Educate me.

I have been chosen to be on a panel next Tuesday in class, where I have to argue my case FOR the Patriot Act. 

How would a person who is defending the Patriot Act respond to the following arguments?:

- the Patriot Act is a threat to free speech, violating the First Amendment.  This means that the FBI is allowed to launch investigations of American citizens in for exercising their freedom of speech
- the Patriot Act violates the Fourth Amendment, which says the government cannot conduct a search without obtaining a warrant and showing probable cause to believe that the person has committed or will commit a crime.  This means that the government can enter a house, apartment or office with a search warrant when the occupants are away, search through their property, take photos, and in sometimes even seize property, and not tell the occupants until later.
- The Patriot Act gives the attorney general unprecedented new power to determine the fate of immigrants.  The attorney general can order detention based on a certification that he or she has "reasonable grounds to believe" a non-citizen endangers national security.  Also, if the foreigner does not have a country that will accept them, they can be detained indefinitely without trial.

If you know me, you know I am dreading this (i.e. speaking in front of class, arguing in front of class, and speaking/arguing about a subject that I sadly don't know enough about).  I'm starting my research now, but if anyone has any advice as to how to defend my argument, I would gladly take it.

i've been so tired lately that today on the T a girl had to wake me up to tell me that it was the last stop.  i was the only person left on the train. 

i need some more sleep.

other than that, there's nothing i could [rightfully] complain about.  life is... alright.
