| Thus...I update.... I realized this year that even though as a child the fireworks are awesome, you really come to appreciate the 4th of July more as you age. As the rockets explode in the air, you remember the men and women who have died protecting the freedoms we hold so close. You remember that this is a holiday celebrated for over 200 years. This is what puts America above many other countries. I asked my friend from Australia if they have anything like Independence Day. "Well....we have Australia day...but we don;t really know what its for...I think it has something to do with a certain time since federation or something..." America is truly a special place. No other country has the unique qualities of America. Though we are called the 'melting pot of the world' because we house so many diverse cultures and peoples, one thing remains set in stone, for one day a year we all band together as one in our love for this country and its ideals and cast aside prejudice and hate for one another. Even the people that do nothing but complain about the government and spread tales of consiracy will sit and remember those who died so they could have the right to say what they believe. It's what this country was founded for.
If tomorrow all the things were gone
I'd worked for all my life,
And I had to start again
with just my children and my wife,
I'd thank my lucky stars
to be living here today,
'Cause the flag still stands for freedom
and they can't take that away.

I'm proud to be an American
where at least I know I'm free,
And I won't forget the men who died
who gave that right to me,
And I gladly stand up next to you
and defend her still today,
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God Bless the U.S.A.

From the lakes of Minnesota
to the hills of Tennessee,
Across the plains of Texas
from sea to shining sea.
From Detroit down to Houston
and New York to L.A.,
There's pride in every American heart
and it's time we stand and say:
I'm proud to be an American
where at least I know I'm free,
And I won't forget the men who died
who gave that right to me,
And I gladly stand up next to you
and defend her still today,
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God Bless the U.S.A.
I'm proud to be an American
where at least I know I'm free,
And I won't forget the men who died
who gave that right to me,
And I gladly stand up next to you
and defend her still today,
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God Bless the U.S.A.
