Rest in Peace Grandma Jane

Last week as I was looking through Grandma's copy of the "..Purpose Driven Life".. (by Rick Warren)...

I came across a note she had written earlier in Feb- Mar.

., just before we found out she was not well, which said.


We are not put here on this earth
to be remembered...

we were put here to prepare for eternity !

That day she kept handing it to me (at least 6-8 times) asking me to read it to her !

Today... just minutes before she passed away,

I picked up the book again with the whole family there and opened up where it appeared she has shoved every bookmark she had.

There was the little note.

....

We are not put here on this earth

to be remembered...

we were put here to prepare for eternity !

There were many in that room who needed to hear this.

....

Grandma wanted to leave a message behind and that she did !

Rest in Peace Grandma !

Psalms 41:1-3 

gives us the answers to these questions ...

Blessed

is he

who considers the poor;

The Lord will

deliver him

in time of trouble.  

The Lord will

preserve him

and keep him alive,

And he will

be blessed

on the earth;

(Now ... not just in heaven) 

You will not

deliver him

to the will

of his enemies. 

The Lord will

strengthen him

on his bed of illness;

You will sustain him

on his sickbed.

..

And who exactly are the poor ?

Those without money,

those without a hope in this world,

those who are widowed/orphaned,

those who are afflicted

physically and emotionally,

oppressed and/or imprisoned,

handicapped ...

those who are spiritually afflicted
(those w/o Christ).

What does it mean

"CONSIDER THE POOR" ?

Does this mean we

are to hand them money ?

Well yeah...

if that is what we feel

led by the Lord to do !

BUT

giving someone who is

financially set back

... money...

isn't always the way to go.

We often times would be

more wise to give them food,

warm clothing,

help provide medical care,

do volunteer work
(at the local homeless shelter/soup kitchen/YMCA),

help in transporting them,

pray and interceded for them.

(or give to organizations/churches that do)

..

teach them a trade/skill,

give them work,

give them words of encouragement

and Godly counsel

... etc.

whatever seed you have to sow

is were to start !

I am preaching to my self here !!!

..

As I sat looking

at all of the recent doctor bills

last year...

(read about our miracle linked above)

I scratched my head

and I thought to myself...

how in the world are we ever

going to be able to pay these

???

My mistake was ...

looking at it with worldly eyes

...which did make it seem impossible !

Then I got to thinking...

we have already seen

more than half of these promises 

in this scripture come to pass ...

The Lord did deliver us

in time of trouble.  

The Lord did preserve Steven

and kept HIM alive,

Heart for the Underdog

 A Heart for the Underdog !

Then the scribes (the teachers of the Law) and Pharisees (the religious) brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst,  they said to Him, "Teacher, this woman was caught  in adultery, in the very act.  Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned.  But what do You say?"   This they said, testing Him, that they might have something of which to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with His finger, as though He did not hear.  So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, "He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first."  And again He stooped down and wrote on the ground.  Then those who heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the oldest even to the last. And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.  When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, "Woman, where are those accusers of yours?  Has no one condemned you?" She said, "No one, Lord." And Jesus said to her, "Neither do I condemn you; go and  sin no more."

John 8:3 - 11 (NKJ)

The true character of Jesus shows great love,

mercy and compassion for those who are,

in the opinion of many

the " least likely " to deserve it ...

... the "underdogs" ! 

The accusers were probably pretty sure

that Jesus would see their side of the story

and sentence the quilty woman to punishment,

but when forced to look at theirselves,

they felt deep enough conviction

to turn and walk away...

leaving the adulterous woman

in the hands of Jesus !  

(which is the best place for her)

Before we are so quick to pick up a stone

and point out the shortcomings and sins 

of others in judgement

and slander their name...

Jesus asks us to look at ourselves.

Are we perfect ?

There are truly none among us

who are without sin,

except for Jesus Himself

and He isn't throwing any stones !

For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.  And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?  Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me remove the speck from your eye'; and look, a plank is in your own eye?  Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.

Matthew 7:2-5 (NKJ)

for

"love will cover a multitude of sins."

READ ABOUT OUR MIRACLE

Come now, and let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

I, even I, am He that blots out your transgressions for My own sake, and will not remember your sins.

I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, your transgressions, and, as a cloud, your sins: return unto Me; for I have redeemed you.

Moreover "the law" entered, that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound.

For the law "was" given by Moses, "but" grace and truth "came" by Jesus Christ.

Therefore the law "was" our schoolmaster "to bring us" unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.

There is therefore now no condemnation to them who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Who is a God like unto You? Who pardons iniquity, and passes by the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He retains not His anger forever, because He delights in mercy.

To the praise of the glory of His grace, in which He has made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace; which He has abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; having made known unto us "the mystery" of His will, according to His good pleasure which He has purposed in Himself: That in the "dispensation of the fullness of times" He might gather together in one "all" things "in" Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in Him: in whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of Him who works all things after the counsel of His own will: that we should be to the praise of His glory, who first trusted in Christ.

And all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself "by" Jesus Christ, and has given to us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, that God "was in" Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and has committed unto us the word of reconciliation.


Repent therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.
