  • Something really neat!!

Last week at the reenactment I bought a replica of a U.S. Springfield 1863 match grade 58 cal. rifle for $400( normal price is about $700) and it is accurate to over 700yds. I got it used from a gun smith who took real good care of it.
He has blued the barrel(Springfield normally did not) and bored out the nipple so it will never miss fire, he gave the stock a light finish(normally they had a dark finish).

I will post more pics later.
You know it is hard to get pics. of something soooooo long.( It's overall length is 55 1/2 in.).

  • It has been awhile. I have been busy working. Last week we went to Evansville, IN for the day with the Behrens. It was for Heather's birthday. The girls wanted to go to a bridal/formal store to look at formals. So that left us guys with all the little people waiting. So we took the kids to TOYSRUS think they would have fun. They thought it was a waste of time and all the toys were silly. Then we were at the Mall. We don't do malls but they have a great western store that does a great job of shaping hats. So we went there to get my hat worked on. Boy did the kids like the western store. We couldn't get them out of there. They didn't even find build a bear that much fun. I guess we have some country kids!
Anyway, while we all stopped at the food court bathrooms (All means 17 of us) Timothy, Lyndsae, Wesley, Heather holding Grayson and myself were waiting. Then we heard a gun shot right next to us. Lyndsae turned around to see  a guy taking  a small hand gun out of his pocket. It accidently went off in his pocket. No one was hurt. He had a big hole in his pants.  It even made the news. We gathered everyone up and headed out.
    More later...
