An Update...well I never

Alright, fine. By popular demand I will "update". My life has been sooo busy as of recently that updating hasn't even really entered my mind. That and due to the lack of internet access at camp over the summer. Speaking of which I just created a album of the summer, actually of Camp Briarwood in Wetumpka, AL.

Well I started my internship with Christ Covenant last Tuesday and it has been going good. For the most part it has just been administrative work, but that will soon change once everything gets going. To be honest a year ago I wouldn't have begun to think that I would have been doing an internship here and now I realize how much I needed to do it. Spiritually I am just not where I need to be, which I guess is where I need to be...seeing myself as lost and sinful as I am without Christ. So I can't tell you how excited I am about the up coming year. I am sure that I will have many experiences of feeling ill equipped, weak, and totally useless...the times that seem to inspire the most growth in my life.

The Panthers play tonight against the Dolphins, so I will be watching that game. I honestly think we have a pretty good chance this year to go to the Super Bowl. It will depend on our running backs. I gotta tell you I don't think Deshaun Foster it going to do it for us. I like him and think he's great, but he is just to prone to injury. It will all shake down to Williams and how fast he will be able to transition into the NFL. Keyshawn, even though he doesn't have my most respect, is going to help the team out tremedously. Ohhhh, I'm sorry. Most of you don't even care about football, or what's more what my opinion is. I'll stop then for your sakes.

There is a lone cookie staring at me right now...it is a chocolate chip one. I have tasted of it's fruits before and I can say that they are good, but I know I shouldn't eat it. I have already had 4, but what's one more...ohhhh the struggle between good and evil....I feel like Paul, I know what I should do but don't do it, and I do what I know I shouldn't...this is my life to battle over the intense war of the cookie...alas I shall be strong and surrender not my standards, but my desire for the cookie.

With that I end. I hope you are all doing amazingly well in whatever adventures you face. I pray that you are growing in Christ and you are battling in life just as hard as I am with the cookie. Hopefully these scribbling will not be a waste of you time. God bless.

JEEP + GUYS + MUD = ME AND MY GANG

So I've been thinking about it and our Tri-factor Theory really applies to practically every area in life...1) Effort: action is needed, idleness profits nothing 2) Contact: it's not what you know, but who you know 3) Success: life if properly approach by the former two, will ultimately result in the later...... basically. A Trio Of Volleyball Players

Ok, well yeah it has been a while since my last post, but I've been busy working, going to graduations, digging people out of the mud...what's that you say, digging people out of the mud you say, I think I have heard of things you say...well if you have you don't need to read this, but if you are in the dark still, keep reading and you will be illuminated.

So we had this volleyball get together last Saturday (THIS IS A DISCLAMER: IF YOU WEREN'T INVITED DON'T BLAME US -THE SKIPPERS-, WE CALLED 20 PEOPLE AND TOLD THOSE PEOPLE TO CALL ANYONE THEY COULD THINK OF OR WANTED TO INVITE....IF YOU MUST BLAME SOMEONE, BLAME YOUR OTHER FRIENDS WHO HEARD ABOUT IT...THAT AND IT WAS LAST MINUTE...IF YOU STILL HAVE ISSUES WITH US, JUST COMMENT ON THIS POST AND I'LL GET BACK TO YA) Anyways, we went to our house after playing volleyball and decided to get a movie to watch after we had dinner. Well me and Janna went to Blockbuster while the older boys (Ryan V, Joe T, Sky L, and Josh S) went 4-Wheeling in Josh's Jeep. Janna and I return to the house only to find out that Josh and the boys had gotten stuck in some mud. Well being the great older brother that I am, I got the camera and took some shots.

This is one of the first shots I took…as you can see Josh got himself up to his axles in really smelly mud. After much digging and stick and rock placements we got all the way to here…

Which is no where…meaning the same place we were before…the only thing that is different is, as I’m sure you can tell, that it is a lil darker(actually, since I docotored up the picture, you can't really tell). Well then we just buckled down and dug around the Jeep for about 50 minutes. Then we were like “If is doesn’t work this time, we are giving up and getting it towed”.

We got together offered up a prayer and then Ryan V, Joe T, Sky L, Josh B, and myself started to try to push Josh S out. Well lets just say us guys should have played defensive line in football together, cause we start push and the Jeep is being sucked down by the mud, but we were still moving it. So with a manly group effort scream we gave it all we had and it moved free….we started screaming and yelling till it got stuck again....

Fortunately it wasn’t quite as bad this time, so we just got behind the Jeep and pushed it out. After the long process of getting unstuck, we walked back to our house and then took some hero shots. WARNING: THE FOLLOWING MATERIAL HAS BEEN RATED PNAFA (probably not appropriate for all). IF YOU HAVE ISSUES WITH GUYS NOT HAVING THERE SHIRTS ON, THEN THESE PICTURES AREN’T FORYOU

You may notice that the feet are rather dirty and the chests are rather clean…most of use just took our shirts off for the picture…cause that’s more masculine…AHHHHH!!!!!

While we were doing all this manly man stuff, the girls were…well they were just watching a video….hmmph, girls.

That’s it, that’s what happened that Saturday. To all those who thought that it is rather slow, dull, or boring around the Skipper house, you’d be wrong cause sometimes things actually happen.

P.S. Go to Caleb's page for updates, cause after today I will not have internet access very often. Keep praying, Wed. is going to be his really big day. Thanks y'all.

KEEP PRAYING FOR CALEB!!!

I know that Caleb would tell you if he had the time, but he doesn't. He is really struggling right now with some of the radar stuff, from the sounds of it I would be struggling more then him, but he might get washed back today and if he does then he has to start tech school all over again....PLEASE PRAY FOR HIM RIGHT NOW!!! He needs your prayers these next couple of days more then ever, cause they are giving him a trial run. If he does well he might stay in his current class, if he does like he has been doing then he will be washed back. I know that God is refining him right now and I am sure the Devil is trying to tear him down. Tell anyone who will pray, to pray for Caleb....have I stressed this enough yet. Thanks y'all.

Ok, I know that I am copying from Miss Misty_Mornings, but I really found this interesting...and since I got 92% Dixie on it, I was rather proud of myself. Ohhh, what is it? Well that would be good, for me to explain. The following is a connection to a site where you can take a test to see how southern you truly are. Now I don't know how accurate it is, but since I got a pretty high scoring on the southern side, I'd like to think it was fairly on target. As of right now here is where the Skipper family stands;

Josh 97% Dixie

Micah 92% Dixie

Katie 88% Dixie

Aaron 81% Dixie

Caleb 79% Dixie

Mom 74% Dixie

The rest of my family has not taken it yet, but I will post the results when I get them...I have a feeling we will be pretty southern.

If you are interested click here: http://www.alphadictionary.com/articles/yankeetest.html

Let me know how you scored. That way I can make fun of you if you aren't very southern or congratulation you on being a blessed one. Just joking, but do let me know.

GRADUATES '06!!!

Well graduation ended up happening last Saturday and it was actually quit nice. It was the largest graduation group Western has ever had. About 950 graduated, but only 850 ended up walking. One of the Dean got up and was giving the traditional message to the grads and he read a scripture verse and then said the most important thing that we can have in our lives is God and that without Him, all is for not. He continued to say to work hard and to keep God first in our lives...I was rather impressed. We had some good ole home boys there, so when he was done they got up and started saying "PREACH IT BROTHER" and people started to clap...I was encouraged to see that even as a dean of a secular school, there are still men of faith...strong, bold faith. Well I mainly started this so that I could get some pics up...that is if you don't mind. They say that a picture speaks a thousand words and since I am sure you would rather see a pic then read a thousand of my words, I show the photos.

As you can see, this is the fam...after graduation...we are missing Caleb, truly missing him.

Ahhhh yes, there were a lot grads and lets just say my folks ended up being on the opposite side of the gym. Can you see me?

Some of my Christian grad friends...yeah, I'm the only bald one.

Mr. Barr and I...he is one of my Sport Management classmates(That would be ice in that cup, formally filled with punch...honest)

Western Carolina University Graduates of '06. Don't waste your time trying to find me...cause I can't even find me(ohhhh, now doesn't that sound deep).

Going back to Charlotte when all is said and done...in red.

That is about it. Everything went well, I had a great time up there and now I am back here in Charlotte. If you could pray for me, cause as of after this summer I have no clue what I will be doing. I have some possibilities, but nothing is for sure right now. I just don't want to waste the time I have, so please send some prayers up about that. Also please keep Caleb in your prayers...he is really having a hard time this week, so whenever he comes to your mind, please pray for him. I love all y'all and let me know if I could pray for y'all, about anything.
