It has been suggested that I share a bit of what I have been up to this week. So here goes.

Katherine and the Leggs are sharing me back and forth so that I can see both of them as much as possible. I have also seen some of the wonderful ladies that took note of me and made me feel special when I was a little girl.
Today I am at the Legg's house.

The cherry trees here are beautiful. Their delicate pink blooms quite sooth the soul.
So far this week I have:
~Gone to the park with Mary and friends
    -watched ducks
-flown a kite (OK, I watched. It was fun!)
-got caught in a thunder storm
    -ate nuts and seeds
~Played scatagories with above mentioned friends
~Hung out with various people
~Talked with Katherine
~Talked with Mary
~Talked with James
~Talked with . . .
~Drove on curvy roads! (What fun! I bet I would not fall asleep so much when driving if Houston roads were like this!)
~Tried to keep up with Bible studies, etc.
~Went walking with Katherine
~Made stir fry, broccoli and eggs, and wheat germ balls
~Saw a bit of graphic design work
~And other random things.

Tonight Katherine and I are going to a jewelry party.

Edit:
We did not make it to the jewelry party. Between a small error in the directions and my inability to read the map we ended up miles away from where we should have been and . . . in the Varsity parking lot!
Mr. Legg is wonderful!
Yes, we finally found our way back. And we went to Starbucks for tea instead of the party.

So, that is some of what I have been doing. What are you doing this week?

Well, as usual I don't have anything to say. When I sit down at the computer the things I had planned to put up here either fly from my brain or seem not quite right. But since I see that the last time I posted was the last time I was in Atlanta it seems only fitting that I should update while I am here again.

I get to be with some wonderful people here! And next week I get to return to some other wonderful people! God is so kind to let me know so many terrific people.

Hello and Happy New Year from Atlanta!

Thursday, November 29, 2007

There is so much I need to learn. So many concepts I have missed. So many perspectives that I never bothered to think through thoroughly. I sure want to start growing now. It will take a long time to become what a child of God should be.

I guess God knew what we would need to remember. It's sad how quickly we forget and revert to acting in our flesh. These were timely and pertinent reminders to me. I needed to pray about some attitudes, perspectives, and motives in myself before I could pray effectively for all of us.
I know there are a lot of verses here, but at least look at a few of them.

Romans 12
verses 1-6
Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--His good, pleasing, and perfect will. For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think more highly of yourself than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgement, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given us.
verses 9-12
Love must be sincere. . . . Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. . . . Be . . . faithful in prayer.

Philippians 2:1-4
If you have any encouragement from being united from His love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing our of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.

Philippians 2:12-16
Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed--not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence--continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to His good purpose. Do everything with out complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life--in order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor for nothing.

Colossians 3:12-17
Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Colossians 3:2-6
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. and pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

1 Thessalonians 5:11-26 (here are some excerpts)
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. . . . Live at peace with each other. And I urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone. Make sure no one pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else.
Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
Do not put out the Spirit's fire; . . . May God Himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming or our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful and He will do it.

Hebrews 3:12-13
See to it, brothers that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness.

Hebrews 10:23-25
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

1 Corinthians 16:13-14
Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. Do everything in love.

God, I want to live in love as You tell us over and over again that we should. Please help me to get my focus on You so that You can love through me and teach me to love as You do. Amen.
