I have recently become seriously addicted to a little show called The Office. (We won’t even mention my husband Kyle, who constantly fights the urge to say “That’s what she said” and learned the theme song on his tin whistle. I have it on tape if you want proof.)

I’ve missed all three seasons that actually aired on TV, so I’ve been catching up on season 3 from fanpop.com. They have little ads that show polls fans have answer about the show. This is the one that bothers me:

Honestly, have those 12% seen ANY episodes of The Office? Better yet, do they have SOULS? Pam and Jim belong together. Karen is just a distraction. Period. I still feel like punching those 12% in the face… so if you’re one of them: watch out.

I’m one of those people who needs some kind of motivation to exercise. Music and television help me with this – thank you Colvin Recreational Center. I’ve recently made a couple playlists to pump me up while I run and I wanted to share them with you so you may get pumped up in the same manner. Here goes.

Playlist Example #1 – Journey Hits

1) Don’t Stop Believing (there's a slow intro so be patient)

2) Lovin’, Touchin, Squeezin’

3) Oh Sherry

4) Someday Love Will Find You

5) Wheel in the Sky

6) Any Way You Want It

7) Be Good To Yourself

Just a suggestion: I wouldn’t go for the other slower hits (though they are excellent) like Faithfully, Foolish Heart, Open Arms, Lights, etc. unless you’re into that. They are much lower on the pump scale.

Playlist Example #2 – Radio Stuff

1)      Rehab – Amy Winehouse

2)      Anonymous – Bobby Valentino

3)      Tambourine – Eve

4)      Fergalicious – Fergie

5)      Hollaback Girl – Gwen Stefani

6)      My Love – Justin Timberlake

7)      SexyBack – Justin Timberlake

8)      Get it Shawty – Lloyd

9)      Say It Right – Nelly Furtado

10)  Party Like a Rock Star – Shop Boyz

11)  Sexy Lady – Yung Berg feat. Junior

I realize this list may not be your cup of tea, but give it a shot and I promise it’ll be fun. It can also double as a “Dance Your Pants Off” playlist. Also good exercise.

I took this self portrait of myself today before getting physical.

That’s it for me I guess. I’m leaving for vacation to Florida very soon and I’m pretty excited about it. See you soon.

This post has been dedicated to Hannah King, for helping me give The Office one more chance.

So what amI up to, you ask? Oh, I’ve just been summering.

Basicallylately has been a series of alternating between opposites. One side, liking thejob and summer class because they are non-stressful and then kickin it at homedoing things I like or thinking about doing things I like. Other side, realizing that I don’t have any close friends other than Kyle and getting allsad-like. Not fun. If you read this, do me a favor and save me from myself!Call me and get me out of this apartment!

Usually inthe summer I at least pretend like I’m going to practice my music… set somekind of list of goals and whatnot.  Thissummer I’m in a rut. Practicing piano and looking for music to do with U.Singers is the last thing I want to do. I feel bad about that, but right now Ithink my contentment in life is more important than fulfilling expectationspeople have of me. So there it is. I do what makes me happy and believe it willbenefit my life. I’m not going to worry about the future.

Enough ofthe seriousness. Here’s a question: Don’t you hate it when a cat wants you topet them… so you pet them and as you are petting they walk just out of yourreach? Then they’re like “where’d you go?” and come back and do the same thingagain. I honestly think cats expect us to have Stretch Armstrong arms orsomething. Clive does this all the time. If you want me to pet you, then takethe pets! Don’t play hard to get.

I like mycoffee shop job and one of my favorite things about the job is when I clean outthe strawberry container. Squirt in some soap, then spray and you magically getPINK BUBBLES! Man, it’s a blast. You should try it sometime.

I reallylike all this rain we’ve been getting. (A)

I reallylike all this warm summer we’ve been getting. (B)

Therefore,

A v B, butnot both.

You startto think this way when you’re in Logic class every day.  So yeah… all this humidity is making me sweatyand stinky and curly-haired. I feel like I’m in a sauna! I do not like saunas! Therefore, I do not like this weather combo! If you do like saunas, you should get a "portable fir sauna box".

If thiswhole high school choir teacher thing doesn’t work for some reason, I’vefigured out my tri-income backup plan. I will (1) learn to sew, then sell myclothes and accessories on the side (2) teach voice lessons on the side (3)sing jazz tunes in a duet with my husband accompanying me in any venue thatwill take us on the side. Who knows? 3 sides could add up to somethingsubstantial. Sounds fun to me anyway. Here's me and Kyle in 30 years:

The end.

P.S. Whenpurchasing clear tape, always go with the matte and not the shiny. Just trustme.

Don't mind me... just returning after a YEAR.

I have a real journal made with real paper, but I figure why not vent here since I'm checking my email all the time anyway.

First off, why are people in authority always so uptight and making a bigger deal out of things than they should be? Case in point, Dr. Combs, the Head of the Music Department. I won't go into details, just know that a simple problem could be solved simply, but things are being blown out of proportion.

Second, I made a 93 on my Baroque Art History test. That basically means I'm a bad ass, since most of that class is art majors. The professor even asked if she could read from mine when we go over the tests on Thursday. Mmmmhmmm. Check that out.

The last concert of the semester was tonight. That is good. I'm sorry you missed it if you weren't there.

Lately I've been torn about sleeping. It is something I love to do, but sometimes I feel bad for it just because of what some people may think - which would be Kyle, I guess since he's the only one who lives with me. I've never ever felt like I was wasting time when I slept, but sometimes I do and it has nothing to do with Kyle. He never says anything about it, I just have fears in my head that he resents my sleeping so much. I don't know. He'll read this and then we'll talk about it. I know he doesn't care, but my mind thinks he does. My mind needs to shut up.

I was just reminded today that I will be the student conductor for University Singers next semester and that is scary. Mr. Lawlor asked me to pick out music I might want to work on and meet with him about it in the summer. I should be confident about all this, but certain people have affected me negatively in that sense (Garner). I don't know when I'll feel like I'm good enough, but hopefully it will be when I have my own choir someday.

I got March of the Penguins for Christmas and still haven't watched it. I really want to do that soon.

It is cloudy and rainy. I like that. It will be getting warm for summer soon. I also like that.

I'm probably going to get up early to do laundry tomorrow and do some last minute classroom observations that are due Thursday. So I should sleep probably. Bye.
