RED FLAG FOR ANYONE ELSE?!

| Well, I'm posting this from my fixed computer this time...Everything
went according to plan this time, at least...Though I might be having a
couple of random restarts, but the drive is fine...reloading everything
as I type...After that I'll check my Grandpa's old drive
| | |
| I'm unbelievably pissed off.
I mean, I don't remember being this pissed before, in a Very long time...
First, I try all afternoon to get my grandpa's SATA drive to work on my comp...I finally decide to write it off and RMA it...So I go back to my grandpa's house to reassemble his computer...And now THAT harddrive won't even start spinning up, so that computer won't boot now either...So I take that drive back to see if my computer can do anything with it. I plug it in...It won't boot past IDE detection in the Bios...And you won't believe what happened next. I mean, it doesn't seem possible...THE DEAD HARD DRIVE CORRUPTS MY GOOD DISK! CORRUPTS THE WINDOWS KERNAL! I can't boot. I tried reinstalling windows. It still won't boot. I'm considering running straight linux. But first, I have to get all my files off of my hard drive, and I don't want to risk Cam's comp by plugging it in there, lest the contamination spread...So, I fire up my linux box...And it won't detect the second hard drive, won't mount it, and won't let me run KDE because it says I "don't have a moniter attatched..." Then how did I see the message?!...So I'm formatting my linux drive...(no real loss) and making it win2k...so I can dump files from my other hard drive to it...then reformat my main disk...and THEN install win2k on that one and copy everything back over, and start again..Sounds fun doesn't it? Yeah...Its been a bitch...I'm snapping at people...I just hope I can get this fixed tomarrow...I'm writing this on the laptop...And my grandpa's computer STILL isn't running...And here I was going to offer to let him use my comp while I was getting his up....HAH! Now mine, my precious, precious working box, doesn't even work! It wont' even boot! Hell, I even reset the cmos..Still junk...I'm royally P.O.ed...I'll try to be nice to everyone tomarrow, they probably had a better day than I did. | | |
| yeah...the computer isn't really fixed...I am going to have to
reinstall the OS on the other drive, and its not the PSU that isn't
working...for some reason, the 2k installation won't detect the SATA
drive, even when I make it load the SATA drivers from abit...=(
