    Wild weather we've been having...

The past  couple of days here have been pretty crazy weather wise.  The night before last we had straight line winds and rain, and last night the dreaded tornadoe sirens went off.  Thankfully they went around us, but for a while there I thought we were going to be hit for sure.  The day started off bright, hot and humid.  That all changed at 8 pm, when the sky turned black within minutes.  This was our view:

At first, this is what the sky looked like.  Threatening, but not too bad...

I know it looks like this was taken at midnight, but it wasn't. If you look closely, you can see the outline of the trees.  This was taken about 5 minutes later...unfortunately the camera didn't capture the weird green colour of the sky...

Thankfully, our house suffered only minor damage from the winds.  It took about 30 minutes for this to blow out of here, but once it did, I was able to get a shot of a rainbow...

The clouds rolled back in a little later, but thankfully it only rained a little this time. It made for a pretty nice shot...

Today is beautiful.  The sun is shining, the sky is blue and it's only about 70.  Life is good....

Have a great weekend, my friends.

    Hey my fellow Xangans...

Sorry it's been awhile since my last decent post.  Summer is a busy time for not only the family, but the computers as well.  Let's put it this way...two computers with internet between 5 people (3 of which are teens) means not a lot of time doing anything meaningful on Xanga for me.  Some days I don't even get here, which is a bummer, but hey...it's not like I'm a "Xangalebrity" (that term cracks me up), so I don't think I'm missed all that much.

I hope everyone had an excellent Fourth of July.  We did the usual things people do...spent the day with family then set off some fireworks.  The displays were good this year since we've had so much rain and a lot of the restrictions have been lifted.  Now it's just settling back into life, chauffering the kids to activities, and work.  Yup...my life is exciting

So, yeah...I have nothing more to say. That being the case, here's a video of one of my favourite songs by one of my favourite artists...

Summer vacation is here, and I am going nuts!

Yes, summer vacation is here. The kids are home from school and I've spent most of my time between work and running the kids back and forth to various activities.  If I got paid for all the chauferring (sp?) I'm doing, I'd be sitting pretty right now.  Vacation has only been in force for two weeks, and I'm already going slightly batty from the "mom, can you take me...?" "mom, can we....?" "mom, can I have...?"  Yes, it will be a long summer...

This past week I wasn't around at all because I was trying to get as much work done as possible before going on vacation for a week starting Wednesday.  I work from home, so I don't get vacation pay or anything, so I have to double it up before going away.  It's all good though...I'll gladly trade vacation pay for being able to work in my jammies if I want to .

This weekend we're spending outside, doing yard work and fixing up the backyard a bit.  Things we've put off long enough (that really should have been done last year, to be honest).

So, that's my  update.  Sorry it's not very exciting, but if you wanted excitement, you probably wouldn't be reading my blog, would you ?

For my fellow Dr. Who Fans out there, here is a great clip I found on YouTube, that wasn't played on the Sci-Fi channel...enjoy!

    Losing your thought...

About 3 O'clock in the morning I was awakened by what sounded like a bowling ball being dropped on top of our house. When we went to bed earlier, the stars were out, a nice breeze was blowing, and the weather guy gave our area the "all clear" for severe storms before we went to bed.  He was wrong.  The storm was loud (which I generally love, when I'm awake), winds were howling, and the rain was pouring. My husband and children slept through this, so I had to run around the house closing windows and wiping up water at 3 AM. Our younger cat was extremely freaked out and got under the covers with us and layed on my stomach most of the night, which really wasn't very condusive to sleep...so I started thinking.

I was thinking of really stupid stuff at first...why do my children only want to talk to me when I'm on the computer or the phone...who thought drinking fermented potatoes was a good idea....why do cows lay down to rest and horses stand...?  My mind goes to strange  places.  After a while I started thinking of things I could write for Xanga.  I had all kinds of great topics in my head, one of which I had a whole post planned out in my head about...and then the cat got off my stomach, the storm blew away, and I fell asleep.  When I woke up this morning, all I could remember were bits and pieces of my brilliant post, and even those words were beginning to fade away.  Nuts.

In all honesty, it may have only sounded good in the early morning hours, when my mind was running on half speed, but in actuality, it may have just been crap.  So for now...it remains a mystery.

    Have an awesome weekend, everyone.

  • Sorry I haven't been around...

We've been dealing with a serious illness in our family, and to be quite honest, I haven't got much to say right now as I am a bit overwhelmed.  I'm taking a brief Xanga break, but I will return next week.  I just really don't have anything of value to post right now (not that I ever did, mind you ).  Thanks for reading.

    Looking back...

Kween of the Queens: THE CHALLENGE

    A Look Back

How has your outlook or life changed since you started your blog?   Go back through your entries for the month of May in the year you first started blogging here on Xanga.    You can go back to the very beginning or from just last year.

Are there any significant changes?  What was on your mind  back then?  Tell us about it, WITHOUT reposting the entry.

This entry will be rather short as I've only had this blog since December of '07. Eventhough I haven't had this blog long, during this time a lot has happened in my family.  Since December, we've faced severe illnesses and the death of a family member. Although it's been hard, what has gotten us through has been a lot of love and a sense of humour.  It's amazing what humour will get you through, and that's why it is mostly what this blog is about...looking on the bright side, and even finding humour in the most bleak of circumstances.  In this blog I try not to write about the trials of life very often, as everyone has enough troubles of their own.  Instead, I try to find a reason to laugh at life, and if I can't, I will usually remain silent until I can see the humour in life again.

So, in a nutshell, my outlook on life hasn't changed much in the 6 months I've had this blog.  If anything, I just realize more than ever how important it is to keep a positive outlook and a sense of humour about myself, especially in trying times.  Life is too short to be serious all the time.
