Praise to God for a Loving Hope

"In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade--kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.  In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.  These have come so that your faith--of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire--may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. Though you have not seen Him, you love Him; and even though you do not see Him now, you believe in Him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls."
1 Peter 1:3-9

On this first anniversary of Gabriel's being swallowed up by life (see 2 Cor. 5:4) we are determined as a family to cling to and rejoice in our living hope. We revel in the joy inexpressible of the salvation of our souls.  We refuse to let Satan rob us of our joy.  This morning, just after we had determined and voiced this, on our way out of the driveway to go to church, this precious little kitten pictured above, darted under the car and we ran over him. The horror of it shook us all, as we helplessly watched his death throes.
Nevertheless, hours later, standing in front of Gabriel's grave, we again determined together to:
1) view this life as a precious but temporary gift not to be clung to.
2) hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful (Hebrews 10:23).
3)  consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus our Lord.
4) Rejoice that Gabriel is is heaven with Jesus.
We will be victorious, for Christ has already won the victory and conquered death. Please join with us and let's glory only in the cross.

I can't see Gabriel's face, but I know beyond the shadow of a doubt where he is and Who he's with, and it's only because of the cross of  Jesus.

You've been in my prayers frequently, as this time of year approached.  Reading your testimony once again, yesterday, shook my soul with tears and smiles and blessed me greatly.  Your strength and faith in our Savior's love have spoken so strongly to me.  Your lives have shown me a pictures of God's peace which passes all understanding, and I marvel at the mercy of the King.  I rejoice that I have been able to witness Gabriel's incredible story unfold.  I rejoice for what life is in Christ.  Gabriel is free and truly alive, and we are here on earth, waiting and working for the glory we know will come.  Thank you.  I love you so dearly!

Thank you, (all of you) for being such an incredible example to me of what true faith is.  I have learned so much from you, I have been so blessed by you.  I cannot even begin to express the joy I have in Him, because of the joy of Him I see in you.  I want a life as beautifully wrapped up in Him -the delight of Him, as I have seen in you.

I pray He will comfort you in His great arms now, and that He will sustain you.

I love you so so much.

Jen

And fill my sails

Lord, I am Thine,

And Thou art mine;

I will go on with Thee." -AC

WOW! What a great pic...could be on the cover of a book with your quote nearby. I was so honored to be able to pray for and with you last Sunday. I need to call Renee. I intended on calling her Sunday night to check in. Your comment on my site was well received and gave me a good laugh out loud! Love, Marnie

Amazing love..... how can it be?

How true it all is, " Though you have not seen Him, you love Him......" Even when the unthinkable happens, even when His plan makes no sense, even when pain is the only reality, we love Him. We cannot help it, we know Him and love Him, we cannot doubt Him.
Even when things are awful, and sin and wickedness come in to try and destroy, I feel this inexpressible peace in my heart, that no matter what, He has won.
There is no sorrow, greif, sin, or wrong, that He cannot overcome with Himself, His grace covers it all. Until all the hurt is swept away into something greater, and we recognise it no more, we only see His face.
Thank you for writing that, and sharing your heart, others need to read it. I and my family are learning this lesson right now, and we only find that it is all so true. His love, is greater than all of this.
Amazing love.......
God bless you and your family!
And praise God for His unchanging, unfailing goodness.

a long sigh...a long hug....look you in the face...and hug once more...sit on your couch...pray...enjoy the fragrant aroma of Christ through your lives...listen to the testimony of hope...hope of things eternal...strong encouragement through your faith.

I love you, dear Benavidez family! You oh so know what I am excited about. He hears our hearts; He satisfies our desires with good things, yes? The guarantee is in Psalm 103. It is so fun to think I could sit next to you still again BEFORE ETERNITY worshipping together our God...my heart giggles! YES!

I didn't get to hug on you and Richard before leaving church because both Renee and Linda weren't aware that they could still get chicken pox from me... shot or no shot. The bummer is that Joe Kelley does a home group at Linda's house. If she gets chicken pox (which she's never had), she will be contagious the day before she breaks out with a possible no warning to Joe. Ugh! So, anyways, I left quick and bummed. I toyed with coming to church yesterday anyways and couldn't stand the thought of missing so that's why I slid in after possible mingling. Well, at least Renee didn't kiss on my face like Nunziati always does....big italian side cheek kissing! If Renee gets them, they'll be very light, more likely not on her trunk but limbs, and they will mimc more of a flea or mosquito bite until they break. Then you will think, "Gee, maybe that was chicken pox after all!" Sorry, Benavidez'! I am very sorry. And Renee may want to tell the mom of the child that she watches...bummer!

Thanks, Valerie! Even though today was an Eeyore day, I did have a thankful heart...that's got to be because of His grace covering over me, around me, under me, before and behind me. I am thankful. I should have come sit on your couch tonite...Maybe Eeyore could have road killled Michael in cards...could have been scarey!

Dear Richard, Valerie and family,

Thank you for another beautiful reminder of what life is all about

I am sorry for all the pain you have experienced in these last few years, but thankful that you are letting it be for God's glory and for an inspiration to the rest of us.

We have been crucified with Christ and yet we live but the life we now live we live by faith in the Son of God who loves us and gave himself for us.

Love

Esperanza Vallero

Dog gone it! I love you too! (From where does "dog gone it" come?) I know you're right, Valerie! I can't explain it but this grace thing is way big and releases us totally from performance, phariseeism, and, fleshly bondage. Thanks for the encouragement. I feel so overwhelmed with simple tasks at hand and it is so good to be reminded of His evidenced grace. I can and do choose to rest in that.
Last night I took some kids to sunsplash for night riding and I got totally wierded out. I watched people splash down into the pools at the bottom of the slides and kept thinking, "Are you ready? What if that were your last breath? What if you never come up? What if you are the next to be totally "swallowed up"? Are you ready to stand before Him? " I totally wigged on it. I had to walk inside, get and iced tea, and watch something way more light-hearted: the dancing machine! I watched this guy pour out his heart into level after level. Ooo..sweat flung from his head everytime he shook it..ooo...yuck! Then I thought, "Maybe the swallowing up waters isn't such a bad place to be.

Boo! Now did you get goosebumps? Darn! Do you ever get them?

I'm in too! Don't be surprised at what you get...I still have much unrefined flesh (no surprise), a few tattered Pharisetical robes...of many colors, etc... but I think this risk is worth it! And yes! if I smell something, I will tell you. I promise because we are, of course, community and grace-extending sheep and we have agreed that this is worth it, right? I know, better yet, I will just go straight to the throne and tell "Dad"....hahahaha! I'm kidding. Love does protect and I do have your backside. Got mine?

Hey Valerie ~

It seems wrong to tell you about hispanic cows on a comment under this post. Ask me again when I next see you in person. I'll warn you now, I don't think anyone else thought it as funny as I did. (I'm chuckling now just thinking about it.)
