I've to a decision that has been very thought out, and very painful for me to make.

This summer, I will not be marching with the GLASSMEN Drum and Bugle Corps of Toledo, OH. Due to financial issues, and personal health issues of my father, I've decided to take this summer off to get my personal affairs in order. I plan on spending quality time with my father (what little I have left) and not have any regrets.

As we journey hand in hand my friend
To the music that will never end
Filled with hopes and dreams we send
Echoing in Time

All through the tears
We faced our fears
In search of strength and truth
And as we grow, we'll always know
We found it in our youth

As the years go by in history
In each other's heart's we'll always be
We sing now as family
To You...
Glassmen.

-Chadwycke Smith
Glassmen Euphonium 2005, Glassmen in my heart, forever.

It turns out, my shitty supervisor got canned for two no call no shows. Now, THIS GUY gets to work 4 nights a week as a host. ONLY as a host too. Last night I did everything by myself (without trainer supervision at least) and didnt make any serious errors other than when I forgot to include a tip on a credit card bill. So other than that, its all good.

The SCC Youth Wind Ensemble concert with Dr. Andrew Boysen, Jr. went really well. I pictured a really haughty old guy who was one of those "oh you kids" types. As it turns out, he's only 31. He actually sat with a group of us and chatted like he was one of the gang. It was really cool. He got his conducting doctorate from Eastman, so yeah... we sounded good.

Does anyone know of any reputable schools of music around the country who need euphonium players and are handing out free rides? I'm going to need names so I can schedule a college visit.

I still have yet to hear from Perkins or any other place I've applied for that matter. The good news is, I'm gonna actually be getting more hours at Bob's as a host, so my hands won't look like they belong to one of the lepers Christ healed BEFORE they met the Good Shepherd.

You know how I had that OMEA honor band business last weekend? Yeah, I went to the rehearsal on Saturday. Sunday, however, I was too tired, and needed gas so I didnt go. Take that District XII!

Yep. My life is rullll boring.

Its almost as good as... well... other things. I forgot how good and energetic one can feel when caffeine has been purged from their system. Speaking of energetic, that Glassmen drill is something. Get ready for a fantastic visual and aural presentation folks. "Beethoven: Mastery and Madness" is gonna be off the chain. YES! I said the show title. (note: its ok, the BH already divulged the show title in an interview.)

If American hip-hop was as grooving as French hip-hop, this country would be a lot better off musically. Look for artists like EKO.LSA and Original Lyrikal Gunshot. The idea sounds really hokey, I know. However, French rappers have got flow. The backbeats are really unique too. Its all super techno influenced. Think of the Justin Timberlake song that sucks the least, thrown in the flow ability of Twista, and put it in French. There you go.

Speaking of French, there are some people in my French II class who are under the misconception that I am some sort of demigod. No, I was not raised in France. No, I dont listen to the tapes in my sleep. Wrong. Its called giving a crap about pronunciation. I know it sounds cocky/arrogant/whatevawhateva itsmybodyIdowhatIwant. I dont care. Follow the tapes and videos folks, not the teacher. Its that simple. Although, I have several people interested in having me tutor them. In all seriousness, if you're interested, just let me know. I'll do it for a nominal fee, or even nothing at all if you're real nice to me.

Bob Evans still sucks. I applied at Perkin's just for a slap in the face. I hope I get hired there, since I'll never be officially stuck closing (open 24 hours) I'll get decent hours.Yet again, if you work somewhere that is hiring, comment me so I can get a job that pays in good money, not just half off biscuits and gravy.

NOT getting to be with the one you want hurts. just sayin'...

You make plans to hang with some friends and watch the biggest sporting event of the year (save for the Olympics this year) before you go to work. You get to work, to discover that one of the other guys who does your job, and is the reason you get off on sundays early, is fired. What a predicament indeed. Yeah, in case you havent guessed, I had to work last night, during the majority of the super bowl. Luckily, we were realllly dead in the restaurant and pretty much closed up by about 9:30... we close at 10. I was happy.

My third period class (that they wouldnt let me drop which I am still pissed about) is Creative Writing with Ms. Fisher. Its not too bad of a class, its just I get sick of writing and revising the same thing over and over again. They wouldn't let me drop it b/c I signed up for it. Well no duh sherlock! However, I refuse to be stuck in Advanced Foods with a bunch of waterhead retards next quarter who it will be a monumental task to boil water for Mac-N-Cheese. I didnt sign up for it, therefore, I can drop it.

The latest bit of media I recommend for you is the following book, entitled, "Twelve." It's about a little rich boy drug dealer in the poshest part of New York and is a fantastic novel. The even more amazing thing about this well written work is that it's author, was only 18 at the time of publishing. good stuff. check it out. That, and ANYTHING by Chuck Palahniuk.

P.S. I get to learn drill this weekend at the Pontiac Silverdome where the Steelers were practicing all last week for the Super Bowl (and on their turf too)... be jealous.

That's gonna be real nice. I already did 2 others. One was for Advanced Chamber Winds (12 Major scales) and the other was for Jazz Improv ( 2 minutes of a 12 bar blues solo in Bb). I don't have to be at school until 9 tomorrow and Friday. and get to leave at like, 10:30. Meaning. Stay up late, and get up later. Monday, a whole new set of classes and a fresh start begins. My schedule is as follows:

First Period - Francais Deux avec Mme. Hudson
Second Period - Wind Symphony with Mr. Borger
Third Period - dropping two classes so I can do Film Crit. and Service learning (for Aylward down at the jr. high)
Fourth Period - Anatomy with Mr. Toadvine.

If you have any of these with me.. let me know.

If you've never seen the movie "Immortal Beloved" and consider yourself a fan of Beethoven, you suck at life. See it now. It gives a wonderful glimpse into him, his Passion, his Obsession, and his Madness. Also, Mozart's "Requiem Mass" is just about the best piece for chorus and orchestra ever put to pen and paper. Just so you know.

OCD isnt here just yet....

"A mistake is nothing. Lack of passion, is unforgiveable."

"whoa. where does he come up with that statement? 'splain." ok. I will. I've decided that I'm thoroughly tired of the two to three week thing that gets nowhere. I'm tired of going after a girl JUST because she's attractive, has a nice ass,a big rack, or any other superficial/vain reason like that. I'm tired of not having one girl racing through my mind all the time. Unless she can carry a conversation with me, she needs not apply. I want a girl with a mind for literature. A girl who can listen to the music that I listen to and not think I'm just some crazy old guy. A girl who still thinks dick and fart jokes are funny (they are) but can make the Queen of England look like a common skank you see on cops. I'm tired of the outside. This time, I want what's on the inside.

A good friend of mine, we'll call him Duke Lavis... were chatting about our experiences in relationships and how we've dealt with the drive. Duke says, "Its' like girls have a poison, and this poison, it taints you. No matter how hard you try to wash the taint off, it just doesn't come off. Showers don't do it, playing your guitar doesn't do it, going for a walk doesn't do it. Its always there. It'll stay there until she takes her magic brush and scrubs it off of you. It'll be scrubbed off when she decides, not you. Just remember that"

I read in National Geographic that people who claim to be "madly in love" have a similar chemical makeup in their brain as those with OCD.. I wanna be chemically imbalanced too...

Lately, I've been exploring other options of places to work. I've thought about being a cashier at DLM in Springboro, but I've heard some not so good things about hours/wages and things of that nature. I also checked Best Buy and Lids at the Dayton Mall, but they cant get rid of people fast enough who are leftover from the holidays. We'll just see how it all turns out.

The research paper for English is coming along quite nicely. Apparently, I'm the first person my teacher has EVER had write on William Faulkner. This is a great thing for me because if it sucks, he'll have nothing good to compare it to.

Now it looks like I'm a college student, or at least a part time one. I joined a group called the Sinclair Youth Wind Ensemble based on a recommendation by Mr. Aylward. Its actually a credited course at Sinclair. This means that I get to look reaaaalllly good for whatever music schools I apply for in the near future, which I am pretty excited about.

Oh. and I have my for real license now.. my picture looks like I'm about to murder someone.
