  • Bellydancing, Fatal Injuries, and Politics

Those three words sum up the last three days of my life. Let me summarize.

Monday - I, Maegan Carnew, took a bellydancing class at our gym. Hard to believe? I thought so.
It was a lot of fun... I'm not thinking of taking it up professionally or anything, but it was enjoyable.

Tuesday- A piece of my Sex and the City case broke, landed on the floor, and proceeded to lodge itself in the bottom of my foot. Part of it broke off, and I didn't notice there was still a piece in my foot, I was walked around for a minute or two more until I couldn't put any wait on that foot. To make a long story short, I could not get it out myself, and neither could my roommate (it was really far into my foot, and we couldn't pull it out fast enough to not cause me immense amounts of pain) so we had this guy we know do it. It took him five minutes to pull all of it out of my foot. Those were five, very unpleasant, minutes for me. It ended up being a little over a centimeter long and was shaped like a little dagger; blunt at the top, pointy and jagged at the bottom. He had to break through two layer of skin to get it. I still can't figure out how it got into my foot like that!

Wednesday- I saw Frost/Nixon after school. It was really good. Michael Sheen was ah-ma-zing. I was probably the youngest person in that theatre but at least twenty years. They all looked at me like I was in the wrong theatre. 'Twas quite humorous!

Okay. Time to go to class. :)

  • Harry Potter and Mo Pitkins

So, as most of you know, last Friday the last Harry Potter book was released. Being the massive Harry Potter fan that I am, I went half way across the city to go to the Scholastic release party.

We got there at 8 pm and stood in the line for almost an hour.

While we waited in line, I took pictures with this really cute married couple dressed up like Tonks and Lupin and some random man who was juggeling.

They had an entire street closed off for the "party". I met the American editor of the books, and watched his live interview on CNN.

After that, Kelly, Adwin and myself headed back to Brooklyn to go to the Barnes and Noble midnight release party. It was absolutely insane. I have never seen so many people in a bookstore. You literally had no room to move.

The only thing that would have made it a better weekend would have been being with my friends back home. This was the first time JP and I weren't "together" for a Harry Potter weekend. But, alas, I survived it alone! I say alone... Kent and JP were texting me the whole time... which is what we would do if we were all in Texas anyways, but, ya know!

I went to a comedy club type place tonight with Kelly and Adwin.

We had a good time. Adwin was the only black guy there... so, as you would guess, a good deal of the jokes were directed towards him. Kelly got hit on by some sleezy French comedian. One of the other guys was from Houston, so we kind of had a mini moment.

We sat in the subway for what seemed like an eternity observing the rats while we waited on our train. I took some pictures of them, but I haven't uploaded them yet. They were freaking huge... like... these rats could probably eat my foot, huge.

Oh, before I forget, I was "I Know Who Killed Me" this morning. I only went because Kelly and Adwin are like, negative HP fans and they still went to the midnight stuff with me, so I went to the shit movie with them. It hurts my soul to see movies that like. It -really- hurts my soul to spend 11 bucks seeing movies like that!

Okay. Enough for tonight. I'm tired. Miss you guys.

  • Rain Drops Keep Fallin' On My Head...

Note to self - Look out of the window before you leave for school. If you do not, you will be soaked to the bone for the rest of the day. Not fun. Not fun at all.

Want to know what -is- fun? The Harry Potter Parties I went to! I had a blast. I have some pictures I'd like to post here... but I'm not quite sure how. Help anyone?

I'm extremely sad that the books are over. Eight years of my life is now finished. Sigh. It's almost like someone dying!!

    How are you all doing?
