| Smile through tears
My
brother’s wedding is coming soon. I
still have to get shoes, go for my final fitting, find jewelry, makeup, and her
bachelorette gift. I called my cousin
because his babysitter does black people hairstyles. So I asked for her number and he said he would
pay for me to get my hair did. Let me
explain something. Most of the time, a
good black person hair do is over $100 just to get it done. That does not count for the fake hair, perms,
accessories or anything else that might go into the bill. And I could have afforded it but it would have
come out of my savings. I hate doing
that. SO God provided a way for me to
get my hair did without me even thinking to ask for provision. I am loved and blessed. Yesterday will probably be one of the best
days of my life. Now, most people would
call me crazy but it was. I helped my
brother and his fiancé move all their stuff into their apartment. That included putting together their queen
size bed, tables, dressers, and hauling stuff up three flights of stairs. We started at about noon. We finished around six. By the time we were done the apartment looked
lived in. It was so fun. It was Rachel, (my bro’s fiancé) Rebecca,
(Her little sister) Sam, (my bro’s best friend) my bro (George) and me. I loved to see the excitement on their
faces. Things lately have been a little
sad for me, but everyday, God gives me a reason to smile. He is my reason to smile. Just the little blessings. My friend left for the Marines today. I worry about him. I hope he does well. Six weeks of boot camp. I have no idea what happens after that but I
hope I hear from him again.

| Something is wrong. I don't know what. I don't know when or how it started either. But last night something bad happened and I don't know how to fix it. I didn't do anything but it is all my fault. Maybe I did something that I don't know about. Maybe I am over panicking. But something is wrong that I did not do and it is all my fault. It is bothering me so much I can't sleep. If I can take my mind off of it for even five minutes I consider it a blessing. I wish I knew what to do.

| I don't care
There is this
girl in my class who when sick, weather change, or in an extreme emotion will
throw up everything that she drank for the day. Her first few days of school she was not used
ot being away from her mom. SO she threw
up a few times then. Since then we have
never had a real problem with her throwing up. She did it once and we did not even realize it
till later when we found where she had been playing. She will fuss a little before hand as a
warning and then will just spew and fuss a little more afterwards (because the
acids burn her throat) then will go back to playing like it never happened. The other day, we saw it coming. She was getting unprovokingly irritable, but
before we could get her clothes off, she just let it all out. Now she drinks pediasure. That is all her diet consists of. SO in one day she will drink about two cups
worth of it. Which does not seem a lot
to you but when you see it coming out of this little girl’s mouth you almost
feel her pain. She will normally throw
up about twice within a ten minute time span. It makes you want to cry because she throws up
so much it looks like she is just swimming in it. SO back to the story. She threw up all over herself and was still
very fussy as if she was ready to do it agin. She wanted to be held and comforted but she
looked like it was coming out any minute and I was trying to put a kid to sleep.
Finally the teacher came over and took
her and held her. The teacher’s
assistant that was trying to clean her up said, “She could throw up again.” Now the teacher had on this white blouse that
day and I don’t think she would have been able to wash the stains out had the
little girl thrown up again. But the
teacher simply said, “I don’t care.” The
teacher’s assistant was not in the wrong for not holding her. No one was in the wrong. But that teacher made a necessary decision to
love a child who at the time was difficult to love. It just totally reminded me of how we look to
the world. We look dirty. If yothe world associates with us it might stain its white
reputation. Or maybe even ruin it. But then God comes and give us the necessary
love that the world was hesitant to give us. “They might ruin your future.” And God scoops us up and wraps his arms
around us, giving us what we need at the risk of his ruin or failure or
heartbreak and says, “I don’t care.”

I am so Thankful for the odd blessings
that God gives me. Things I am not
asking for, but am still receiving. Just
when I think he is finished I get another surprise. What kind of blessings am I talking
about? Why my friends of course. I am enthralled right now. I really don’t want anything enough to the
point of praying about it. I am wholly
satisfied. But in my satisfaction I keep receiving gifts as if it were
Christmas. I struggle with abandonment
issues. I never trust someone to
remember me let alone take time for me after I am gone. I don’t expect that. I am not cynical about it I simply have
unconsciously stopped waiting to be remembered.
But God has been bringing me out of that. I recently ended a friendship that really
hurt me more than helped me. It was
hard. Then I began to go to this girl’s
group and they have become my support group.
I love them. Then my friend, Alfred
and I began talking on the phone. It was
a surprise because we are close but it is rare that he would call me. So that was an unexpected gift. The other day I got a call from my friend
Micah. I love listening to him and
reading his blogs because he is so refreshing.
I don’t get to talk to him on the phone much though. But he called the other day and it was such a
blessing to me. That was an unnecessary
and unexpected gift from God. I was able
to get a hold of my friend, Caleb. I had
not talked to him in months either. I
practically raised him so it was nice to find out what he was up to. I was able to talk to my girl, Tiana a few
days later. It had been a while since we
spoke as well. We got into some pretty deep
conversations about how our friendship had grown since the eighth grade when we
first met. And I realized how blessed I
was to have her for a friend. Then I was
blessed with being able to catch up with mi hermano, Sam.
He was my escort to a banquet. I
had not talked to him in a long time so it was nice to spend time with him
again. The next day, I was able to get a
hold of my friend Amanda. We have been
playing phone tag for almost a month. It
was nice to hear her voice again and to catch up and whine about being
apart. Almost right after that I received
a call from my friend Adam. I love
talking to Adam because he is so uplifting.
He really listens and knows when I am discouraged and prays for me.(sometimes I hate it
cuz I don’t want him to know I am upset and he can see right through me.) Then I was able to talk to Mari. I love her.
Talking to her is like talking to a morning ray of sunshine beaming down
on a blossoming flower. I don’t know why
but that is what I think of when talking to her. Then, soon after, I was able to talk to my
friend, Ryan. I was really not expecting
his call. I think his was the biggest
surprise. He is that quiet guy that
everyone should listen to but will only talk when you are listening. The only way I can describe him is a
sweetie. I really do not talk on the
phone so much. It sound like I live on
it but this is rare. But I knew it was
just God wanting me to feel special. It
was like His way of saying, “You are special and remembered. I will show you that I love and remember you
through these people.” I love my friends
and I love God.
