Birthright or Pottage?

There is a poignant story in the Bible about two
brothers, Jacob and Esau. Their story may seem
like a minor one compared to many other stories
but closer examination reveals not only a great
turn of events but a harsh lesson to be learned.
Many people are familiar with the saga, especially
the part where Esau came back from an unsuccessful
hunt hungry and tired.

30 And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with
that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his
name called Edom.
31 And Jacob said, Sell me this day
thy birthright
32 And Esau said, Behold, I am at the
point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?

33 And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware
unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.
34 Then
Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did
eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way:
thus Esau
despised his birthright.
(Genesis 25:30-34) (KJV) -Biblegateway

Because Esau hastily traded his birthright for pottage,
Jacob ended up inheriting Esau's entire future. Jacob
went on to become the founder of nations while Esau
simply lived out the rest of his lackluster life in obscurity.

9 Now that Jacob had returned from Paddan-aram,
God appeared to him again at Bethel. God blessed
him, 10 saying, “Your name is Jacob, but you will
not be called Jacob any longer. From now on your
name will be Israel.”[a] So God renamed him Israel.
11 Then God said, “I am El-Shaddai—‘God Almighty.’
Be fruitful and multiply. You will become a great nation,
even many nations. Kings will be among your descendants!
12 And I will give you the land I once gave to Abraham
and Isaac. Yes, I will give it to you and your descendants
after you.” 13 Then God went up from the place where he
had spoken to Jacob.
(Genesis 35:9-13) (NLT) -Biblegateway

The point of this lesson is that we all have a birthright that
most people have already traded for low-grade pottage!

What birthright do we all have?

Our birthright is to live forever here on a paradise earth!

6 And the wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard
shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion
and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.
7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones
shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the
ox. 8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp,
and the weaned child shall put his hand on the adder's den.
9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain;
for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of Jehovah, as
the waters cover the sea.
(Isaiah 11:6-9) (ASV) -Biblegateway

1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the
first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and
there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City,
the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from
God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her
husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne
saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and
he will live with them. They will be his people, and
God himself will be with them and be their God.
4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will
be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for
the old order of things has passed away."
5 He who
was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything
new!" Then he said, "Write this down, for these words
are trustworthy and true."
(Revelation 21:1-5) (NIV)
-Biblegateway

This is our birthright.

The sad truth is that most people living now have already
thrown away their birthright of eternal life long ago.

What exactly have people traded for their birthright?

Worldly pleasures

"You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship
with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses
to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God."
(James 4:4) (NIV) -
BibleGateway

Don't love the world or anything that belongs to the world.
If you love the world, you cannot love the Father.
(1John 2:15) (CEV)
Bible Gateway

Rejecting Jehovah

1 "I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me;
I was found by those who did not seek me. To a nation
that did not call on my name, I said, 'Here am I, here am I.'
2 "I opened my arms to my own people all day long, but they
have rebelled. They follow their own evil paths and thoughts.
(Isaiah 65:1-2) (NIV) Bible Gateway

Rejecting Jehovah's laws

18 If only you had paid attention to my commands,
your peace would have been like a river, your
righteousness like the waves of the sea.
(Isaiah 48:18) (NIV)
Bible Gateway

"The wise men are put to shame, they are dismayed
and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of Jehovah;
and what manner of wisdom is in them?
(Jeremiah 8:9) (ASV)
Bible Gateway

Ignoring Jehovah's servants

14 If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your
words, shake the dust off your feet when you leave
that home or town. 15 I tell you the truth, it will be
more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah on the day
of judgment than for that town.
(Matthew 10:14-15) (NIV) Bible Gateway

They instead follow senseless man-made
teachings
from their preferred priests and
ministers of Christendom

1 Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last
times some will turn away from the true faith; they
will follow deceptive spirits and
teachings that come
from demons
. 2 These people are hypocrites and liars,
and their consciences are dead.
(1Timothy 4:1-2) (NLT) Bible Gateway

3 For the time will come when men will not put up
with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires,
they will gather around them a great number of teachers
to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4
They will
turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside
to myths.
(2Timothy 4:3-4) (NIV) Bible Gateway

What kind of myths?

Preachers & priests can magically forgive our sins.
Jesus is holding the gate to Heaven open for us.
God is a 3-headed trinity monstrosity.
God & Jesus love us no matter what.
Christmas & Easter are sacred.
Mary is Queen of Heaven.
Jesus is God Almighty.
all religions are alike.
Crosses are sacred.

The people who believe these LIES have thrown
away their birthright with both hands for pottage.

The world is in upheaval right now because most
nominal Christians are taught that "we are all just
poor sinners who can't help ourselves". People
who believe that they will be endlessly forgiven
for their constant sinning feel justified in satisfying
any urge. They feel free to indulge in any base
immorality even to the point of criminal behavior
with no twinge of remorse.

What does the Bible warn about sin?

4 The person who keeps on sinning is guilty of
not obeying the Law of God. For sin is breaking
the Law of God.
(1John 3:4) (NLV)
Bible Gateway

And what will be the consequences?

12 "I will `destine' you to the sword. All of you will bow
before the executioner, for when I called, you did not
answer. When I spoke, you did not listen. You
deliberately sinned--before my very eyes--
and chose
to do what you know I despise.
"
(Isaiah 65:12) (New Living Translation) Bible Gateway

Would God really do that?

5 And God did not spare the ancient world--except for
Noah and his family of seven. Noah warned the world of
God's righteous judgment.
Then God destroyed the whole
world of ungodly people with a vast flood.
6 Later, God
condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah and turned
them into heaps of ashes. He made them an example of what
will happen to ungodly people.
(2Peter 2:5-6) (NLT) Bible Gateway

17 You make God tired with all your talk. "How do we tire
him out?" you ask. By saying, "God loves sinners and sin
alike. God loves all." And also by saying, "Judgment? God's
too nice to judge."

(Malachi 2:17) (Message Bible) Bible Gateway

9 I, the LORD, will show no mercy or pity when that
time comes.
In my anger I will destroy the earth and
every sinner who lives on it.

(Isaiah 13:9) (CEV) Bible Gateway

How can we survive Jehovah's judgment?

The first step is to stop following senseless
teachings that come from demons.

"Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked?
saith the Lord Jehovah; and not rather that he
should return from his way, and live?"
(Ezekiel 18:23) (ASV) -
BibleGateway

"For I have no pleasure in the death of him
that dieth, saith the Lord Jehovah: wherefore
turn yourselves [around], and live."
(Ezekiel 18:32) (ASV) -BibleGateway

Of all the religions that exist in the world, there is only ONE
religion that is based upon the teachings Jesus Christ
originally brought to us. Only ONE religion promotes the
worship of his Father, the ONE TRUE GOD - JEHOVAH.
ONLY ONE! The people who worship Jehovah are the only
ones who have the opportunity to enjoy their birthright for eternity.

"The righteous shall inherit the earth,
And they shall live forever upon it."
(Psalm 37:29) (KJV)

Final Warning!

The world we live in is a hazardous world. Our God,
Jehovah, created this world to be a safe and wholesome
home for us but that is not the case anymore. Instead,
we live in a highly dangerous environment with signs
posted everywhere to warn us of the many dangers
that surround us.

Warning Collage
The world is fraught with visible and invisible hazards that maim
and kill us every day, such as pollution, injustice, warfare, famine,
disease, unpredictable accidents and random violence.
This is not
what Jehovah originally had in mind.
By allowing us to live
here our way, we have brought about problems instead of peace
and serenity. Jehovah had an answer to our problems in mind and
implemented His solution as described in the Bible.

Jehovah's ultimate solution

5 The Lord observed the extent of human wickedness
on the earth, and he saw that everything they thought
or imagined was consistently and totally evil. 6 So the
Lord was sorry he had ever made them and put them
on the earth. It broke his heart. 7 And the Lord said,
"I will wipe this human race I have created from the
face of the earth. Yes, and I will destroy every living
thing—all the people, the large animals, the small
animals that scurry along the ground, and even the
birds of the sky. I am sorry I ever made them."
(Genesis 6:5-7) (New International Version) -
BibleGateway

The evil people were wiped away by a great flood
and peace and serenity reigned for a time. Only Noah
and his small family survived.

16 "Come out of the ark, you and your wife
and your sons and their wives."
(Genesis 8:16) (NIV) -BibleGateway

Then the population increased and people went back
to their evil ways. Once again, Jehovah destroyed evil
people, but this time, by hail from the sky...

17 You still set yourself against my people and will not
let them go. 18 Therefore, at this time tomorrow I will
send the worst hailstorm that has ever fallen on Egypt,
from the day it was founded till now. 19 Give an order
now to bring your livestock and everything you have in
the field to a place of shelter, because the hail will fall
on every man and animal that has not been brought in
and is still out in the field, and they will die.' " 22 Then
the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand toward
the sky so that hail will fall all over Egypt—on men and
animals and on everything growing in the fields of Egypt."
23 When Moses stretched out his staff toward the sky,
the LORD sent thunder and hail, and lightning flashed
down to the ground. So the LORD rained hail on the land
of Egypt; 24 hail fell and lightning flashed back and forth.
It was the worst storm in all the land of Egypt since it had
become a nation. 25 Throughout Egypt hail struck every-
thing in the fields—both men and animals; it beat down
everything growing in the fields and stripped every tree.
(Genesis 9:17-19, 22-25) (NIV) -BibleGateway

And by fire from the sky!

23 Lot reached the village just as the sun was rising over
the horizon. 24
Then the Lord rained down fire and
burning sulfur from the sky on Sodom and Gomorrah.
(Genesis 19:23-24) (NIV) -BibleGateway

These are just a few of the ways Jehovah has
at His disposal for destroying evil people. He
has every intention of utilizing these natural
forces again because people just will not stop
committing evil acts.

8 The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun,
and the sun was given power to scorch people with
fire. 9 They were seared by the intense heat and they
cursed the name of God, who had control over these
plagues, but they refused to repent and glorify him.
(Revelation 16:8-9) (NIV) -BibleGateway

21 From the sky huge hailstones of about a hundred pounds
each fell upon men. And they cursed God on account of the
plague of hail, because the plague was so terrible.
(Revelation 16:21) (NIV)
-BibleGateway

But first, it is only fair to give the
inhabitants of this world fair warning.

7 "But always, first of all, I warn you through my servants
the prophets. I, the Sovereign LORD, have now done this."
(Amos 3:7) (New Living Translation) -BibleGateway

What are the people who heeded the warnings doing now?

"Deal as sparingly as possible with the things the world
thrusts on you. This world as you see it is on its way out."

(1Corinthians 7:31) (Message Bible) -BibleGateway

"Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff,
before the fierce anger of Jehovah come upon you, before the day
of Jehovah's anger come upon you.
Seek ye Jehovah, all ye meek
of the earth, that have kept his ordinances; seek righteousness, seek
meekness: it may be ye will be hid in the day of Jehovah's anger."
(Zephaniah 2:2,3) (American Standard Version) -BibleGateway

32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call
on the name of Jehovah shall be delivered;
(Joel 2:32) (ASV) -BibleGateway

What exactly is Jehovah's current plan?

44 "In the time of those kings, the God of heaven
will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed,
nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all
those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it
will itself endure forever.
(Daniel 2:44) (NIV) -BibleGateway

Is Jehovah's plan going to be as violent as before?

14 "The great day of Jehovah is near. It is near,
and there is a hurrying [of it] very much
. The
sound of the day of Jehovah is bitter. There a mighty
man is letting out a cry. 15 That day is a day of fury,
a day of distress and of anguish, a day of storm and
of desolation, a day of darkness and of gloominess, a
day of clouds and of thick gloom, 16 a day of horn and
of alarm signal, against the fortified cities and against
the high corner towers. 17 And I will cause distress to
mankind, and they will certainly walk like blind men;
because it is against Jehovah that they have sinned. And
their blood will actually be poured out like dust, and their
bowels like the dung. 18 Neither their silver nor their gold
will be able to deliver them in the day of Jehovah’s fury;
but by the fire of his zeal the whole earth will be devoured,
because he will make an extermination, indeed a terrible
one, of all the inhabitants of the earth."
(Zephaniah 1:14-18) (New World Translation)
www.WatchTower.org

"And the word of Jehovah continued to occur to me, saying...
‘An end, the end, has come upon the four extremities of the
land. Now the end is upon you, and I must send my anger
against you, and I will judge you according to your ways
and bring upon you all your detestable things. And my eye
will not feel sorry for you, neither will I feel compassion, for
upon you I shall bring your own ways, and in the midst of
you your own detestable things will come to be; and YOU
people will have to know that I am Jehovah.’ "
(Ezekiel 7:1-4) (NWT) www.WatchTower.org

9 I, the LORD, will show no mercy or pity when
that time comes. In my anger I will destroy the
earth
and every sinner who lives on it.
(Isaiah 13:9) (Contemporary English Version) -BibleGateway

5 But your many enemies will become like fine dust, the ruthless
hordes like blown chaff. Suddenly, in an instant, 6 the LORD
Almighty will come with thunder and earthquake and great noise,
with windstorm and tempest and flames of a devouring fire.
(Isaiah 29:5-6) (NIV) -BibleGateway

"And those slain by Jehovah will certainly come to be in
that day from one end of the earth clear to the other end
of the earth. They will not be bewailed, neither will they be
gathered up or be buried. As manure on the surface of the
ground they will become."
(Jeremiah 25:33) (Young's Literal Translation)
-BibleGateway

7 A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right
hand, but it will not come near you. 8 You will only observe
with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked.
(Psalms 91:7-8) (NIV) -BibleGateway

But the vast majority of mankind has rejected Jehovah.
The nominal Christians flock to their churches to hear
what their senseless priests and ministers of Christendom
preach. They tell of an imaginary God who "loves everybody
no matter what".

17 You make God tired with all your talk.
"How do we tire him out?" you ask.
By
saying, "God loves sinners and sin alike.
God loves all." And also by saying,
"Judgment? God's too nice to judge."
(Malachi 2:17) (MSG) -BibleGateway

Their Ministers promise their gullible flock Heaven;
a promise they cannot deliver!

13 No one has ever gone into heaven except the
one who came from heaven—the Son of Man.
(John 3:13) (NIV) -BibleGateway

The people who populate Christendom's churches
have missed out on really getting to know the real
God, His plans and His requirements for us all and
that does not please Him!

1 "I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me;
I was found by those who did not seek me. To a nation
that did not call on my name, I said, 'Here am I, here
am I.'" 2
"I opened my arms to my own people all day
long, but they have rebelled. They follow their own evil
paths and thoughts."
(Isaiah 65:2) (NIV) -BibleGateway

In fact, most people do not even believe that Jehovah
is about to bring and end to this evil world at all!

"Because sentence against an evil work is not executed
speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully
set in them to do evil."
(Ecclesiastes 8:11) (NIV) -BibleGateway

3 First of all, you must understand that in the last
days scoffers will come, scoffing and following
their own evil desires. 4 They will say, "Where is
this 'coming' he promised? Ever since our fathers
died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning
of creation." 5 But they deliberately forget that long
ago by God's word the heavens existed and the earth
was formed out of water and by water. 6 By these
waters also the world of that time was deluged and
destroyed. 7 By the same word the present heavens
and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day
of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.
(2Peter 3:3-7) (NIV) -BibleGateway

17 But you must remember, beloved, the predictions
of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. 18 They said
to you, "In the last time there will be scoffers, following
their own ungodly passions."
(Jude 1:17-18) (King James Version) -BibleGateway

What is in store for the people of this world
who have chosen to blithely ignore Jehovah?

12 "I will `destine' you to the sword. All of you
will bow before the executioner, for when I called,
you did not answer. When I spoke,
you did not
listen
. You deliberately sinned--before my very
eyes--and chose to do what you know I despise."
(Isaiah 65:12) (NLT) -BibleGateway

10 In just a little while, the wicked will be no more;
though you look carefully at his place, he will not be
there. 11 But the meek shall inherit the land and delight
themselves in abundant peace.
(Psalms 37:10-11) (Englsih Standard Version) -BibleGateway

And what about the people who love Jehovah?

4 And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke
many people: and they shall beat their swords into plow-
shares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall
not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn
war any more.
(Isaiah 2:4) (KJV) -BibleGateway

"He will swallow up death for ever; and the Lord Jehovah
will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the reproach
of his people will he take away from off all the earth."
(Isaiah 25:8) (ASV) -BibleGateway

28 Don't be so surprised! Indeed, the time is coming
when all the dead in their graves will hear the voice
of God's Son, 29 and they will rise again. Those who
have done good will rise to eternal life, and those who
have continued in evil will rise to judgment.
(John 5:28-29) (NLT) -BibleGateway

5 Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the
ears of the deaf unstopped. 6 Then will the lame leap
like a deer, and the mute tongue shout for joy. Water
will gush forth in the wilderness and streams in the desert.
(Isaiah 35:5-6) (NIV) -BibleGateway

"Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth.
The former things will not be remembered, nor will
they come to mind."
(Isaiah 65:17) (NIV) -BibleGateway

25 The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and
the lion shall eat straw like the ox; and dust shall be
the serpent's food. They shall not hurt nor destroy
in all my holy mountain, saith Jehovah.
(Isaiah 65:25) (ASV) -BibleGateway

Can we be sure that these strange predictions
will actually come true?

"God cannot tell lies! And so his promises and
vows are two things that can never be changed.
We have run to God for safety. Now his promises
should greatly encourage us to take hold of the
hope that is right in front of us."
(Hebrews 6:18) (CEV) -BibleGateway

11 "So is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish
what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I
sent it."
(Isaiah 55:11) (NIV) -BibleGateway

We live, for now, in a dangerous world filled with
warning signs needed to protect us from hazards
of our own making. We look forward to a new world
very soon where warning signs will not be needed.

Jehovah's new world will be exclusively for His
people only.
It will be a peaceful and serene
world for a thousand years.

1 And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven,
having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand
a great chain. 2 He seized the dragon, that ancient
serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him
for a thousand years. 3 He threw him into the
Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep
him from deceiving the nations anymore until the
thousand years were ended. After that, he must be
set free for a short time.
(Revelation 20:1-3) (NIV) -BibleGateway

The people who refused to learn about Jehovah
and His plans will soon be summarily disposed of.
For the vast majority of humankind:

This is the Final Warning!

SEEKING TO HAVE
THEIR EARS TICKLED

T
he Bible message has been watered down by the
priests and ministers of Christendom so the people
of the world will accept it. These religious leaders
and teachers are attempting to please their listeners
rather than please God by delivering his message
"undiluted". The churches are more concerned with
pleasing their people.

"Let’s not offend anyone or they won't
come to our church."

- Dec. 21 2003 article -in The Daily Sentinel

This was prophesied long ago in the Bible:

"For the time will come when they will not
endure sound doctrine; but
wanting to have
their ears tickled
, they will accumulate for
themselves teachers in accordance to their
own desires."
(2Timothy 4:3) (New American Standard Bible) BibleGateway

The truth from the Bible can often seem harsh
to those hearing it or reading it.  As a result,
some prefer to hear what will make them happy.
They want to hear that nothing is going to change
and that they don't have to change or do any work.

1 Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the
last times some will turn away from what we
believe; they will follow lying spirits and teachings
that come from demons. 2 These teachers are
hypocrites and liars. They pretend to be religious,
but their consciences are dead.
(1Timothy 4:1-2) (New Living Translation) BibleGateway

This new religious philosophy to tell people what they
want to hear is not God's - but man’s - doctrine.

PEOPLE WANT TO HEAR THIS:

"GOD LOVES YOU JUST AS YOU ARE."
"THERE ARE NO WRONGS - ONLY RIGHTS."
"THE EARTH IS NEVER GOING TO CHANGE."
"ACCEPT GOD AND YOU ARE SAVED."
"ACCEPT JESUS AND YOU ARE SAVED."
"YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO A SINGLE THING - RELAX!"
"God does not need a name..."

No effort - no changes, no wrongs, no problems.

Is this really the message that God’s prophets deliver?

"Am I now trying to win the approval of men,
or of God? Or am I trying to please men?
If I were still trying to please men, I would
not be a servant of Christ.
"

(Galatians 1:10) (New International Version)
BibleGateway

"On the contrary, we speak as men approved by God
to be entrusted with the gospel
. We are
 not trying
to please men  - but God, who tests our hearts. "
(1Thessalonians 2:4) (NIV)
BibleGateway

The Bible makes it clear that when Christ returns -
he will
settle accounts with everyone on the earth.
We will all be either rewarded or punished for our
present and past deeds.

24You see that a person is justified by what he does
and not by faith alone.
26As the body without the
spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.
(James 2:24,26) (NIV) BibleGateway

Most people don't want to hear that.
That is quite understandable
.

THEY ALSO DO NOT WANT TO HEAR THIS:

"God will give to each person according to
what he has done
."
(Romans 2:6) (NIV)
BibleGateway

"... each will  receive his own reward according to
his own labor. "
(1Corinthians 3:8) (NASB)
BibleGateway

What labor?

30 If you are not on my side, you are against me.
If you don't gather in the harvest with me, you
scatter it
.
(Matthew 12:30) (Contemporary English Version) BibleGateway

But that sounds like work. We just want to have fun.

We can do anything we want because
we are saved, aren’t we?

"If we deliberately keep on sinning after we
have received the knowledge of the truth,
no sacrifice for sins is left, but only
a fearful
expectation of judgment
and of raging fire
that will consume the enemies of God."
(Hebrews 10:26,27) (NIV) BibleGateway

"PUNISH" AND "OBEY" ARE WORDS
THAT THEY DO NOT WANT TO HEAR

"He will punish those who do not obey the
gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished

with everlasting destruction and shut out from the
presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his
power."
(2Thessalonians 1:8,9) (NIV) BibleGateway

"And I saw the dead, great and small, standing
before the throne, and books were opened.
Another book was opened, which is
the book
of life. The
 dead were judged according to
what they had done
as recorded in the books."
(Revelation 20:12) (NIV) BibleGateway

Some people must think that even though Jehovah had
His prophets write these words, He doesn't really mean it.

Is That wise?

Do people today want to hear the truth
or have their ”ears tickled”?

What else do people need to know?

1 And now, O ye priests, this commandment is
for you. 2 If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay
t to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith
Jehovah of hosts, then will I send the curse upon
you, and I will curse your blessings; yea, I have
cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart.
(Malachi 2:1-2) (American Standard Version) BibleGateway

Why is this important?

32 And it hath come to pass, Every one who calleth
in the name of
Jehovah is delivered,
(Joel 2:32) (ASV) BibleGateway

Just about everybody on the earth knows who Jesus Christ is.

Why do so few people know what God’s name is?

Most English Bibles refer to a God or a Lord.

Is that sufficient?

"For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or
on earth, as indeed
there are many "gods" and many
"lords"
, yet for us there is but one God, the Father..."
(1Corinthians 8:5,6) (New International Version)  -Biblegateway

And who is this one God?

"I am Jehovah, and there is none else; besides me there is no God."
(Isaiah 45:5) (American Standard Version)  -Biblegateway

The American Standard Bible has Jehovah’s name in it where it belongs:

"I will praise thy name for ever and ever… Great is Jehovah,
and greatly to be praised; And his greatness is unsearchable."
(Psalm 145:2,3) (ASV) -Biblegateway

"Every one that is called by my name, and whom I have
created for my glory, ...Let all the nations be gathered
together and let the peoples be assembled: ...let them
bring their witnesses, that they may be justified; or let
them hear, and say, It is truth.
Ye are my witnesses,
saith Jehovah,
and my servant whom I have chosen;
that ye may know and believe me, and understand that
I am he:
before me there was no God formed, neither
shall there be after me."

(Isaiah 43:7,10-12) (ASV)  -Biblegateway

"Therefore, behold, I will cause them to know, this once
will I cause them to know my hand and my might; and they
shall know that my name is Jehovah."

(Jeremiah 16:21) (ASV)  -Biblegateway

Are there other Bibles that have Jehovah’s name in them?

23 And I have sanctified My great name, That is profaned
among nations, That ye have polluted in your midst, And
known have the nations that I [am] Jehovah, An affirmation
of the Lord Jehovah, In My being sanctified in you before
your eyes."
(Ezekiel 36:23) (Young’s Literal Translation) -Biblegateway

"7 And My holy name I make known in the midst of My people
Israel, And I pollute not My holy name any more, And known
have the nations that I, Jehovah, the Holy One, [am] in Israel."
(Ezekiel 39: 21,7) (Darby) -Biblegateway

3 And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob,
by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH
was I not known to them.
(Exodus 6:3) (King James Version)
-Biblegateway

Why do some Bibles have God’s name, Jehovah,
in them but most do not?

"In this translation we have followed the orthodox Jewish
tradition and substituted 'the Lord' for the name 'Yahweh'
and the phrase 'the Lord God' for the phrase 'the Lord
Yahweh'. In all cases where 'Lord' or 'God' represents an
original 'Yahweh' small capitals are employed."
--  Preface - 1935 Bible ;
J. M. Powis Smith and Edgar J. Goodspeed

Is this a good idea? Take Jehovah’s name out so
that people won’t know what His name is?

"How long, O God, will the adversary keep reproaching? Will
the enemy keep treating your name with disrespect forever?"
(Psalm 74:10) (NIV)  -Biblegateway

"Now therefore, what do I here, saith Jehovah, seeing
that my people is taken away for nought? they that rule
over them do howl, saith Jehovah, and my
name continually
all the day is blasphemed
. Therefore my people shall know
my name: therefore they shall know in that day that I am
he that doth speak; behold, it is I."
(Isaiah 52:5,6) (ASV) -Biblegateway

Jesus said that his Father’s name is holy and should be honored:

9 Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be honored.
(Matthew 6:9) (New Living Translation) -Biblegateway

Jesus used his father's name and told us to do the same.
In prayer to his father, Jehovah God, Jesus said:

"O righteous Father, even though the world does not know
you, I know you, and these know that you have sent me.
I
made known to them your name
, and I will continue to
make it known... "I have manifested Your name to the
men whom You gave Me out of the world."
(John 17:25,26,6) (English Standard Version) -Biblegateway

Will all of the people of the world eventually
know what God’s name is?

"…for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of Jehovah,
as the waters cover the sea."
(Isaiah 11:9) (ASV) -Biblegateway

"And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to
another, and from one sabbath to another,
shall all
flesh come to worship before me, saith Jehovah."

(Isaiah 66:23) (ASV) -Biblegateway

But we are saved now, right? We are just poor sinners.
We can sin all we want and God will still love us, right?

That is what is wrong with the world now.

What does the Bible say about that?

12 Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of
many will grow cold. 13
But those who endure to the
end will be saved.
(Matthew 24:12-13) (New Living Translation) BibleGateway

Jehovah’s Requirements

Since the dawn of history (the beginnings of mankind)
Jehovah, the God who created us, had requirements for us.

What kind of requirements?

At first, there were only two people living in the world. Adam
and his wife, Eve, lived alone in the Garden of Eden. For them,
there was only ONE commandment:

16 "And Jehovah God commanded the man, saying, Of every
tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17
but of the tree
of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it
:
for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."

(Genesis 2:16-17) (American Standard Version)  -BibleGateway

Did they follow the one simple commandment?

We know that they did not and the consequence was death.

Did they die immediately?

No. They lived for many hundreds of years. They were
supposed to live forever, but instead, eventually, they
did die - just as Jehovah warned them:

"5 Altogether, Adam lived 930 years, and then he died."
(Genesis 5:5) (New International Version)  -BibleGateway

Jehovah required other things later such as circumcision, but even
more important were the Ten Commandments that Jehovah dictated
to Moses while the Israelites were seeking the promised land.

Were the Ten Commandments hard to follow?

No. They were simple and designed to promote good relations
between Jehovah and His chosen people. Jesus even simplified
the Ten Commandments later down to just two.

How much simpler can it be?

36 "Teacher, which is the most important commandment
in the law of Moses?" 37 Jesus replied, " `You must love
the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and
all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment.
39 A second is equally important: `Love your neighbor as your-
self.' 40 All the other commandments and all the demands of
the prophets are based on these two commandments."
(Matthew 22:34-40) (New Living Translation)  -BibleGateway

Does Jehovah have any other requirements for us?

Yes. Very important requirements: He wants all of us
to live forever in harmony on a paradise earth.

beach11

Will all of us live forever on a paradise earth?

No. Most of the people of this world will be destroyed.

Why?

Most of the people of the world are willfully disobedient, even
disrespectful to Jehovah. Many people are even downright evil.

How can there be a paradise on the earth
with evil and disobedient people in it?

There cannot be a true paradise with these people around.
The evil people are what is wrong with the world now.

What will Jehovah do about them?

10 In just a little while, the wicked will be no
more; though you look carefully at his place,
he will not be there. 11 But the meek shall inherit
the land and delight themselves in abundant peace.
(Psalms 37:10-11) (ESV)  -BibleGateway

This is fair warning!

The time is now for these disobedient, disrespectful
and evil people to change their ways.

But will they change?

Most people prefer to follow the popular but senseless
teachings of their church ministers and priests instead.

"My minister says that we will be raptured to Heaven when
'The End' comes. I'm saved! I'm going to Heaven baby!"

Realistically, people do not change easily. Most of the people
in the world are going to continue to be disobedient, disrespectful
and evil right up to the end when they are all destroyed. They will
gladly listen to their ministers and follow them to their doom.

Why doesn’t Jehovah make people be obedient and respectful?

People are allowed to choose how they want to act. Jehovah
can make them want to change by force or threat. It would be easy
enough to make people obey Jehovah’s requirements when they are
scared. This use of force is not what Jehovah wants. He is our loving
Father who wishes for people to voluntarily behave. The people who
willingly follow the teachings of Jesus and his apostles will live; the
ones who disregard these simple requirements will die. Nobody is
being forced to behave. People get plenty of chances to learn proper
behavior from Jehovah’s servants, but Jesus never told his followers
to force anybody to listen to them:

14 "If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words,
shake the dust off your feet when you leave that home or
town. 15 I tell you the truth, it will be more bearable for
Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for
that town."
(Matthew 10:14-15) (NIV)  -BibleGateway

Can evil people pretend to be good and survive?

No. Pretending will not work. Jesus and Jehovah
are not fooled by outward appearances:

15 "You judge by human standards; I pass judgment on no
one. 16 But if I do judge, my decisions are right, because I
am not alone. I stand with the Father, who sent me."
(John 8:15-16) (NIV)  -BibleGateway

"…for Jehovah seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on
the outward appearance, but Jehovah looketh on the heart."
(1Samuel 16:7) (ASV)  -BibleGateway

Who is trying to teach the people of the
world Jehovah’s requirements?

Are the Catholic or Protestant ministers and priests
teaching the things Jehovah requires?

No! The ministers of Christendom merely serve to tell people
what they want to hear instead of what they need to know.

The apostle Paul prophesied this in his letter to Timothy:

1 "Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times
some will turn away from what we believe; they will follow
lying spirits and teachings that come from demons. 2 These
teachers are hypocrites and liars. They pretend to be religious,
but their consciences are dead. 3 They will say it is wrong to
be married and wrong to eat certain foods."
(1Timothy 4:1-3) (NLT)  -BibleGateway

What People are actively teaching the truth
to those who will listen all over the world?

Jehovah’s Witnesses carry out a world-wide preaching
work unmatched by any other religion. Many evangelists
such as Dr. Billy Graham have preached their version of
Christianity to millions of people, but according to the
Watchtower yearbook for the year 2007, more than 6.9
million members of Jehovah’s Witnesses spent
1.4 billion
hours in service work (door-to-door preaching) and conducted
over 6.5 million home Bible studies in 236 countries
in the
year 2007 alone.

From: http://www.jw-media.org/people/statistics.htm

Why do they do that?

14 When the good news about the kingdom has been
preached all over the world and told to all nations,
the end will come.
(Matthew 24:14) (CEV) -BibleGateway

Would Jesus Really Like
Being Called
Our Homeboy?

People who belong to the churches of Christendom love
Jesus so much that they find many creative ways to show
their love for him. People hope to flatter him by making
him an icon and even calling him “their homeboy”.

Is that a good idea?

THE JESUS FAD

He’s a movie star and a pop culture icon. And now Jesus
is also a fashion statement.

A slew of designers and boutiques have been jumping on
the Jesus bandwagon, offering everything from T-shirts and
baseball caps to belts and socks. And celebrities from
Madonna to Pamela Anderson have been spotted sporting
the Jesus chic wear.

A Los Angeles company called "Teenage Millionaire" makes
shirts that say
“Jesus Is My Homeboy” on them. Jesus wear
is popping up in mainstream chains like Urban Outfitters.
The “Homeboy” shirts retail for about $25, and Hoy said
they’re selling thousands of them a month.

Many Christians today are proud to display their slogans about Jesus.
It has become a popular past time to brag to the world about being a
"Jesus Freak" and calling Jesus “my homeboy". So they think they
are declaring their love for Jesus and their devotion to his teachings.
After all, Jesus died for us!

What is Jesus going to do for us next?

Jesus is about to return to us as our king!

On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written:
KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.
(Revelation 19:16) (NIV) Bible Gateway
