As you all party and have gatherings big or small, also remember to make the earth happier... by, yes... recycling!
Here's an summary of an article in the Georgia Straight, Dec. 19, 2005, p.46:
The 12 days of Christmas
Day One: when you see the recycling symbol and it has the numbers 1, 2,4,5 yes, it can be recylced. Plastic milk jugs and salad dressing bottles are OK. Deli containters wiht #6, is not.
Day Two: include pizza boxes. bur remove the topings, waxed paper, sauces etc... but in yellow bag
Day Three: Aluminum foil: including pie plates or the take out food containers, in blue box.
Day Four: put in all paper! like wrappings! but no tissues (eww) nor foil paper! = ) and window envelopes too!
Day Five: Return empty beverage containers for money ~
Day Six: okay to leave labels on containers.
Day Seven: Old electronics are rapidly changing, so call Recycling Council of BC Hotline at 604-732-8253.
Day Eight: buy rechargable batteries. It really pays off the end.
Day Nine: old appliances at the recycle depot near you! visit vancouver.ca/garbage.
Day Ten: Collapse or cut cardboard
Day Eleven: Give seconds a second life. Donate reusable clothing, toys and articles to charity or 2nd hand or consignment store

Send trees (if you've got a real good smelling tree for christmas) back to nature! on Jan 7 and 8, 2006 at kerrisdale ice rink parking lot, kits beach pearkin lot and sunset beach upper parkin lot and trout lake community centre parkin lot!
