue of knowing a solution with reducibility built into it, so to speak, the teetering tower becomes reducibly complex. The perception of 'irreducible complexity' is really the admission of 'If I can't derive evolution's possible solutions then they don't exist.'It's typical presumptuous speak from those who isolate challenges and label them disproofs.

IC is a fairly plastic argument. The eye is complex, but also an inherently flawed organ. A designer capable of conceptualizing and actually assembling such a structure should have been able to get it right as well.
