| A Survey and Prince Caspian premiere news! This entry was ported from LJ. :'-(
1. Do you sleep with socks on or off: If it's cold, on. Don't like cold feet.
2. Do you flip your pillow to the cold side: I do like a cold pillow. Once, I put my pillow in a deep freezer for true satisfaction. It was pretty nice, but it warmed up too quickly. The laws of thermodynamics be a harsh mistress.
3. Do you like to hold or be held: Having experienced both, I have to say I like both to give and recieve the "you are loved as you are, you are accepted, you are home here" vibe that comes from an honest embrace.
4. Do you want a small or big wedding: Tracy said: "smaller. meaning: not inviting people because it is my wedding. rather, inviting those who have most impacted myself, and my spouse... our mentors, family, closest friends.... to be close to all there because there is a specific reason they are there. i would love to have part of the reception (or maybe having it written?) be to personally thank each person for everything they have done. what they really mean to us as a couple, individual and in our relationship with Jesus."
And I have not ever given it any thought at all, but it seems that Tracy has, and those are some really darn good thoughts. I will steal this, and if anyone asks, I will give credit.
5. What type of guys/girls do you usually go for: "go for"? If you're referring to pursuing a relationship, something that is conscious and purposeful, the only girl I've ever gone for was the exact opposite of the kind of person I'm about to describe, a crooked part of my history that God will make straight, and a worthless one that He will redeem. However, the kind of girl I would purposefully pursue is:
A young woman who I notice across the room, serving when she thinks no one is looking. One who knows God through Christ, and loves Him with a full and whole heart. One who has Christ's compasison for the broken and the lost, His love and passion for His Bride and the Kingdom of God. One who is called to be my wife and helper as I am called to be her husband and protector. Whose professional calling is a matching puzzle piece to mine. One who I can lead spiritually, but who will always be encouraging me, verbally and nonverbally and just by existing, to go deeper, reach higher, and love stronger and more passionately, to give more of myself, of money, of God. One who loves the law of the Lord, and meditates on it, in joy, day and night, who thinks on things and considers people that others pass by. One whom I can talk with and pray with and dig into God with and dance with and sing with and giggle with and sit with in silence and peace and joy and contentment and love and that so much beyond love we have no words for it... She will be beautiful.
Having good musical taste is a plus as well. And an appreciation for art and film. Literature.
6. Would you rather be rich and unhappy or poor and happy: Is this a real question? The only reason people chase after riches is because they think it's going to make them happy. If a condition of the riches is misery, they may try to get around it, but they're really trying for happiness. Or so I believe. To actually answer the question, the latter.
7. What are 3 things you want to do before you die? 1. To show aspects of God as a Father by becoming a father through adoption. 2. To write and direct or produce a film or cable miniseries adaptation of Stephen R. Donaldson's epic intimate fantasy The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, The Unbeliever. 3. Have great sex.
8. Have you ever churned Butter? I'm wondering if this has some kind of disgusting second meaning (especially with the capital B). However, I'm not going to obsess over it, and I'm not going to look it up to see. Just gonna go with "No, I have never used a butter churn."
9. Are you trusting to new people? Trusting? I dunno. I do tend to take people at their word until I have reason not to.
10. If you could rate yourself as a good or bad friend on a scale of 1-10:? hahaha. a six-point-five-two on average, individuals ranging from three to nine.
11. If you were the opposite sex for a day, what would be the first thing you would do: See if the girls' restrooms are furnished as nicely as is rumored.
I'm sure I would be very uncomfortable and confused during the whole day, though it might be interesting seeing if reactions were different to me as a woman than as a man. Would I get a new perspective on how women feel when my eyes wander? Very possibly.
12. What is your favorite body part of the opposite sex? speaking of wandering eyes...
the mouth, especially as it forms words, especially words of peace, love, hope, and joy.
And arms. Stick arms are unattractive.
Hair. Many styles of hair. mmmm.
13. If your dream was to be a model and a big opportunity came up but you had to be nude, would you take it? as in fully exposed? Hech no. I am not that comfortable with my own skin. I believe nudity is not necessarily sinful or objectifying in itself, however. No reason to believe that. Some of it is, and in the entirely hypothetical situation of being comfortable with my skin and form, it would have to depend on whether it was for art or for pornography. If the latter (which seems to be the implied situation), no, never. Artistic nudity... I might.
14. Where's this q? gone to lunch.
15. What is the most money you would spend on a pair of shoes? Not sure. I spent fifty bucks on my jogging shoes (at half price!). And I got the wrong size. *headdesk*
16. If you found out a loved one had cancer and had 5 days to live, what would be the first thing you would do? The first thing I would probably do is quietly go up to my room alone, where I would fall on my face weeping and praying and asking God "Why?" and what I should do, and for the strength to act in love above all else. Then I'd probably travel to wherever my loved one was and play it pretty much by the Spirit ear.
17. If you were a crayon, what color would you be? Explain why too! Silver. It reflects light, represents purity, and it looks good when paired with black or a rich dark blue. 18. If you could choose to star in ANY play or movie you wanted, what would it be? to star? oh goodness, if I could choose to both star and excel in any play or movie, it would be an adaptation of my own of The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, the Unbeliever. I would play Mhoram, with Christian Bale playing the title character. Maybe I would play Triock, for a less-obstructive role. Though if I did play Triock, it would have to be as performance capture CGI ala Beowulf, as Triock is described to be rather bulky in a muscled sense. Though as long as we're dreaming...
19. Do you have more friends or more acquaintances? I think I have more friends. I have more people that I consider friends, anyway. Acquaintances, I suppose I have many of as well, though. It's so much easier to make an acquaintance than a friend that not all of my acquaintances have the opportunity to become friends.
20. If you could win a couple front row tickets to a game, any sport any team, what sport and team would it be? Hmm... I like sports as long as they're live and in person. I've never seen a NFL game or NBA game (though I did see the Harlem Globetrotters put a smackdown on the Angelo State University basketball team once). I've heard hockey can be diverting. /snooty
21. Would you rather help someone out or be helped out? Help. I don't mind being helped, but I get more satisfaction from helping.
22. If you had to choose to be a different religion than what you are now, which would you choose & why? That's like asking what other planet in the solar system I would like to be born on. Earth is the only one habitable. Some of those others don't even have ground to stand on (I'm looking at you, outer planets!).
23. If you found out you couldn't have kids, would you adopt:? heck yeah! There are so many out there who don't have and need a family to teach them what love is, or a father to help them to know what it means when God is referred to as a Father. In the image of God, who adopted me, I would adopt. And hopefully will adopt.
In Other News, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian comes out Friday morning/Thursday night, so if anyone's in the Houston area and wants to see it together for the midnight premiere, let me know! I can't wait! Well, actually, I can wait, but would rather not. I am anxious about Reepicheep. He is my favorite character in the whole of the Chronicles and if they screw him up, I will be quite unable to enjoy the film. If they get him right, I will be quite unable to reasonably criticize it. Here's hoping for a repeat of my experience of LWW (lots of tears of joy and a complete emotional collapse. I might need a designated driver who hates fantasy movies).
Peace and Grace, Galen
