| Hello, everyone. This is my reading update for the beginning of the summer. The last time I talked about books was a few months ago, and since then I've been reading a bit. I re-read A Clockwork Orange-- such a good idea. I felt like I was reading a Greek tragedy, where I already know the outcome and it's the irony and symbolism I focus on. Pretty cool. I read The Stranger by Albert Camus. It really affected me, mostly because of what Mr. Stirrat explained about Camus' philosophy on life. It's almost exactly how I've always felt about it. It's hard to explain, but I never knew anyone else who felt the same before. I guess sometimes it really is nice not to be alone in principle.
Brave New World was excellent. It's just a brilliant story line and political message. I was supposed to read 1984 for Survey also, but I started reading the Fountainhead a while ago, and I couldn't stop enough to read 1984. Plus, I've become so obsessed with The Fountainhead that I don't think I could read such an intense book as 1984 at the same time. Ayn Rand's philosophies are so different, everyone should read this book. I'm almost done, and I think it's changed my life. It's just so damn long! All worth it.
I read Eugene O'Neill's Mourning Becomes Electra for my research paper. It's so dramatic, unbelieveably dramatic, like a live soap-opera. There was so much to write about for my paper though. Crazy incest, sexual desire, murder, suicide. That type of thing. I will soon read 1984, and all the other Harry Potter books, and anything anyone suggests to me! Because I've discovered something that I enjoy!!! Yay!
Oh, and, I'm a player. |
