Ralph Waldo Emerson says “There are three wants which never can be satisfied: that of the rich, who wants something more; that of the sick, who wants something different; and that of the traveler, who says, ''Anywhere but here.''
And I have added a fourth. – That of a parent who constantly wants their kids to slow down so that we may catch our breath.
2007 has been a great year for our family. Not to say it has been without trial and tribulations, but we have come through the other side wiser, greyer and with a few more aches and pains to show that we live and love life.
I continue my daily trudge to the happiest place on earth where I serve a giant mouse. I believe this is my 10th year as a freelance video something or other.. Not sure what my title is. Deanne and I have also started pursuing the photography business a little harder. A wedding here and there, family portraits… check out the website when you get a chance. www.impactmedia-services.com.
Deanne continues to work for the dentist office. Working the front desk and assisting chair-side now and again. When she isn’t doing that, as if that wasn’t enough, she helps me with the photography, schleps kids around, cooks, cleans… over worked under paid.
Tyler 19 - graduated this past year from high school spent two months in the Dominican Republic with a missions organization, has traveled the west coast of the U.S. from top to bottom and is still trying to find where he fits in this huge place called life.
Mariah 15 – A sophomore in high school, is now an official permitted driver. (and I thought I had a lot of grey hair before) She loves life, and life loves her. She is one of those people you meet that always has a smile and if you didn’t have one before you met her.. you will after.
Tiphani – almost 13 – Our youngest and soon to be teen! An A honor role student, gymnast, skateboarder, all around great person. She studies hard, and plays harder.
This past year has taught me a lot about life, and what it means to be family. It has taught me more about the Love of Christ and no matter how bad I mess up Christ Love is unconditional. Families love, they fight, they argue, they mess up and do stupid things.. but at the end of the day we are family, a bond that cant be broken.
I hope that as each of you walk the paths in 2008 that you take time for each other, you take time for your neighbors and you look out for those that can’t take care of themselves.
God Bless
