Teo hates video games. I'm not kidding. There are many things I can do where he won't even bat an eye that I'm not giving attention to him.
I start to play a game, though...
Let's start with computer games. My computer desk has one of those sliding drawer things for the keyboard. When I sit down to play a game like C&C Red Alert 2 or C&C Renegade, Teo loves to come along, hop in my lap and use his head to push the drawer shut. Or he'll rest his head on my hands to keep me from moving them too much. He'll do this occasionally when I'm doing other things like surfing, but it's mainly during games.
Console games, though, are even more distasteful to him. If I'm sitting up and playing, he does everything in his power to get himself between the controller and my hands or just simply to knock the controller from my hands. If I try to lie down, it's worse.
The other day, I way lying on the couch, playing a game. Teo hopped up on my chest. When I didn't give him enough attention immediately he got right up in my face, blocking out the screen. I laughed, hit pause, and petted him for a bit. When he seemed to relax and lay down again, I resumed playing. Well, this wasn't good enough for him. He started batting at my face and pulling at my lips with his paws until I looked at him and started petting him again.
Teo seems to think that since I have two hands, they both must be used for petting him. Never for recreation.
Giving him food and treats are also acceptable uses for hands.
My apartment's wireless connection has been pure, unadulterated crap lately, so I haven't been able to post anything despite having ideas rattling around in my skull that I'd like to share. Should the Internet be fixed, I will post more. Otherwise, expect brief updates like this from Siri's laptop when I can borrow the time.
Siri decided that Teo needs to be more of an outdoor cat. To that end, she convinced me to buy Teo a harness and a leash. We've had mixed results with this. The first time we took him out on the leash, he just kind of slunk around, eating grass and sniffing around. No big deal.
The second time he went out, Siri took him alone. She said he loved it, rolling in the dirt and exploring.
The third time was yesterday in the late afternoon/early evening. At first, Teo was behaving as he did the first time we took him out, but he kept coming back to the door. Siri said, "Let me open the door and see what he does." Teo bolted inside. He took off down the hall as quickly as he could, straining at the leash. Normally, he'll try to escape from me when we're in the hall. Not this time. This time he went straight for the door to my apartment. When I opened the door, he raced right in. I let go of the leash, and Teo started doing laps inside the apartment until we grabbed him and took the leash and harness off of him. After that, he hopped up on the back of the couch and sulked.
We probably won't be taking him out again any time soon.
I'm just going to throw a bunch of random stuff out there. Good, bad, and ugly. No rhyme or reason. Deal with it. Sunday night I came out of work and found a pizza box sitting on the back window/trunk of my car. It was from a pizza place over a mile away. Scrawled on the box in crayon were the words "GOOD EAT," and the box had a full pizza in it. I don't know if someone thought he was being funny or being nice, but I didn't eat it. The gal I work with whom I gave a ride home to kept daring me to eat a piece, so I told her I'd eat one if she did. Needless to say, none of the pizza was eaten.
I do not like the new FireFox. The buttons are wrong, the history is hard to use (open it in a sidebar, darnit!), and their spellchecker doesn't think think that words like "didn" and "doesn" are words even though they're attached to an apostrophe-t. It'd be more funny than frustrating if it weren't just one more bit of stupidity in a long line of stupid changes with the newest version. IE is no good. FireFox is suddenly bad, but not as bad as IE. It might be time to try out Chrome. If anyone wants to try it first and let me know what you think, I wouldn't mind. Still, my frustrations with FireFox are mounting. Facebook is underwhelming, as well. I know a lot of people who are using it, but it seems more like a stripped-down version of MySpace than anything useful. Have I said this before? I'm pretty sure I have, but I'm struck by just how banal it is every time I visit. This post is getting a lot of traffic lately. I don't know if there are a lot of people searching Google images for "Brain Donors" or if someone's hotlinking my screencaps, but I think I might throw a wrench into the works for a few days just to see what happens. I'll probably change just a letter or two in the HTML code and see if anything changes. What do you folks think? (And by "folks," I mean CZ and KG, who I think are the only people besides Siri who read this on a regular basis.) Is this a good idea? Bad idea? Dumb idea? I'm looking for suggestions here. I need to write more Irrelevant Reviews, but I feel like I should finish up my FCBD stack before I write any other reviews, and the comic on the top of the stack is a doozy. It's everything that I ever thought was wrong with Manga in one neat little package. It's not the worst excuse for a FCBD comic, but it's definitely not a good comic. If I don't finish writing those reviews tomorrow so I can move on, I'm just going to quit on Irrelevant Reviews entirely. I miss the ska and swing revival of the Nineties. With the radio being dominated by generic pop (on both pop and country stations) and generic rock, I miss the random nature that that music brought to the radio.
