"a lesson in the figurative"

they are formless, innocent, and harmless 

jutted deeply in my dreams she is

always coming in the right way at the wrong time 

never seeing how she looks from my side

but it's all a portrait 

a self-portrait made especially for you

it looks perfect from my swimming mind 

from this fragile ocean view

they are souveneirs; a signpost for my milestones 

a silhouette I one day will regret 

they arrive without notice or a care 

they spark the passion in a mundane life 

though for some odd reason 

i always am reminded of that one 

she is more than just dumb knowledge

more than light in utter darkness

she becomes a near-everything 

a perfect that could happen perfectly if not for imperfections

but alas, I know the perfect  

is excluding me from you 

Pt. 2. 

You say you hear me chewing on my words 

well I hope you hear my laughter as I watch you drown 

falling in a crag of enraged denial and manipulation

yeah I can still remember the memories 

all the times when we were completely different people 

we were actors, yes, quite convincing, but still liars 

and the ocean still looks beautiful without you 

you're pretty dear, and you can act like you care 

you can put on a smile that no one compares to  

and I see that beauty every time you spread a lie 

yeah you look so pretty when you're trying to ruin my life 

yes tell yourself you're a 10 in every way

so perfectly poised just like everyone else. 

to sum the first in another's words:  "You don't, you don't, you don't, see me"

to sum the second in short:  "You're really not that special at all"
