Where my girls at?

Cleveland!

After wedding stuff was underway I told my suitemates that I'd love if we could all hang out again before the wedding.  Since CJ is doing her intern year in Cleveland we thought it'd be best for us all to meet up there...plus it's the most central.  Hurrah!

We all got way overdressed for brunch and then shopping.  Our mission was to find gold shoes for my qipao/cheongsam, and luckily we were successful.  We also made some other purchases along the way.

And of course I made us pose like mannequins.

Later that night we went to dinner with some of CJ's friends and then went to downtown Cleveland to go dancing.  CJ distracted me and then all of the sudden there was a feather boa around my neck!  Everyone started squealing and before I knew it, I was at my mini-bachelorette party!

We also included a panda.  =D  Everyone in Cleveland is so nice!  I got lots of high fives and we got into a bunch of places for free since it was my bachelorette.  My outfit included a tiara, a "hottie whistle", a portable shot glass, and jewelry with flashing lights.  For the most part the clubs we went to weren't too crowded, the music was good, and we didn't have to ward off any shady guys.  We also got to be on "place2beseen.com."  Oh yes.  We're happening.

The next day we stopped by CJ's church for a little and then took nenshiya to the airport.  The rest of us went to Edgewater Park for lunch and time to chill before dropping off EJ at her grandparents' place.

Augh!  I can't tell you enough how much I love my suitemates.  This is the first time it's been just the four of us hanging out, and it was nice that we were so comfortable being ourselves because we've been through so much together.  I don't know what it is about college...maybe more specifically a smaller school like WashU...but we can have any combination of WashU people and it always feels like family.  It's pretty amazing.  And even more amazing how God has led us to where we are.  I can't wait to see where we are in a couple years!

Nenshiya commented, "Can you believe you're getting married?"  I sorta can't.  And it hit me right then that not only am I getting married, but I'm marrying someone that we're all friends with.  Like, everyone at WashU knew Wayne and me independently of each other and not as a couple until after college.  I dunno...it's just...unique.  I feel very blessed that we didn't date during college because then I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have had as much opportunity to experience so many great friendships.  God planned things well.

trying really hard not to stress out

One of my friends from work commented that it's amazing how I'm staying sane even though the wedding is less than a month away.  My response: I don't have time to have a breakdown!

As true as that may be, I feel like I need to schedule time for a breakdown if I need it.  Or, a breakdown prevention session, if you will.  Unfortunately I'm short on time and the weather in Boston has been atrocious so it's hard to do anything outside...like, if it's not super hot then it's raining on and off.

Ugh, I can't think anymore, and I should have been sleeping an hour and a half ago.  Please pray for peace!

quotable

During pre-marriage counseling:
Minna: "You have to work with guys, and they get better."
me: "So they 'age like a fine wine'?"
Wayne: "You got the 'FINE' part right!"

After reminiscing about a certain salad bowl game where a friend had trouble with the one-word association part:
AgentCyan: "What's one word that could save a relationship?"
Wayne: "Eternal."
me: "Ring!"
AgentCyan: "Pregnant!"

EJ was directing Corangey on how to get to her grandparents' house in Cleveland:

E: "So after the next street make a right at the Shell station."
me: "You know this area really well!  Didn't you live here for a couple years?"
E: "Yeah, I remember a lot of it.  Unfortunately when we moved I was four and just learning to read so I don't know any street names."
Cuteness!

I think we know at least one couple getting married every weekend this July!  Crazy, huh?

Wayne and I spent 4th of July in Boston- I worked the whole day, we ate leftovers, and then hit up Kimball's with some friends for some ice cream.  Low-key, but very necessary after a long day of work.  We tried Caramel Cashew Chip ice cream...very yummy.

Saturday we drove to NYC for our last pre-marital counseling session.  Afterwards we hung out with agentcyan and snowflakes.  Agentcyan surprised us by taking us to Otto, Mario Batali's pizza and wine bar.  What a catch!  =)  We ended the night with some Asti (sparkling wine) and Eileen's Special Cheesecake.  It's my dad's favorite cheesecake and I wanted Wayne to try it, so we walked all over SoHo looking for it.  We also got our butts kicked by Snowflakes during Speed Scrabble.

Sunday Wayne drove me to the airport and I flew to DC for R&J's wedding.  Since the wedding wasn't until later in the afternoon, I got to be the fifth wheel at lunch...which turned into dessert cuz we stayed in the restaurant to watch the men's finals of Wimbledon on their huge flat screen.

The wedding was very simple, full of country music (what else?), and very personal.  I loved how the pastor shared stories about R&J, and later on there were lots of toasts to celebrate the couple.  Congrats you guys!  Even though I only knew a few people (pictured below) it was a lot of fun.  I loved all the personal touches (including the cowbell serenade at the end.)

This was my first time venturing off to a new city by myself...I think.  I spent the next day shopping at a nearby outlet mall, and I managed to find a Vietnamese restaurant in Virginia for lunch.  I ended up going standby on an earlier flight home so I'd have time to rest before working three days in a row.

Time to go to work, pictures of Cleveland to come.

Look out!

Mudd 21 is in Cleveland!  YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Praise God for much-needed time off...we all somehow had a free weekend so we decided to go to Cleveland in case CJ had to be on call or something.  Pictures to come! (Well, if they're not incriminating.  mua ha!)  Pictures of last weekend to come, too...if I'm not busy working or packing (we found an apartment!)
