| Hello Again. I'm back in the dock after my 30th anniversary vacation to Durango CO with my beloved wife, 4 kids and granddaughter. This is short for my plate is full and company is coming this weekend. PERSEVERE-PRAY-PLEAE GOD | | |
| Wow 1099 days of Zanga service. Only 3 more official weeks of winter. Winter Spring Summer or Fall all you gotta do is call. May God teach us to pray. Patience in the bleak end of winter 2007. Hope this finds all my readers in the Word, full of the Spirit and talking up the great God of our salvation. Easter is coming again and eternity knocks. Bless the Lord oh ny soul. | | |
| IT's OFFICIALLY fall....It is also Jewish New Year's Day, the beginning of Judaism's annual 10 days of AWE. A time of new beginning to remember personal sins and the need to repent and the need for atonement. AWE comes to a close on Yom Kippur. This is the day to appeal to God to seal your last year's sins for another year. Salvation by works. What a no surprises way to live. I went to the local Temple Bethel synagogue's remembrance service yesterday at my neighborhood cemetery and found out it was Mr. Levi(biggest monument in the Jewish section) who gave the land for the Linwood Cemetery. He was also the first Jewish settler in Iowa. Linwood is a beautiful serene piece of tree coveved hilly property that is my outdoor walking track. Come on up to DBQ and I'll show you Levi's monument. All the leaves up this way start to turn colors these days. It makes me think of the beauty of our Creator God who sent his Son to atone the sins of His people. We are technicolored vessels of grace and life. Enjoy worship ASAP. | | |
| yes the DBQer is back.... I've been to Louisville KY and Des Moines IA since last we chatted on the MS river bank. Summer is soon to arrive and spring has been pleasant. My summer travels will Lord willing take me to Topeka KS to see parents and grandchild and the Moline IL airport to send my wife to her parents(in Houston TX) for a week and also pick up my younger daughter after her summer travel fling(MS MO KS) with her older sister. I like to travel and God has allowed me to do more than most civilians of the planet but my flesh always yearns for more frequunt travel miles.... Now Louisville KY is a NICE mid sized river city to visit. Everyone ought to stop for a visit and encourage those who call the place home. In fact wherever you visit this summer build up ther folks you are with. My short summer sermon is this God is Good.... Life is Hard ....Don't confuse the two... Amen.. Hey is any one out there watching the soccer games in Germany? I think we need more church soccer leagues out in the church ball fields of the earth. Are any of the world cup players confessing Christians? Hey is any one out there hungry for a bratwurst? Hey does anyone want to comment on my last spring seasonal post. The offer will not last much longer. If you are the 7th poster you will win a free weekend in DBQ IA with me and the fam... corn boil and brats at Eagle Point Park .YEA Gotta go have some more coffee and Flannery O'Conner short stories. Nothing like caffine and a deeper look the the debauchery of civil religion from the soul from a staunch Roman Catholic fiction writer. I guarantee you she will not flatter the current state of spirituality we at present call American Christianity. Check her out at your local public library I doubt if your church library would shelve her satire. Good thinking to you as you re-create this summer. | | |
| It has been a month of Sundays as old fashioned faithful church attenders used to say when keeping track of real time. Virtual time is ticking away and I need to keep my minimal monthly commitment upto date in posting on my site. I am amazed AT ALL MY YOUNGER BLOGGING friends and aquantances who are so regimented in their blog communicating. In the old days church goers would gang out in the church fellowship hall(basement) or Denny's or Mickey D's after reg. worship and talk..... now the church of today blogs.By the way I like church but I am no Landmarked for you in the SBC virtual controversy discussion. I will not can one better than the other for communication of any spiritual kind is a good thing. And one has greater access to the virtual peoples of the earth while the other has a closed audience. I believe that should sober us up as to what we say (I mean write )on these pages. Well I must go and record my students' daily assignments via my web mail. One more lecture and 48 thousand words to read(40 some final papers to grade and record) and I will have successfully finished my 6th semester of collegiate teaching. I give thanks to God for all of you in my Zanga world. Seek the Lord while He may be found in Christ Jesus alone. | | |
