| more updatedness on the design blog.
i went to see TDK at midnight on the imax, and it was neat. i'd recommend seeing it in the imax format if you have the chance. the first scene makes you feel like you're going to fall twenty stories. try replicating that in your home theater when the blueray DVD comes out.
mostly i just loved the joker. heath ledger's performance reminds me a lot of johnny depp's performance in pirates of the caribbean. you really could sit there and just watch him eat cereal and be enthralled. though magic trick pencils and sliding down mountains of money were fairly enthralling, too.
i'm going to ohio today. which is neat.
i made a bookshelf. it's not done yet, but when it is, it's going to be nice. i'm already really happy with it. i'll have to take pictures of my apartment sometime. it's getting there. there being a place a female could live in comfortably.
i've been making quesadillas a lot lately. they're really good.
the big poster i'm printing off is almost done. which is also good. so i guess that's it. have a lovely weekend. drive safe, play safe, work safe, be safe.

| evan geary visited me this weekend. he is a good friend, and i was so thankful he was able to make it to my place during his great southern road trip. we ate and walked around charlotte and drank coffee and watched a movie and stayed up waaay later than my 8-4 body is used to. i was a wreck the next day, emotionally and physically. it's tough, cause i'm used to being here now, the dynamic i have with acquaintances and people-who-will-probably-be-friends-soon. but then along comes someone who knows you, who gets you, and is in a similar place in life... it was so sweet as it happened, but so hard the next day when you realize "oh crap, my whole life has changed/is in the process of changing." it better be for the better, or i'm going to be a pissy old man one day.
PS. evan and i are super-psyched on getting married. it's the rest of the change we're not so psyched on, like have and losing tight male friends and close christian community.
oh, what's this?
hey, if you've got some money you want to throw away, you know, because money is so late 20th century, you should buy one of these and send it to me. this one's my favorite, and this one is brilliant. who knows why, who knows why? no fair looking at the url and wikipeding the last five hundred years of art history. that's cheating.

| a selection of haikus composed on a 9 hour drive from west farmington, ohio to charlotte, north carolina
amish youths walk by blue shirts with open collars, smoking cigarettes
the motorcyclist slowly waves his left hand - his wife leans in close
he eyes his mirrors - i must be drifting too close on this country road
two hundred twenty miles on interstate seventy seven - two hundred fifty five left
the sandwich you made filled my head and warmed my toes - that was three hours ago
xenophobia - not trusting others is what keeps a nation strong
i have developed a small obsession with the amish. i told kari that if she ever died unexpectedly i would quit my job and become amish. which was maybe not the most romantic statement i've ever made.
happy belated fourth!
