You know what I find particularly annoying? It's when people want to complain that Christianity promotes violence (referring to the witch trials, etc.) And then insist that Islam is a religion of peace... I'm sorry... what... can you say that again?

True, the Inquisition and the Salem witch hunts were terrible, and in my humble opinion, very wrong... but as society may have noticed, is the mere fact that lately there hasn't been any witch trials. Society gets up on their soap boxes and harp on the dangers of Christianity; all the while conveniently "forgetting" about the Muslims' conquest of Spain, the Battle of Tours, or the execution of Jews in Qurayza... Oh, and how about September 9, 2001? We'll just leave the suicide bombings, beheadings, and torturing to talk about another day.

To be honest, I don't even think the people who denounce Christianity and "fear it so" are being honest with themselves. No, the problem is simply this; it has become a world wide, accepted, and very popular trend to slander Christians and ignore anything about Jesus.

What's trendy and cool is what goes. Hmmm, that sort of reminds me of jailbird Paris Hilton's, "That's hottt."

I'm not trying to convert anyone to Christianity... I mean, if you want to do the Christian-thing, then by all means, do it and that's great... but if not, then, that's your choice. *Thumbs up.* What I'm trying to do is get a very valid and very unanswered point recognized... if not, answered by society.

Why is it okay for people to complain about the witch hunts and such, but completely ignore the terrible things that the Muslim extremists (or terrorists) have done and continue to do?

I mean, if someone have a problem with Christianity... then that's up to them. This is America after all. (See the First Amendment.) But why is their argument soley based on the horrific witch hunts, etc... and not a single word about the Muslim conquest of Spain or say 9/11?

Why is it "okay" for Islam to continue to remain a "religion of peace," whereas Christianity is something to be feared and rejected?

      Those are my thoughts.

Question: Why doesn't our president act as though he cares (enough) for our American Armed Forces?
Answer:    Is too afraid to piss the nuts in D.C. off.

This is your country too! If you don't like what's happening in the White House or the way our troops are being left at the mercy of the media; do something!! I.E.: Write to your senators, representatives, president, vice president, our military leaders, and anyone with a strong political hold of this country. Tell them to stop treating our heroes like they are the terrorists.

Come on! Fight guys! Fight!

Hoorah!!

Journalist Tells It Like It Is

Editorial by Michael J. Splinter, Dandridge, TN

STAFF SGT. GIROUARD GETTING BUM DEAL

Most Americans feel insulated and protected from dangerous terrorists, but to whom should we be grateful for this perceived security? Politicians who refuse to close our borders? No, our defenders are the members of our armed forces.

The case of Staff Sgt. Raymond Girouard is a sad commentary on how we thank them for protecting us.

Girouard, who personally hurt no one, is suffering the consequences of the actions of subordinates who killed detained Iraqis. These were terrorists who would have cut their throats if given the opportunity.

For simply attempting to protect these men in his charge, he was sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment and has already served more than one year in solitary confinement. Talk about military justice - an apparent oxymoron.

Will President Bust now do the right thing and reunite Girouard with his young son by commuting his sentence to time served or even issuing him a presidential pardon?

Don't bet on it.

What about the newly empowered Democrats who profess so much concern for our military members in Iraq? Will any of them come to the aid of this fine young man by urging Bush to set him free?

Again, don't bet on it.

And you thought you elected your new protectors last November.

MY COMMENTS TO THIS ARTICLE WERE: Our president has sacrificed his morals and our heroes for the purpose of the popular opinion (of the liberals). Every day, little by little, Bush is stepping further away from our flag and the values of our country. He is growing cowardly and will accept what the liberals or liberal Republicans tell him to do. If he had any back bone, he would have freed our heroes in the Pendleton Brig, Staff Sgt. Raymond Girouard, and any of our soldiers that have fallen under direct combat for the malicious media's rating usage.

Bush may be ready to turn his back on some of the bravest young men and women, who would willingly give his or her life for this great nation, than get "picked on" by the liberals and media. The liberals have made our president believe that all Americans hate him and what he's doing; sadly, he has been greatly mislead. Our country wants a strong president...even the liberals admired President Ronald Reagan.

Religion and politics aside, always, every single time, SUPPORT our American Armed Forces.

DEFEND OUR HEROES; NOT THE TERRORISTS.

UPDATE: Sweetwater soldier sentenced to 10 years in prison.

A Sweetwater soldier was sentenced to 10 years in prison today in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Staff Sergeant Raymond Girouard also received a dishonorable discharge along with the forfeit of his pay. His pay is to go to his wife and child. Girouard's rank has also been reduced from E-6 to E-1. He was convicted last week of three counts of negligent homicide for his role in the deaths of three Iraqi detainees on May 9, 2006.

Their ruling at Fort Campbell means Girouard had the duty to stop the soldiers under his command from killing the detainees, but he did not order their murders or plan them as the prosecution had pushed.

The same panel that convicted Girouard is responsible for handing down the sentence. It is also possible Girouard will not face any additional jail time because of time he already served while awaiting trial.

Meanwhile, Girouard has the faith and financial support of his congregation.

Pastor Larry Orr of the First Assembly of God in Sweetwater says, "When we are asked to characterize our church in one word family is the word I typically use."

Staff Sergeant Girouard hasn't physically been able to attend church here for awhile but through prayer he's present.

"A lot of people in this community and certainly in this church feel Ray was out there fighting for us," says Pastor Orr.

The weekend before Girouard's court martial at Fort Campbell, his congregation prayed for the soldier for 24 hours straight. He's still in their thoughts.

Doschia Wilson, Church member says, "We feel like a higher power is in charge. We needed to do that for Ray."

The man who used to play drums for his church has drummed up a lot of support.

The congregation at First Assembly of God donated $7,000 towards his civilian defense.

"That seemed like the only thing we could do help with the money for the lawyer and pray was all we could do so we put forth that effort," adds Wilson.

The effort appears to have gone a long way.

The military panel recently acquitted Girouard of the most serious charges in the death of the detainees.

Pastor Orr says, "We would have been glad to have a part no matter how it turned out but it looks a lot better than it could have."

With Girouard's sentencing scheduled for Monday, his congregation is hoping for the best. They are hoping their soldier will come home.

Wilson says, "I've always been a person who can put myself in someone's else place. How would I feel? I just hope he is set free."

"It would be one of the big thrills in my life to see Ray standing right here next Sunday morning," says Pastor Orr.

Three soldiers under Girouard's command made deals with the government to avoid a life sentence.

They testified against him.

Girouard could have faced a maximum sentence of life without the possibility of parole if he had been convicted on premeditated murder charges.

That's right put our HEROES in jail. What a bunch of MORONS!!! Screw the NCIS. They're all idiots. How can they do this to our soldiers? It's not right. It's WRONG. Am I the only one that feels this way?!

Sweetwater soldier convicted of negligent homicide

A jury found a 101st Airborne soldier from Sweetwater guilty of three counts of negligent homicide in the deaths of three Iraqi detainees Friday night.

After four hours of deliberating, the panel returned the verdict in the court-martial of Staff Sergeant Raymond Girouard. The panel could have found him guilty on the more serious charges of premeditated murder.

Several soldiers that had been under Girouard's command testified that Girouard ordered them during a raid on a suspected insurgent camp to cut loose three detainees, then shoot them as they fled.

The 24-year-old Girouard was also found guilty of obstruction of justice for lying to investigators and a conspiracy charge for trying to conceal the crime.

A negligent homicide charge carries a maximum penalty of three years in prison. Girouard could have faced a maximum sentence of life without the possibility of parole if he had been convicted on premeditated murder charges.

Jurors are scheduled to begin the sentencing phase of the court-martial Monday morning.

What soldier wouldn't help his fellow soldier out? He saw what they did and tried to cover it up for them. And by the way; who is to say that those three Iraqis didn't really try to escape and they were forced to shoot them? It seems to me that once again, American soldiers have been brow beaten and forced to plea guilty in order to receive lesser charges. Forget actually pleading the way the want to - if you're being tortured by your own people, have the media calling you a "murderer," or being told that you'll NEVER get to be with your wife or children or your girlfriend again then of course, you're going to take the plea bargain...even if you end up implicating another soldier.

Our government is freakin' screwed up. "Torture our troops - not the terrorists" is THEIR screwed up system.

FREE OUR HEROES!!
