| I had three important questions to google. I have the chance now, but I've forgotten them. Now, I will never know...
Why are combos SO overpriced??
I really wish I knew. I wish I could express this concern to the manufacturer's so they could lower their prices.

reject our message
oppose our arguments
despise our persons

Approaches to Conflict Resolution
Conflict Resolution is simply an attempt to minimize or alleviate disputes among people.
Avoidance - a passive approach of dealing with conflict, which usually occurs with conflict between 2 or more people.
Appropriate when
1) issue is trivial
2) there is no chance of satisfying your own concern
3) others can solve the conflict more effectively
4) damage of confronting out-weighs the benefits of resolution
Accommodation - giving in to another's will while sacrificing your own needs for the sake of others
Appropriate when
1) issue is more important to others than it is to you
2) you realize you are wrong
3) you want to build up social credits for later issues
4) continued competition would only damage the cause
Compromise - both parties gain and lose something in order to come to an agreement
Appropriate when
1) goals are moderately important, but not worth effort or disruption
2) it is necessary to arrive at solutions under time pressure
3) to achieve temporary settlement to a complex issue
Forcing - both sides use power, threats, or formal authority to satisfy needs, regardless of impact on other group members
May be necessary when
1) quick, decisive action is needed
2) unpopular actions are required
3) issues are vital for mission accomplishment
Collaboration - an attempt, by all sides, to satisfy all parties involved through honest discussion of differences
Appropriate when
1) both sets of concerns are too important to compromise
2) commitment is necessary
3) hard feelings that need to be dealt with have been interfering with interpersonal relationships
Consensus - agreeing with others in a group, a win/win way of reaching
closure on an issue, all parties discuss an issue until the group
arrives at a decision
If a consensus is reached, there would be
1) a greater buy-in to the decision
2) an increased chance of team commitment to the decision
3) stronger support of the decision by team members because of having had a personal stake in the decision making

| Weary Thoughts of You
There is nothing you can do.
...it's over.
They even ate all my cake.
I'm tired of hearing your stories...
I want to be THERE.
Why are you too busy for me??
| being five
Today in Sunday School, one of
the little girls wore a satin red dress with puffy sleeves. During
storytime, I saw the boy sitting next to her petting one of the
sleeves. And in my head, I saw Deb and Napoleon in kindergarten.
"I like your sleeves"
"I made them just for you"
Later on, I was reading the
GoldenBooks version of the first Lion King to a little girl. This kid
is exceptionally bright. Once she asked me which was farther away from
Lynchburg, China or India? How many five year olds know that they are
in Lynchburg, much more think of existences outside of theirs? We were
on the first page of the book, the circle of life, when Simba is dusted
(christened?)...
Girl: "Do lions lay eggs?"
Me: "No, they have babies the same way humans do. The eggs are inside the mom."
Girl: "Well, how do they get them out?"
Me: "They push really hard."
In my head: "Ask your mom when you're older."
In her head: "I am older."
YOU ARE FIVE...enjoy it while it lasts.
I fell sad rather quickly the
other day when my mom was babysitting the neighbor's baby girl. The
last time that I saw her (this past fall) she was just a baby, no
walking, no talking, no feeding herself. Now, she is doing all those
things and how long has it been? They grow up so fast and I never
realized it. I've heard about it. Just never realized it.
Wait till I have my own. Muahahahahahahaaa..

| Don't you just love excitement stirred by threat of snow??
Grocery stores crowded but the mall deserted...
Running to the library for movies just in case...
Starting a fire in the living room and drinking hot tea...
Storing pop on the back deck cuz it's colder outside...
Eating popcorn...
Staying up late on a school night...
Talk of blizzards past ("Back when I was in Buffalo...")...
Watching, waiting, hoping...
The way snow insulates what it covers...
Sleeping late cuz school is cancelled...
Playing in the snow till you're so cold and wet you can't feel your fingers and toes...
Building the city's biggest or strangest snowman...

Hot chocolate and marshmellows...
Just being together, safe at home.
