I'm fortunate enough to be here in Cyprus for the Orthodox Easter. Today was Good Friday. Anyway, the Greek Orthodox do something pretty cool for Easter. It begins with a very liturgical service. After that, they put the Icon of Christ and put it in a "coffin" that is carried around the city (in Orthodoxy, you have icons with Saints on them. You have to be sanctioned by the church to make an Icon, and in many cases, the Icon is basically worshiped). For the one that we saw, they had the military marching before the coffin, playing very somber music. As the coffin passed, people would walk underneath it while crossing themselves. It was very cool. You can take at pictures of the church and the service below.
