IT's OFFICIALLY fall....It is also Jewish New Year's Day, the beginning of Judaism's annual 10 days of AWE.

A time of new beginning to remember personal sins and the need to repent and the need for atonement. AWE comes to a close on Yom Kippur. This is the day to appeal to God to seal your last year's sins for another year.  Salvation by works.  What a no surprises way to live. I went to the local Temple Bethel synagogue's remembrance service yesterday at my neighborhood cemetery and found out it was Mr. Levi(biggest monument in the Jewish section) who gave the land for the Linwood Cemetery. He was also the first Jewish settler in Iowa. Linwood is a beautiful serene piece of tree coveved hilly property that is my outdoor walking track. Come on up to DBQ and I'll show you Levi's monument. All the leaves up this way start to turn colors these days. It makes me think of the beauty of our Creator God who sent his Son to atone the sins of His people. We are technicolored vessels of grace and life. Enjoy worship ASAP.

Nay he was not of the elders present. Busy with Rigaletto practices I presume. I hope he took New Years Day(s) off.

My selection as Dr. Wills' research assistant was purely the providence of God.  I did not seek the professor out; rather he called me after one of my college professors recommended me to him.  I had previously been in talks with the Library director to work as a research assistant but the offer to help Dr. Wills came as a great surprise.
