Another post

It's been a while since that last post, and since I happened to be on Xanga looking at a friend's, I thought I'd at least keep up the pretence that I'm on Xanga.
So.
I'm heading off to Biola in August to study film. JOY!
I recently bought a DSLR camera, JOY JOY!!
I just had a physical, NO JOY!
I've learned that guys have a self-defense response to needles, NO JOY!
And emotionally I'm: happy, ecstatic, confused, tired, and drained.

I'm teaching kids literature, possibly going to be a tutor, and still working at Wolf Camera.
I was recently raised to a Level II lab technician, even though I've been one for like, half a year, and soon I should be raised to Level III. JOY! JOY JOY!!
You can now find me on MySpace, Facebook, and of course here on Xanga.

Fine, I'll post

So, yeah, I guess I'll keep this up to date. Somewhat. Maybe.
Life = Job, school, avoidance of job and school.
Job = Wolf Camera
School = West Valley Community College
Avoidance = My MacBook Pro (love) + Warcraft III (currently) + Final Cut Studio (intense)
So, yeah, I'm bored. Nothing worthwhile. I think I'll post some advice.

#1: Never, never, never, never, never, never, never, NEVER!!! "Format" your memory card unless you are in one of three situations:

a) It's a brand new memory card with NO pictures on it.
b) You've deleted all your pictures.
c) Your camera is screwed up and keeps prompting you to format it.

In the third case, DO NOT immediately format it. First, use another camera (or go into Wolf/Ritz Camera and make a picture CD) to store all the pictures on a computer. Then you can format your card, but it's going to completely erase beyond all hope of recovery whatever pictures you had on your card. That's why you never, never, never, etc, want to Format your card while you have beloved pictures on it.

#2: If your LCD screen is completely black, try pushing the "Display" button a few times. In some cases, your screen has merely been turned off. This can save you a trip to the camera repair center. :D

#3: If an image is blinking on your camera, don't panic (unless it's the dead battery symbol). Get out the manual and look it up. This saves you a trip to the camera store just to have the associate casually say, "Oh yeah, that just means the date and time haven't been set. Here...*set*". Embarrassment may ensue, otherwise.

#4: Your picture is going to get cropped if you print it out as a 4x6. The proper size for any non-SLR digital camera is the 4.5x6. If you're going to be storing it in an album, you can also print it as a 4x5.5, which will still give you the full frame. However, in some cases a 1/2-inch of cropping isn't so painful (like in long distance shots and landscapes).

#5: Bad pictures don't necessarily mean a bad camera. Blurry pictures don't necessarily mean a bad camera. Out of focus pictures don't...you get the point. From what I've seen 85% to 99% of the poorly shot pictures are due to the user, not the camera. Often times, blurry pictures are due to handshake, or not waiting long enough for the camera to take the picture (especially with older cameras). Out of focus pictures often occur because the user didn't wait long enough for the camera to auto-focus.

Well there they are, some simple answers to the most common questions I get at work. Remember, you're going to get much better service if you're patient, friendly, and accommodating to ANY salesperson.

I really can't believe I just did that, but there you have it.
Like I've said before, you should go see the films on my MySpace. Or you could just come to my house and watch them with me, which would be ever so much fun :D

Ahem. For those of you interested, I have moved my online residency to MySpace. www.myspace.com/theboy87 is where you can find me now. Go watch some of my movies. *hint hint* Oh, and for those of you who do not know, I was not accepted to the Film program, I postponed my acceptance to Biola a year, and I am now trying to get into the Film program, again. By making film projects, I hope to increase my chances of getting in. woohoo...

edit: Zanga tells me it's been 955 days since I joined. Wow.

"And there was much rejoicing throughout the land. Yaaaaaaaaaay..." --Monty Python (Holy Grail)

Everyone give a cheer, I've been accepted to BIOLA! w00t. Now I just have to wait to see if my FTR application is accepted before deciding whether or not I'm actually going. Dum dum dum...only 50% accepted to the Film major, so we'll see what happens.

On other notes, life is good, I have an mp3 player, I have a video camera, and I'll be taking a West Valley class this coming semester.

Interesting: Those "Bertie Botts Every Flavor" jelly bean things are terrific! They're scary how realistic they can taste. Black pepper, cinnamon, and buttered popcorn are especially good, as well as blueberry.

Must see: Serenity. That is a freakin awesome movie. It had no hype or advertising, but my friend and I saw it on a whim when it was in theaters and we LOVE it. So good. See it.

O_0 Everyone oooh and aaah! It's Amazing! I'm posting on my xanga! I deserve something for this...

Anyways, things are quiet on this Western Front, unless you count the banging as our house is remodeled. Oh Joy.

Well I'm definately tired. Lesse, 6 weeks ago we went on a Mission's trip to the Lummi tribe in Washington, which lasted about 2 weeks, then we went on vacation to Yosemite and Tahoe (next time I go I'm taking a shotgun. those dang fish won't bite even if you bonk em on the head with the bait (which I did) a shotgun should take of them, MUWAHAHAHAHA), then only days after being home from vacation I leave for Horse Camp, my annual chance to train and ride horses (didn't do as much of that this year, I was hanging with ppl), and the week after that I had my annual chance to go back to the ranch and help out with a different camp (the people who own the ranch are AWESOME). Let me tell you something, if you think "supervising" little girls while they're cleaning out horse stalls sounds easy, IT'S NOT!! Oh well. I still got to stand around in the shade while they worked in the sun, so that's a plus. And this year I didn't have to clean a dead-for-a-week cat out of a ply-board building. YAY. Take pleasure in the little things...
