| It's been quite some time since I've updated here on the old xanga. So, I will only update you on what I have learned about the English language within the past five hours.
Learning #1: I feel like I know what words mean, but then when I look them up, I am either reaffirmed in my knowing what the words mean, or I think about them in a whole new way, or I learn a definition of them that I never knew existed. For instance the word "lovely." My step-aunt who is English once told me that Americans think everything is "nice." British people think things to be lovely. I tend to avoid the word "lovely," perhaps because the root is "love." In Captivating, the Eldredge's say that the desire of women's hearts is to be told that they are "lovely." Lovely - 1. Having beauty that appeals to the emotions as well as to the eye. 2. Eliciting love by moral or ideal worth. If someone who knew these definitions were to tell me that I was lovely, it would surely strike a soft spot.
Learning #2: Something to consider when reading the KJV: The English "ye" and "you" was formal in Old English, while "thee" and "thou" was familiar. Now, the roles have reversed and the present day formal is nearly obsolete.
I'll be home on Friday. It's been so long, I don't know what to do. Mmmm...astronomy.

| Well well...what can I say? This has truly been a summer of much needed reading that I have been unable to do for the past two years. I finally finished the bully biography of my favorite president, none other than Teethadore Roosevelt. Mighty fine indeed. This was preceeded by The Alienist by Caleb Carr, also a winner in my book. T.R. was put on hiatus to read the ever-so-popular The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons and The Heidi Chronicles and Other Stories. I highly recommend them all, especially the latter, which are all plays about independent, intelligent, remarkable women who don't know what the heck to do with their lives. Next is The Angel of Darkness, Carr's sucessor to the above.
Enough of being a book snob, the time has come for Emily and me to develop buns of steel. Peace out friends; I must change into my thong leotard and legwarmers.
| - Your words hit like a train and I can't ignore it. This much anticipated update is dedicated to Ms. Estrella Esquilin, the Xanga Leech.
Well folks, it looks as though my dream has come true. And I'm not talking about fantastical fantasy dreams, but rather the actual bizarre dreams (see below). Apparently, UConn won that basketball game. Of course they did. By attending UConn, I will also be acheiving my life-long goal of living in Connecticut (see thefacebook.com), so it's a double whammy. "It's the whammy y'all, the whammy." (Estrella, remember when we saw them at Spirit Fest with the Kottonmouth Kings? Yeah, me too.) I decided that it would be wise to go visit Storrs, CT since I would be going there and all. So I did. They have this really wonderful nature park and lake there where you can go mountain biking. I love mountain biking.
That my friends, is what happened three weeks ago.
| - I've been having major nostalgia lately and listening to all that I loved in middle school. This update is for you Carrie, because no one should have to comment FIVE times on one entry.
I was accepted to UCONN. I was even accepted into the School of Fine Arts, and I didn't even apply to it! Yay for Parsons I suppose. I have mixed emotions about this. I'm excited, yes, but do I really want to go there? Maybe I should visit and test it out. haha. I'll wait until the big news next week to see what will ever become of my future. A month or so ago I had a dream in which Columbia and UCONN were playing in basketball and I made the decision that I would go to which ever school won the game. I woke up before the game was over, but we all know who would win in real life.
I've been swimming in the deep end of the pool with no floaties and I think I'm about to sink. Hopefully I can hold out for two more weeks. My mysterious joint problems are back and this is NOT good timing. What the heck is wrong with me?
Here's to an all-nighter.

| - I remember when I saw them live and it was really sweet. I saw Copeland that night too. What more could I ask for? - -
Occasionally, my computer makes noises like it's about to take flight. The fan goes nutso and I clench my teeth. This is a potentially bad thing. Please computer, don't crash for five more weeks, but never is better. AHHH! It's doing it again!
