From a autobiography on Nate Saint:

he flying business is full of illustrations of this basic principle. God has seen fit to make a vehicle that is expendable essential to progress. There is always a price that must be paid.

uring the last war we were taught that, in order to obtain our objective, we had to be willing to be expendable, and many lives were spent paying the price of our redemption from the bonds of political slavery.

his very afternoon thousands of soldiers are known by their serial numbers as men who are expendable. During the last war we saw big bombers on the assembly line, row after row, powerful, costly implements of war! Yet we all knewe actually knew that many of those bombers would not accomplish even five missions over enemy territory. We also knew that young fellows, many of them volunteers, would ride in those airborne machine-gun turrets, and their life expectancy behind those guns was, with the trigger down, only four minutes. Tremendous expendability!

e know that there is only one answer when our country demands that we share in the price of freedomet when the Lord Jesus asks us to pay the price for world evangelization, we often answer without a word. We cannot go. We say it costs too much.

od Himself laid down the law when He built the universe. He knew when He made it what the price was going to be. And the lamb of God was slain in the counsels of God from before the foundation of the world. If God didn hold back His only Son, but gave Him up to pay the price for our failure and sin, then how can we Christians hold back our liveshe lives He really owns?

he Lord tells us that He that loves his lifee might say that he that is selfish with his lifehall lose it. It inescapable.

issionaries constantly face expendability. And people who do not know the Lord ask why in the world we waste our lives as missionaries. They forget that they too are expending their lives. They forget that when their lives are spent and the bubble has burst they will have nothing of eternal significance to show for the years they have wasted.

ome might say, isn it too great a price to pay? When missionaries consider themselvesheir lives before Godhey consider themselves expendable. And in our personal lives as Christians isn the same thing true? Isn the price small in the light of God infinite love? Those who know the joy of leading a stranger to Christ and those who have gone to tribes who have never heard the gospel, gladly count themselves expendable. And they count it all joy.

?Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abides alone,?the apostle Paul said.  die daily. I beseech you therefore, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.?o:p>

nd Jesus said, here is no man that has left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel, but he shall receive an hundredfold now in this timend in the world to come eternal life.?

Matthew 9:37

he harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.?o:p>

Andrew Murray:

s we seek to find out why, with such millions of Christians, the real army of God that is fighting the hosts of darkness is so small, the only answer isack of heart. The enthusiasm of the kingdom is missing. And that is because there is so little enthusiasm for the King.?o:p>

John Piper:

he zeal of the church for the glory of her King will not rise until pastors and mission leaders and seminary teachers make much more of the King. When the glory of God himself saturates our preaching and teaching and conversations and writings, and when he predominates above our talk of methods and strategies and psychological buzzwords and cultural trends, then the people might begin to feel that he is the central reality of their lives and that the spread of his glory is more important than all their possessions and all their plans.?I>

Paul says in 2nd Corinthians that we are arthen vessels? Why? What if we weren earthen? What if we were beautiful, shiny vessels? Then we would be for display. We are not made for display. We are arthen vessels? Vessels that can be USED. USED for WORK. What work? God work. God is the potter, we are the clay. May we be expendable, earthen vessels for His use.

Matthew 9:37-38

he harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.?o:p>

And may WE be a laborer in His field. May WE be expendable.

SEND US OUT.

Ash, I hate to say this, but quoting a whole friggin book is not what I come to your site for! Just write what you got from it, or the highlights. Sheesh, like mom or something! "I just want to read this little bit." and 2 books later "Just sit down! I'm almost done!" See?
Haha. I am going to go see what other books you've re-written. ;) Love peace and chicken grease.
