Addendum for Xanga version: Hey everybody! I've decided to revive this ancient blog, for reasons below. I might be deleting my myspace soon. Also I enjoyed the culture of this website much better (most of all, no pornbots).
SO I have missed doing my blog for a couple of weeks. I've been spending my time taking an Astronomy test and playing the original Dragon Warrior. The latter is a little history study for me. I was reading Toni Morrison last semester and she was saying something about going and finding your past, or just the relevant past to you. I figured I would do this myself. I was going to start with the easiest thing, which would be the history of video games--an industry I find myself participating in extensively. I am curious to see where games have come from, how far they have come in the last two decades. So I decided to play the very first RPG, which is the genre I have mostly played for a majority of my life. It's interesting, actually--even if you aren't a video game person. It's really a study in multiculturalism too; the earlier video games are pretty Japanese in cultural content. I really enjoy seeing what people have played off of. If I can think about it, these things I have spent so much time on have a single predecessor---Dragon Warrior. So far it is pretty standard fair. I guess I shouldn't expect more, because it essentially set the standard for RPGs.
Later I will be studying other things, like the naturalization process used for Polish immigrants coming to the USA in the first half of the 20th Century (the time my family came here). I'd also like to know more about the national histories of Poland and Ireland, which I know almost nothing about. There are other things I'd like to investigate too, but it's all a matter of free time. I will be having more free time soon too: I will be moving.
I haven't publicly said it yet, but in the beginning of summer my good friend Liz and I will be going to live with her brother in Eugene, Oregon. I really just wanted a complete change in my life, and I figure going to the west coast is the best way to do it. I have lived on this side of the United States for my entire life. I would also like to leave the United States sometime, but I would like to learn more languages before I go. I will be spending a year out of school (in order to garner in-state tuition), and then finishing my Bachelor's degree in Creative Writing/Traditional Art. I think this change will really help precipitate my writing--I plan to finish the book by the end of the year off from school.
Secondly: I had an epiphany the other day--MySpace is the Wal-Mart of the internet. MySpace is the one place where everyone goes for some shitty service that no one is really satisfied with, but subscribe to just because everyone else does. It's trying to destroy the rest of the internet and take it over for itself; and, worst of all, it's owned by Fox. So I imagine they will have every right to destroy the environment of absolute free speech that is guaranteed to internet users. SO--I might be deleting my account soon. I'll have to give it a little more thought. But if I do delete it, you can still keep in touch with me (if you even want to) via other websites, links to which I will leave on my profile after I am gone. It just scares me that MySpace has so many obligatory users.
