I've lost touch with Love

Some crazy woman stole my mobile.

My lash extension didn't turn out right (hence the photo-no-show)

My heels for work are too high that's making my back hurt.

My nails are cracking and I don't have time to tend to them.

Nice Girls Don't Get the Corner Office: 101 Unconscious Mistakes Women Make That Sabotage Their Careers

Clueless

I'm clueless when it comes to office politics and how to play the corporate game. In a bid to survive (and hopefully climb up) the corporate ladder, I've bought myself a copy of the above book. 2 Chapters afterwards, all I learnt is that in order to get things YOUR way, one just have to ASK (skillfully) for what they think they are entitled to; being successful doesn't equate to being liked, and supposely we girls have the "I want to be liked" imprinted in our genes. Well, it doesn't seem like that hard a concept to grasp, I will see if I can use any of the coaching tips in the book. Maybe I will even write about some experience I have in the future when practising those tips.

It was a special anniversary for me and the boyfriend, we were going to stay at Hotel Windsor only to be told all rooms have been booked out (except for the executive suite), therefore instead of staying at the 1883 hotel, we stayed at The Langham, even though it's a Five Star hotel, nothing came as a surprise since this is already the 2nd time I've stayed with Langham, nontheless the place is a pleasure to stay at (except their towels can do with a little more fabric softener) and it's a shame they didn't have fresh flowers in the room like the photos on their website. The Chuan Spa located in Langham operates between 10.00-20.00, which is (again) a shame since we weren't even back from dinner by 8pm and I'd prefer spa at, say, 10pm for a good soak before cuddling up in bed.

Since we hardly ever take photos together, here's the one and only photo we took together on our Anniversary.

I have nothing particularly intellegent to talk about today. I haven't had anything I want to blog badly for a long time, I wonder what has changed, maybe working life has made me dull. The only thing that excites me is the planning for my monthly getaways, whether it was a weekend away to the country side, or staying at world-class hotels, maybe next month I shall book myself in for a spa treatment at Ella Bache. Whatever it is, that monthly something gets me through the month quicker.

On the other hand, parents have been nagging me to buy an investment property for quite a while now. Considering I've only been working for less than half a year (I'm not even fulltime yet), fair enough I'm not being paid minimum wage hence if staying at home, I'm capable of financing the mortgage, but I just think it's a little too soon to take out a 25-year mortgage committment. Plus, I really don't know what I want in life yet, whether I want to settle down in Melbourne, or going back to Shanghai to try my luck. And the housing market, no doubt it is not the strongest given the subprime crisis in US and its affect on the Australian economy, even though in the long run investing in property definately pays off, but it's the LONG RUN that's the problem, I want something that's more immediate than, accumulate my cash for 10 years before realizing the return.

Decisions Decisions...

It's time to Re-educate myself the art of Eating.

I'm going to keep a food diary, recording everything I eat and the time I eat.

I'm absolutely caked out.

I felt like vomiting when seeing food last night, which is not a good sign.

I've had a long struggle with food. I love good food; I love eating; but I also love to fit easily into my size 6 without sucking in my tummy. So it's time to GET BACK ON TRACK.

I can't be comfortable in my own skin if I FEEL fat (whether I AM fat or not isn't important, a girl can be lean and still FEEL fat)

Alright, time to become HEALTHY again.

 Blissful Weekend in Healesville

What constitues a good weekend? For me, it's a weekend that I can do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, and that's exactly what I did in Healesville this weekend.

About 20 mins drive from Lilydale, I've been to Healesville twice in the past year, so Why did I go back there again? The answer is: Great wood oven pizza, Great Great cellar wine, and the fact that I DON'T NEED TO explore the place anymore. So all Me and The Boyfriend did was staying in our cozy SunRise Cottage, enjoying wine with cheese/crackers/sun dried tomato, spa with essential oils and candles and lots of quality Bonding-Time. We only ventured out once during the windy-cold two-day-weekend, and that was because we were STARVING for their wood oven fired pizza!! and not forgeting to buy a dozen of their famous wine.

Here's the place:

Of course a Big Comfy bed is a must!!

We'd never pick a place if it had no spa!!

The first morning it was too miserable outsid so The Boyfriend decided to cook breakfast for two, we had french toast, sunnie-up eggs, mushroom bacon and rocket leaves with OJ.

I was drooling so bad when brekkie was cooking, cos it looked (and tasted sooooo nice!!)

Healthy isn't it?

Late in the afternoon we ventured out for some late lunch/dinner, I had waygu steak while he had the wood oven pizza, as much as we'd like some dessert afterwards we simply couldn't eat anymore cos both of us was soooo full!!

It's time to do some SERIOUS blogging, not...

What do you do when you're trying to read the legendary lifestory of YSL and the guy sitting next to you on the train is playing some bull-shit trashy rock/metal whatever music LOUDLY on his IPOD?

After a few excruciating moments of distraction, I finally found the solution: plugging in my own POD and start playing Rod Stewart.

Problem solved

This week I've realized something: you know your life is too busy when you can't even squeeze in sometime for a manicure. Since I'm not a big fan of DIY (thanks to my own clumsiness I can never get it right), my nails are farked if they chip/break/whatever midweek, like today, for instance.

So I've told myself: work harder, play harder, and I can splurge on myself (and the boyfriend, and the family, and the cat...) all I want and nobody can say nothing about it.

Other news: I've been quite pleased with my purchase, as firstluv requested, here's some photos:

The photos really don't do it justice, it looks so much better in real life, and it's soooo soft, just the right size for all my essentials and the extra magazine/book. Practical! Just the way I like it.

Anyways, so it's off to a training course on Excel for me tomorrow, haha.. a Friday off work, time for more shopping!!!
