wow, i haven't written in this place in almost a year... i wonder if anyone's even been here in all that time.

anyway, i'm going to start treating this like an actual blog now. fun, eh?

i'm reading "The Justice Game" by geoffrey robertson QC. it's really interesting, and is about the cases he's handled, defending all sorts of people and trying to fight the British system. According to thim, what makes justice what it is, is the chance of winning. That is, there is always a chance of winning the game, and that's what makes it worth playing.

went to uni to do some stuff about metrics honours on the computer. didn't work out very well. i'm starting to think it might not work out in the end... terrible thought.

went scavenger hunting yesterday. basically a group of ppl divide into teams, get a list of objects to find in the city, go around finding them and taking photos of them. whoever gets the most objects wins.

we only got about 25, but then we spent most of our time at Dymocks, taking photos of photos from books =) and then also at Hobbyco, taking photos of model cars/planes/fire engines which were on the list (although the list didn't mention that they are models). the winning team had 47 (!)

later there was also watching poker... it is so *boring* when ppl play conservative and just sit there.

ergh.

anyhow got home at 2am and now am awake :D

omg... you know whats the most tiring thing in the world? catching a ferry to north sydney, only to realise that the station is a mile away across a friggin 20-lane highway and somewhere over the rainbow! well its good exercise.

In other news, CityRail is totally stuffed up. Whats wrong with all those friggin bludgy drivers? They're ruining the whole city and everyone's lives. Its not as if trains cannot be on time. Look at the Olympics. Yet the only explanation they can offer is "we had bonuses back then". What kind of excuses is that? Having no bonuses should not mean that they can slacken off and not run trains on time. If a fool like Musollini can make trains run on time, then the people running the railway companies are really quite incompetent, to be polite about it. The problem with the system is that they're trying to run it as if suburban rail lays golden eggs. It doesn't. You put money in, and trains come out. That's how public transport works! Instead, they keep on raising fares and hope that somehow the train system will pay for itself, or else the fares will be high enough to scare off everybody so that nobody will notice that the trains are still late. This hasn't yet happened, so now they're trying to fudge the stats to make it look as if they're doing a good job: "within 4 minutes of scheduled time" is supposed to be on time. If a train is late for 15 minutes in China they'd have a riot. (This has happened, on the Shanghai subway.)

went to manly beach the other day. i didn't realise the sun was so strong until i was taking a shower after i got home. my god, the power of uv... but it seems to kill pimples so thats good :)

we built a sandcastle... however, we realised that this little kid nearby built another one that was heaps better... it had two walls and drawbridges and tunnels and a keep and everything! our one looked like a stone age ruin by comparison. afterwards we built a dyke in front to protect it from the rising tide. it worked pretty well. wonder if its still there =) (wishful thinking eh?)

whinge of the day: its not fair! there's something wrong with australia post in my area. they seem to be always late with regard to important stuff, but junk mails get delivered on time every day! the evils of corporatisation... aigh...

on the same note... go mark latham! i know he's a opportunistic populist bastard but nevertheless... he has that whitlamic feel about him. i hope he beats john howard. and trample his lying dick in the sand. hopefully.

went tutoring today. finally earning some money. yay!

Bankstown north shore used to be full of fort st students. now its full of fort st teachers =)

heard from a student that fort st is naming all the buildings after principals... the old building is now the wilkins building, or something. and there's a fanny (cohen) building. how stupid is that?? who cares who the principals are... imagine the moxham building... *shudders*.

they should name them after famous fortians. the eddy barton memorial building. doug mawson memorial geography classroom. dr john yu memorial sick bay... mary kostakidis memorial PA system. sir john kirr memorial rubbish tip. stuff like that.

we're 16th this year  beaten by all these weirdo school. and some al falafel islamic school or something.
