Did any one else think that the third Harry Potter movie was horrible? I thought they did a terrible job on it. That new director was just bad. I heard they are getting a new director for the fourth movie but that he is also pretty kiddy. I hope they don't mess that one up too.

I thought the third movie was brilliant. Far better then the first two. Well paced, it felt darker, older, best direction of the kids so far... The addition of the clock tower was so great...especially with the underlying time travel theme. Not to mention that David Thewlis & Gary Oldman were spectacular. The corporal patronous scene was AWESOME. I could go on and on. I was so pleased.

Here is something that I want to know...what is Snape doing for the Order? In GoF, when Volde returns & the death eaters come...volde says that their are 6 missing death eaters...3 dead in his service, one too cowardly to return, one, he believes who has left him forever (he will be killed of course), and one, his most faithful servant, who has already entered his service.

So, I won't go over the three dead ones, but I had always assumed that Cowardly = Karkaroff (sp?), Left him forever = Snape, Most Faithful = Crouch Jr.

I also had assumed that Snape's work for the order had involved being a spy. Here is why I no longer believe that to be true...

First of all yes the third movie was darker than the first two but not at all like the book was.  The third movie seemed so little kiddy compared to the book and they completely changed the scenery of the movie.  that bridge just came out of nowhere. There are so many other things wrong but yeah.

I thought about the fact that Snape would be going back to Voldemort to spy and how would he do that if Voldemort thought he had left the death eaters and had betrayed them before so i don't know what to say about that.  The 6th book will probably cover it though.

Okay...sorry I got cut off about the Snape thing. I don't think he is working directly for Voldemort...there is no way Voldemort would take him back just like that, especially after "betraying" him. I don't have really anything else to say about Snape other then JKR has said not to feel to sorry for him AND whatever he is doing is big. Mystery, mystery...

Question...I just thought of something. Why is it that the Potters (meaning James) aren't related to any of the other pureblood families that we know of? I was just re-reading some of OotP last night, "The Ancient and Most Noble House of Black" chapter....in this chapter we learn that Sirius is related to the LeStranges', the Malfoys' and even the Weasleys distantly. Harry seems surprised by this revelation, but Sirius points out that pureblood families are pretty well inter-related because of all the pure blood marriages...yet there has been no mention of how the Potters fit into all of that. This, of course, would not be true of Lily, but James was definately a pureblood...right? So why isn't he related to Sirius? or Lucius? or any other pureblood that we know of?

As for the third movie, I have to agree with courtnieirene.  I think that, yes, Alfonso Cuaron took some liberties with some of the scenery, and changed a few things, but the books are getting darker, and the movies need to as well.  Cuaron was a welcome change from Christopher Columbus.  Thw Whomping Willow was moved completely, and the bridge was added, but scenically, I thought that they were both effective in their additions.  Mike Newell is the new director for GoF.  He also did Four Weddings and a Funeral, but it will be a sad departure from a big step forward that the third movie took to go back to the Chris Columbus style of directing.  I also am curious as to how they are planning on putting that entire movie into one installment.  That will be a pretty good trick.  TONS of stuff!  Just my opinion, but I think that PoA was a great movie, and a big step forward for the franchise in general.

What is everyone's favorite book and why?

I think my favorite is the 3rd but i loved the 5th one too. I think the whole thing with Harry finally finding some family in Sirius was great. I honestly think that Sirius will come back at some point. I don't think he is gone for good. What do you guys think?
