Hi Amy Since we had a very high acceptance rate, the Committee decided to only offer one position on the waitlist at this time. Our class is currently full so we unfortunately will not be getting to your number before the Provisional becomes firm date. Regards ______ _________ Student Liaison Officer Department of Physical Therapy Faculty of Medicine University of Toronto
*blank stare* What? shit. ..noo.. what??
background: This is the only program out of the eight that I applied to that didn't accept me. This is the program that I want the most (for a really, really long list of reasons). It was okay though because it wasn't a full rejection - they waitlisted me at #8. And everyone I talked to (reasonable folks, past UT PT students, and even the Student Liaison Officer (in a previous e-mail)) said that #8 is likely a shoe-in because they typically accepted up to 30 on the waitlist each year.
Apparently not this year. Just my friggin luck. Seriously. What the hell.
Ok, so I was pretty upset yesturday. But I felt better after a few phone chats with my VIPs, considering a few different perspectives, and a softball practice. (And based on how I hit yesturday at practice, I think someone should get me emotionally charged before each game, hahaha.)
So I'll be heading for Western come September then. It's a two-year program with no summer breaks. That'll be two years of not being in Toronto: two years of no nerding into the night at Gerstein, no chillin' regularly with my T.O. homies, no packaged mom-cooked meals, and no livin' it up with Bons in our apartment.
:/
What will I get instead?
(To be continued...)
Oh my friggin ---!!! I just realized... no more ballet o.O ... wut wut wutwutwut?!?!?!
When I walked out of the shower today, my mom was hunched over an her bed, fingering through odd pieces of bracelets and rings. Being naturally attracted to shiny things, I gravitated towards her and joined her in the peering.
Among the heap (well, not really heap) were gold and jade bracelets that my bro, sis, and I had recieved when we were babies - tiny little hoops and loops that now fit snugly around three of my fingers. And then I came across a gold bracelet that had engravings on its nameplate:
樂快 (happy)
So simple, but it tweaked a little string in my heart. It's perfect. What better blessing can you give to a baby?
I liked it so much that I feebly attempted to wrap it around my own wrist and failing that, I rested it on my wrist and pretended that I was wearing it, hehe. And bons looked at me like I was psycho. Hahaha.
I hope that bracelet will still be around for my kid.
