Once I'm a bit settled, I will be updating more I suppose, and posting photo's as I brisk through this journey.

Recently, I met up with the Eurasian girls here. Somehow --one from Singapore, one from Australia, and myself from Canada -- we ended up appearing as three sisters, with different accents.

I'm hoping to stay in Australia for a few months, then go somewhere remote. As of now, I should be going to Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi next month for a few days.

Tuesday, July 24, 2007

         temporarilyGONE

If I decide to create a new online presence, I will post it here. Value nature and the earth deeply, because it’s the few innocence we have in the world.

She’s very aware, and talks about it well -- but she is still part of it. Sometimes retreating seems it will ease the desire, but you realize the whole world is following this trend of globalization.

When you think too much about it.. you almost lose your sanity. The fakeness of what is now considered real. The beauty, the smiles, the glam, the aura, the “life” --- it’s just a painted façade that easily depletes after a trickle of rain. But what’s worst is when it’s too late, when you’ve already sold you soul into it’s demon. Can you ever really turn back? And if you run far, will it still haunt you every now and than? The suffering can subside, but it never ends. The hole you dug is much too deep, so you live as being half dead.

No love, but only desire to conquer....a prelude to the end.

-- BUCURESTI, ROMANIA --

<IMG style="BORDER-TOP-WIDTH: 0px; I realize people cannot prevail in certain fields, but what happens when a person fails in the field of life?

Symbols representing the underworld, nice rides, a few residences uptown and downtown, money, and an untouchable smirk makes a real man in my delusional world, but not in real life -- and sadly, all lessons are learnt at cost, usually sacrificing someone‘s pride. With or without “things”…..only one thing matters anyway, love.

It’s nice to dream at times….but not so much for anyone who is aware that dreaming is really a dangerous thing -- it doesn’t get a person anywhere in life.

I always say “one day”….as in one day, I’m actually going to act upon something I feel. That’s sort of like something I recently experienced….a lot of beautiful thoughts, but nothing that actually touched my heart. Some things are pragmatic, some are just illusionary. I mean, I can cut off my lovely hair , but I can’t peel off my smile, or tear off my breasts when I’m poisoned by my own thoughts. The only realistic thing I could do would just be to end it all, in one motion -- but, I just can‘t act upon it.

That saying echo’s in my head, how people visit the doctor when they get hurt, physically…..but rarely does the same occur when a person is hurt, emotionally. The physical pain heals….and the emotions,.. Well..

And the only reason I cease to exist, is because of love. You drive me insane, but at the same time I'm addicted to your closeness.

“If you give it up too easily, there is nothing left to offer.”

Saturday, July 29, 2006

"He fell into a manic depression characterized by suicidal feelings and flights of exileration. In other words, he was in love." - Bruce Benderson, The Romanian

Goodbye conventional ways of "beauty" and hello lets-focus-on-knowledge. I am so uneducated and inexperienced in ways that don't centre on worldliness -- and I want that to change. Anyway, there is plenty to say, but nothing really translates into words these days. Mind you, I'm still immersed in European nostalgia.

Watch my Lisa Ray as Kalyani in a beautiful film about widowed women in India during Gandhi's reign. It's called "Water."

The irony is how women have gained so many rights in recent decades, and yet these rights are invaluable when realizing the image society embraces for a woman.

*Why is it that deprived souls have such wicked desires? Such a beautiful thing is exploited, with innocent victims being emotionally slaughtered by it‘s mishandling. And this is why I have developed into a skeptical person -- are you genuine, or are you trying to manipulate me for your personal benefit? Sometimes, my heart cries for you, because winds of negative influence have put you in such a hopeless, desperate state.

All it is ignorance; fear to think for self, fear to be self. It should be put in bold letters that ego is just a surface word for insecurity. Tragic.

Inspiration does not require a 10 hour-plus flight to a place far and exotique. I used to think so, until I realized solace is only a ten minute bike-ride from mi casa. I love the outdoors, and am very lucky to live in a city filled with beautiful, wilderness-lush trails.

Europe 2006

Home at last. That was one lengthy, phenomenal trip (perhaps the best so far). The excitement was followed by sleep-depriving hours of travel from city-to-city. I figure I’ll be sleeping at odd-times for about a week (jet lag).

It might take me days, weeks, or longer to conjure up my thoughts regarding what I experienced, but as I said above, it was fabulous. I always thought my heart was for Asia, but to be frank I'm more eager to return to Europe. So much class, so much history, so much diversity. I had so much pride in being half "exotique"...but I'm even more proud to be half European. Cheers.

In regards to photos, the worst has occurred. I brought two cameras to capture highlights of my travels, but unfortunately photo’s off the “good” camera aren’t working. Bucharesti, parts of Amsterdam, and a few other spots will go unseen. I’m not worried though, because I know I will go back, soon too. In any event, photo’s can’t even compare to the reality of actually seeing monuments with my own eyes…it’s mind-captivating.

Romania

Real Gypsy children are found abundant among the tourist areas in Sighisoara. Like the child-beggars I encountered in Cambodia, these two kids were no different. Quite clever. Instead of giving them money (as money serves them no benefit) my friend and I bought them food. In Romanian society, there is somewhat a "caste" system, and due to their dark skin and scam-artist stereotype, Gypsies are considered the lowest of the ranks.

*Ironically Enough: The most popular music among youngsters in Romania is Gypsy music, known as manele. It's not surprising, because I, myself, love Manele musica (and will probably play lots of it on here). It sounds like a blend of Middle Eastern (Arabic) and Latin music. And I thought it was only Black men who love booty...you should see the gorgeous girls dancing to Manele (it's similar to Belly dancing -- hips don't lie). We went to many Romanian-style parties where people sang live Manele...great memories.

I did enjoy all countries I visited, but I had most fun in one of the poorest countries in Europe -- Romania. I’ll tell you why; apart from living there for a month, I was quite taken by the hospitality of the people. That’s the main reason why I enjoy travel so much is because the beautiful people I meet. I was welcomed into every home I visited. Romanian culture is very similar to Italia, and like the Italians, Romanians love to feed you until you’re bursting. Not only food, but Romanians, with the little that most family’s have, offer you everything they own. By the time I reached Amsterdam, I had become so accustomed to speaking Romanian. When the Dutch asked me questions, I kept responding in Romanian -- usually saying “Da” instead of “yes.”

When I go back to Romania, I would like to spend more time in Bucharesti, and from there, travel VIA rail across the Balkans and eventually end up in Istanbul, Turkey.

This is a village in Romania -- most people live off their land; a real simple life. The irony is that these residents may not have indoor toilet facilities, yet they drive Audi's, BMW's, Mercedes, and Peugeots. That's Europe for you.

School children walking about in Valcea

We did a lot of driving in Romania, which still traumatizes me. In total we must have spent 30 hours driving from various places. The scary thing about driving are highways with no overpassing lanes. On curves, slopes, and the most dangerous areas, impatient drivers drive onto the opposite lane to pass slower cars -- so many close calls.

Romania is still slightly undeveloped, but things are progressing rapidly. Romania's entrance to the European Union is still pending, but is rumored to join in 2007. Of course, Romania must work hard to boost their standards to European standards to gain entrance. Like China and other former communist countries, the problem in Romania is the huge gap between the rich and poor, also the old and new. Corruption is also another factor. Some places we visited, like the country-side or villages, had toilets in their backyard, whereas at the Black Sea (Marie Neagra) we were staying in a 10-bedroom villa (big difference).

Another fond memory I have of Romania is the food. It's very similar to Italian cuisine. Almost all restaurants are Pizzerias, with beautiful Pasta's, Calzones, and thin-crust Pizza. We ate a LOT of different cheeses, Puina (bread), meats, and my favoritie was the tasty organic vegetables. My mother-in-law was such a good cook and always insisted on feeding me her delicious cabbage rolls and sour soups.

Amsterdam is another lovely city, and the only city I spent traveling on my own. I could easily live there. Notoriously known as the city of legalized marijuana and prostitution to the ignorant, Amsterdam is actually the city of Tulips. I love the liberal environment in Amsterdam. I love how almost everyone owns a bicycle and uses it as their main source of transport. I love how the city is built on canals. I love how everyone is extremely friendly (I do wonder if that's due to the mellow nature of smoking pot??). For anyone considering travel to Amsterdam, I highly recommend my hotels. I stayed dead-centre in the city at two Hotels: Eden and NH Schiller in Rembrandt Square. Anyway, it is quite a shame my photo's of this lively city go unseen.

LONDON, ENGLAND

One week in London is simply not enough to see all of the sites. I'm still not sure which city is bigger, London or Tokyo? Tokyo is apparently the most expensive city in the world, but I actually found London more expensive. In any event, I was very impressed by the city.....I've never seen so much history in such a small vicinity. To think that these buildings and monuments date back to the time of Christ.

The biggest shock was going to certain areas of London where WHITES were the minority. I couldn't believe that my Dad's old neighborhood developed into the slums of East London.

Romania has virtually no ethnic minorities like the West (Asians, Blacks, etc), and therefore, I didn't have my Udon, Pho, or Curries for 1 month. While in Amsterdam and London, I was so happy to eat "ethnic" again. Even Bubble Tea is widely available in London ...(£3.50 pounds for Bubble Tea -- that's just over $7.00 CAD!)

Another question people ask me is: Where's your next trip?

I truly want to go everywhere in the world. People have all sorts of hobbies, my passion and ambition is travel. I'm not sure where I will go next, but I'm quite eager to visit Dubai (the Jewel of the Middle East), Spain, Italia, South Africa, and Russia. South America seems enticing too.

Now that I'm home, I feel more motivated, but again, a bit desolate from my surroundings. What I've realized is that I am not a conventional person -- I don't want to live a conventional lifestyle. I have little in common with conventional people. Nevertheless, I will never abandon my roots. I learn a lot from my old Nan, and I loved an old saying she quoted "How does a man profit if he gains the world and loses his soul?" She told me, "You're a citizen of the world Emma, but if you forget your roots, then you are just a weed." That's the problem in the world...people become successful and forget who they are, they are no longer down-to-earth. And because they have money and power, they feel no need to consider others. The worst feeling in the world is being in a place where you feel unwelcomed. No matter what becomes of me, I never want to be such a cold, selfish person.

Sunday, July 02, 2006

In other words, this is the city where Vlad the Impaler (Dragula) originated. Nobody has biten my neck yet (well, except for my boyfriend), but I am having an amazing time so far. Every night there's a party, trance is always playing (a nation based on my favorite music!) and of course, what is Europe without wine, absinthe, coniac, and vodka? Foarte Bine, as I would say here...everything is very good.Ciao.

June 20th - Eforie Nord (The Black Sea), Romania -- I have spent the last three days at the beach, and my body is terribly burnt from the wicked rays of the sun. I love how Europe is so ill-conservative...in which topless sunbathing and not-wearing-a-bra is more than acceptable. I am become Blacker than the Black Sea. Lerivadere.

June 25 - Just arrived in the most beautiful city to grace my European virginal eyes -- AMSTERDAM. Oh the canals! The freakishly alarming number of "cafes"..the gorgeous women of the pleasure quartres (Red Light District)..and to think I was going to the spend the day sleeping in my hotel. I do miss Romania though..even with it's economic/political differences with the rest of Western Europe. I spent the last month having a true experience of life in Romanesca. I learnt a lot of the language, tasted lovely wine, ate delicious food, met amazing people, and shared a romantic love...of course, there is more to tell when I return. Until then..

Buckingham Palace - July 2nd, 2006

June 29th. As my Father would say, I have come home to the Motherland. I am in the biggest, most expensive, and most fascinating historic city on this earth -- London, England. I have never met my Father's side of the family, but I am staying with my long lost cousins. I have a huge family here. They are absolutely lovely. The city just never ends, but I've been seeing bits and pieces each day by use of the tube(the underground subway). The area, Bethnal Green in East London, where my Father and relations grew up has turned into a third world country, in which it's inhibitants are mainly of Bangladeshi/Pakistani stock. We went to an ancient pub where my Grandpa and his dozen of sibblings used to frequent, and I tried their favoritie dish, an England pie soaked in a delicious eel sauce -- it's called 'Pie Mash.'

July 4th - Back in Amsterdam. World cup fever over the France-Germany match...it was deafeningly loud, impossible to sleep. People keep asking me, "What had been the highlight of your trip so far?" That's a hard question, as I enjoyed various things about each place I visited. Funny enough, I could say my time is Romania was most enjoyable..perhaps because I was extremely infactuated (and still am). Te iubesc.

Some preview flicks from Romania on my bad camera...

Will Be in Europe!

From May 29th and forward...

Romania, UK, Holland...

What percentage of people view the world from a narrow-minded perspective? I would say the majority. However, I know quite a few people who have a good head on their shoulders, but for whatever reason, they can’t seem to leave the crowd (they are followers). There is optimism for all. Like my girlfriend Yumi told me, “I spent half of my life without thinking for myself.” She’s a 34-year-old, University-educated Korean girl, who spent 15 years in a one-sided relationship. It wasn’t only her dead-end relationship, it was pressure from her family to be someone, someone who wasn’t herself. Finally, she is living for herself, but of course, it wasn’t easy. It never is. Because she did not obtain a University-degree and is unmarried, her family looks down upon her. As she told me, “They are very narrow-minded. I cannot date, or have my own ideas without being told I am ‘bad’” Her family is based upon “face” ..in which their prime concern is their prestigious image, not their daughters emotional state.

And how….when we meet our soul mate…how do we tell them? Both of us felt a loss of hope. There will always be that barrier….those hidden thoughts that cannot be expressed. She started to cry, and though my pride was no better, I felt for her terribly. I consoled her. I’ve always believed that love is stronger than pride. If that love is no different than the love of my Mother, then NOTHING, not even our burdens, can break it. Though I am reluctant to express myself to others, I have hope, and I tried to make her believe too.

There is no such thing as love if it is not unconditional. One day, she will be with someone, who loves everything about her (even the flaws). As her friend, I accept her unconditionally. After all, I don’t want friends who make me believe they live flawless lives…..the most inspiring people I’ve ever known or read about are ones who experienced pain. As the Buddhist saying goes, depression is also a good thing (it allows us to learn). I still get depressed sporadically, but I try to view it as a gift…it allows me to see the world from a unique view. It’s incidents like these that make me feel stupid about how I exhibit such an ego for myself, cause my life is far from perfection. It makes me feel stupid when I spend $1,200 on a Louis Vuitton bag (as I said before, the psychology of material has no logic), because oddly enough, the people I know with the nicest cars and most designer attire, are the ones who lack an open-mind.

Tiesto in Vancouver

Amazing show.....but I was, in the most elegant way, extremely FUCKED..

Cunning and wicked by nature. The ones without souls. Little hope and limited ambition. They are not independent, nor insightful, but rather part of a non-obvious, slavery-like regime. How do I relate? I don’t at all. Luckily, one of them is like me, and became my friend. We console each other in an environment that makes us feel secluded. After our goals are met, we plan to abandon. Our ambition is no different than a refugee who’s fleeing a totalitarian regime -- though, we haven’t suffered to that extreme. Over tea, spicy Korean food, and rich pastries, we devise plans for our escape. I hope we make it.

Just act upon your ideal…and you will find yourself. How much longer can we waste time thinking about doing something, when we could be doing it now? Pack up and leave. I bought a ticket to Europe. I am going with the flow, without expectation…in hopes that my mind will be further enhanced, and my heart will feel content. Maybe I will be with you, maybe I won’t. But we can’t wait any longer….just go.

If our paths crossed, I would consider us. I’m here, you’re there…meet me in the middle.

I value the wisdom from my elders

Life is full of irony. Without a doubt, it is a man’s world we live in, and yet women, passively and perhaps unconsciously, hold all of the power. The power lies right between our thighs. The weakness of all men, a woman’s source of manipulation. Don't give it up too easily.

Camesto and I - @ Armin Van Buuren

It’s weird to be so sought after, and yet feel utterly lonely at the same time. Options are all around, but I have no desire. There’s just something about me that keeps a thick barrier between myself and others. I’m too introverted and perhaps selfish, because I don’t want anyone. I like how Le Ly said it in her book When Heaven and Earth Change Places, “I had many affairs, but nobody touched my heart.”

One can be rich, but have no class. He wonders why I'm not bedazzled by his luxurous lifestyle. And it’s funny how people assume class is defined by wealth…

The psychology of materialism gets to me and though it’s common in reality, in theory lacks logic. Like a mad-man gives up his gun and decides to stop killing people. When will I give up my Prada and say goodbye to my ego?

A world that is in constant motion. I can’t expect time to stand still, nor for love to last forever . I can’t promise you anything. And I heard a saying in a film called Saving Face, “Young people. They love you today, but tomorrow? Who knows.” That uncertainty, I refuse.
