| | Looking in as an OutsiderThe first movie I ever watched in Canada is E.T.
I was a tourist back then, visiting my relatives who immigrated.
The movie made a deep impression on my young little heart.
I forgot if I have this habit before E.T.
or I got the idea from the movie...
but I love to look at regular ordinary things
from the perspective of an Alien (E.T.)...
from someone who has never experienced it before
and see how odd actually a lot of things are.
(I still do)
I enjoy having this perspective
and it gave me a lot of insights in many things.
Looking back, probably this perspective also resonates
with my own sense of being alienated and the odd one out.
Like E.T. with his stubby legs, I was just a lump of
non-active goo. A fat kid who sucks at sports.
Too bad I don't have his psychic abilities,
but I am equally curious about a lot of things
sticking my head out checking things out.
So you see, when everyone is supposed to identify with the human kid,
I identified myself with this odd looking alien boy (gender unknown).
