In 3 more days I'll be on the campus of ABC...

Well, it has been an intersting summer. I'm sitting at home right now using my "new" macBook laptop. I purchased it about 3 weeks ago, and it arrived 2 weeks ago. So as I go back to school I will have a different computer to use. It is really incredible how the summer is nearly gone, and I'm thankfull to the Lord that I'm alive and well and headed back to ABC for another year of studies and growth.

This summer has been a definete change of pace...things seemed either to be all or nothing. I worked 10-12 hours every weekday doing landscaping. It was fun and a great experience. Something I wouldn't mind doing again...its hard work but so satisfying. After work was very relaxing, and I would come back and relax and rest for the next day of "intense labor". It was a HUGE blessing to be at my home church for an extended period of time, and I loved helping, teaching, and having a part in organizing our Bible School.

I very much loved visiting my friend from Iowa on a few occasions, and getting to meet and become acquainted with her family. Seeing the Gospel Heralds was a blessing of great proportion. Oh, and don't let me forget about going to Utah...that was and enormous opportunity!!! It has opened up the possiblity to go back out for an internship next summer.

It has been raining nearly all day, all week, and all summer...so I've been inside a lot lately, sadly.

Well, that's all I'll write for now, considering I'm sort of in a bummer mood, just tired, with a cold, and realizing its too late to take a nap and still get a decent night's sleep!!!

GOALS FOR THE SUMMER!!!

Well, its been a few weeks since my last update, and I just realized I have no classes tomorrow, so I figured I'd do something at least 10% productive, instead of checking the NBA playoffs scores, or just randomly visit friend's facebook and myspace sites!!!

Well It is crazy to think that there is 1 week of classes left, and then come finals, Bible conference, graduation, Utah, and then a summer spent in Washington, IL for the most part. I've been thinking of some goals I'd like to reach this summer, so I thought maybe I'd share some with you all...

So, Micah's goals for this summer are:

1. Take at least one backpacking trip...which means I'm always open for more than one!!!
2. See the Gospel Heralds in concert 3+ times this summer...Hey, I'm even willing to drive a matter of hours to see them, they are my favorite group...haha...oh, and I plan on camping at nearby campsites, in order to save money and make memories!!!
3. Grow a beard...I really don't know if that is gunna work out completly, my face might not comply, so I may just have to settle for some huge chops for sideburns...haha...or maybe I'll just feel convicted and shave every other day.
4. Bench press my weight 10 times...aka do 10 reps of 125...
5. Memorize Romans 8
6. Share the gospel with my Sister and soon to be husband
7. catch a 5 pound bass, or a 10 pound catfish...oh, and eat it too!!!
8. hug my mom everyday, and tell her I love her!!!
9. visit my grandparents once a week and help out on the farm
10. continue to not drink soda...ever again!!!
11. get a chaco tan and a farmer's tan
12. purchase a good sleeping bag
13. die to self...that is always good
14. play some golf, tennis, and maybe even some croquet!!!
15. Get my high-school"friends" to think on spiritual things...

Well, those are some things I'll be working on, and so yeah, if there is anything  you think I can and should work on, let me know!!!

So my levels of adventurosity (if thats a word)  has been gradually increasing since coming to ABC...it started with camping, hiking, backpacking, and has since grown into rapelling, rock climbing, orienteering, and now whitwater rafting appears to be next on the list. It is so fun to be able to get out and do some o this stuff, the only problem is there is never enough time to do all of it.

So I went rock climbing down in the  New River gorge for the first time this past week, and I have to say I loved it...Dan, Mel, and Stephen and I went, it was a beautiful day, sunny and dry. Dan took some pics while the rest of us climbed, I balayed and climbed and we had a great time!!!I learned how to tie a figure 8 knot, and a figure 8 retrace, an overhand knot, and just some fun climbing techiniques and stuff.

I'm just getting started, and planning out my route.

at one point I asked myself, "Am I gunna be able to make it all the way to the top" I was so tired, and didn't think I could do it!!!

I'm smiling cause I only have another 15 feet or so to go, and then I'll be able to let my body rest..

A good action shot, I'm almost there...

sorry, its sideways, but I MADE IT...and my whole body is shaking from exhaustion...ok not really, but i was tired!!!

Dan and Stephen...Dan had too much fun taking pictures...

Stepehn did an excellent job, he'll be a great climber, he's only a sophmore in HS!!!

Stephen coming right up the crack, I'm balaying, and Mel is backing me up, cause it is my first time balaying...ever, but Stephen survived!!!

Don't fall Stephen, hold on!!!

Dan got hungry while hanging from the wall, so Mel is trying to throw a granola bar up to him, there it is right above her head, the blurry thing...she never got it up there, so she just ate it, but later on I threw one up to him, it is harder than it looks...

Mel is a great climber, she climbed the wall in about 1/4 of the time I did it...

She always warned me when she thought she was gunna fall, but then she never did...

Dan the MAN, doing some lead climbing, and tearing it up, too bad it got dark and we had to head back to school...

someday I'll be able to climb like Dan, ok, probably not...haha!!!

So yeah climbing was great...and then this past weekend and the next 4 weekends I get to go whitewater rafting every weekend. So we went on saturday morning, it was my first time going down the New River is 6 years, so it was about time that I do it. We did 14 miles, and it was a really high river, about 8-9 feet (0 is the average depth for the year). It is so awesome that I get college credit for doing this. I got to guide on some flatwater, and then even got to guide a rapid, Upper Kaymore, so it was a great day. The air temp was in the 60s and the water temp was in the 50s, and it rained all day, yet it was still awesome!!!

Well, that is enought rambling on the adventures of Micah, and I suppose these have actually been true adventures, not just hypothetical ones....

Well, I'm off to bed, Goodnight!!!

The Last Few Weeks...

Well I'm just gunna write about the past few weeks and about everything that has happened...so this is gunna be a book...No, I won't do that, I'll just share some of the things that the last few weeks have contained!

Well, it seems like so long ago, but I watched Illinois play there game in the NCAA tourney (I watched it on TV that is). They blew a 10 point lead with 4 minutes to go, and ended up loosing by two, which pretty much was how their season went, next year isn't looking much different, but I'll still root for the fighting Illini (that is Ill-I-NYE, for those of you who don't know how to pronounce that)...haha.!!! Well I had a fun time of playing basketball in the ABC 3-on-3 Basketball tournement, and sprained my ankle in the process, thankfully it was a mild sprain and only swelled a small amount, and I didn't need crutches or anything like that!!! We did not win, but had a good time of loosing the the eventual champs...all in all it was an excellent time of  burning calories and staying in shape.

Well over the past 2 weekends I've been taking part in my Orienteering class, one of my camping skills classes. Learning how to use a compass, GPS unit, topographical maps, and all of that stuff has been a blast, and I've learned a lot that I can transfer to the trail and my backpacking adventures...I CAN'T WAIT TILL THE BACKPACKING TRIP(S) that I'm gunna take this summer...I'm so stoked!!! Comparing the two weekends is like comparing night and day. The first weekend was cold, temps in the 20s and 30s, and it snowed all of saturday (and most of the time for the class is spent outside), then the second weekend it was sunny and temps in the 60s and 70s!!! Both were fun and I just hope it doesn't get cold and snow again when I'm in my whitewater rafting skill class coming up in the next few weeks...that would be bad!!! I really don't want to die of hypothermia, but I suppose it is better than heat exhaustion!!! Anyway enough about death.

Well nothing major from the past few weeks comes to mine plus it is dinner time, and I'm kind of hungry, so off to dinner I go!!!

Oh just a Praise to share, all of my Utah support has come in, thanks to my grandparents, they paid for the whole mission trip!!! Their reward is in heaven, but I'll make sure to honor them and love them as much as I can when I'm home this summer...mhhmmmm, I wanna go home (Washington, IL), but even more do I long to go home (my heavenly home)!!!!

Chorale Tour = Excellent!!!

Well school is back in session, Spring break is over, meaning Chorale  tour is over as well. I just have to say, what a wonderful spiritual uplifting way to spend a spring break. So much of the tour was a blessing...I really can't think of any single thing that was negative, besides saying that I wish it had been longer. Starting off the songs we sang each night were incredible, and held some amazing truths. Each morning as a group we would go through a passage of Scripture where one of the songs we're singing came from, and just basically dig deeper into the meaning of the songs we were ministering through.

Staying in the homes of familes was an excellent time as well. Each home I spent time in was an encouragment as we would talk about spiritual things, life, and just random funny things. I found I can comfortably sleep anywhere, in a bed, on a cot, on a couch, on the floor, as long as I've got my uber-comfy pillow!!!

We defenetly went to some fun places, like Deleware...ok maybe Deleware wasn't anything special, but we did you bowling in Vermont...twas fun and relaxing. We also went to the Hershey's Chocolate World which was a blast, and that was only made possible by the Lebanon Valley Bible Church in PA, so a huge thanks to them.

We we ended up passing through 10 states (West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Deleware, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, Massachusettes, Connecticut, and New Jersey)...I had never been to DE, NY, VT, MA, CT, or NJ before so that was exciting getting to add those to my list. While in Connecticut we were about only 20 miles from the Atlantic Ocean, but we didn't end up going, it would have been freezing anyway!!!

This Chorale tour was much funner...excuse me...more fun, than last year, not that I'm bashing last year, it's just that maybe the older you get the more fun these things get...wouldn't that be great!!! Well it was my responsibility to help with the packing of our luggage under the bus, and there really is an art to packing all that...blast those girls who brought huge bags...I know who they are...it wasn't a funny joke, but thanks to those girls and guys who crammed and packed military style!!!

So I brought my camera on the trip but I only took 1 picture, it was just stuck at the bottom of my back pack all week, and looking back I wish I would have taken a ton of pics...thankfully many others took photos...
Sarah's xanga

Maybe I'll add more later as I have time and as I want to, but then again maybe I won't...we'll just wait and find out!!! I thank the Lord for His blessings on this past week, and thank the many of you who prayed for us as a group and for the Lord's ministry through us...Thank You!!!
