Ferocious Encounter

Today on my lunch break I took a walk through some desertlands near the building on post.  I came within a few feet of something that looked like this Ocelot.

It almost killed me, but then it decided to not and runded away.

I almost ran, but I was brave.  I just acted like I was an Iguanodon (thumbs up).

Am I back?

It's hard to say...  let me flip a coin...

Jess and I moved back from Florida to Arizona.  I'm in a similar job situation that I was when I started with xanga:  but more chilled and higher-paying.  I feel kinda strange posting, to be honest.  I haven't done this since the big winter trip to Texas for YfC.  That seems forever-ago-ish.

Well, we'll just have to wait and see if I keep blogging on here.  I'm not sure if I'm allowed to work on this at work...  it might be considered an abomination agenst the government.  I better research so I don't loose such an enabling job.  I've been working on all kinds of goods so far.

Anyway...  yes.  It's good to have me back.

In Tekas

Well, we've been in Dallas TX for a few days.... almost a week now.  We head back to Florida tomorrow.

It's been quite a time, up here for a Youth for Christ conference.  I think I'm understanding a new level of suffering for Christ.  On Monday, after the time to leave, I was laying in bed with a fever.  With a rag on my head, I made it up to the hotel room in Orlando the night before the plane left.

We had 4 hours before the taxi to the airport would leave; then came the coughing.  I had some of the most awful hacking and seal noises going on for the next 3 hours.  I couldn't stop, with every cough swelling my face and pressing my fever into a sharper pain.

After my hour of sleep, we crawled out of bed and had some hours of trying to rest in very uncomfortable places...   Because my head was so stuffed, the pressure from the plane made my ears feel like they were bleeding.  Tonight I still have something wrong with my right ear.

I had decided not to go on the trip because I knew I'd be trying to feel good in a hotel room for a few days, with fear of a hospital visit in Dallas in the future, but after I called it off I got a call from the YfC board.  I guess the rest of the staff felt like they couldn't leave without me and would do anything they could to get my sick butt in Texas; not to mention the over $2k of nonrefundable loss already paid to send me and Jess.

So I brought and spread some sickness with me, but through it all, God honored the trip, even in spite of me dragging my feet.  It's hard to look past a fever that lasts for 3 days, but on the other side, sometimes there's the greatest blessing in years.

It's hard to say exactly what God's done...  I'm pretty excited about YfC, not because it's a organization and a title that links me to some support, but because it's really an opportunity worth being excited about.  I have some fresh ideas of reaching kids through short speaking and then playing a song I wrote on the same topic to really grab kids attention.  Jess herself wants to have a job where she can make a difference; it's really a great passion of hers to reach lives.  I'm excited to see how that goes as we return home to the house that's probably hours from being moved into :D  Maybe Jess will wanna join the YfC staff and we can do ministry together...

As far as music goes, I'm hoping to write songs in the near future that incorporate more hip-hop.  Of today's youth, over 60% listen to hip-hop and less than 30% listen to rock.  I'll always be anxious to write melodies, but if the world won't hear my message in song through them alone, who knows, maybe I can "spit" a little.

Well, I wanted to have the next post be one of house-ual completion, but I guess not.  Our house should be done this weekend, with us set to move in when we get back from a job-related YfC conference in Dallas...  which will have us out of town from next Monday to the following Sunday.

Sound of Silence (our new band name) had our 2nd practice with all musicians there lastnight, however, I have a sore throught and can't sing without loosing my voice...  and with Wednesday so close and a church of worship-wanters, I need to save that.  Whatever. lame.  It was still alot of fun though.  I've never "had" a band with such decent characters in it.

Jess and I do a monthly "Big-date" so we can have an exciting time lovin on eachother every month.  Jan was the month to go see John Mayer, and i think we had lots of fun.  That dude has some cool guitar-dancing skills and a pretty fun personality.  I always though of John Mayer as a inverted wierdo for some reason.  Orlando Magic Stadium was just about packed.  That dude must be loaded.  I need to start writing good songs...

Straining to Update

It's hard to write stuff as fast as it happens.

Well, Jess and I celebrated our first year of marriage this past weekend.  We went to Ft.Myers and watched a Broadway Palm production of My Fair Lady.  We also did lots of shopping and ended up at the Museum/Planetarium.

House news:

The outside got painted today

We're trying to decide if we like it, but it's kinda hard to tell in the dark.

Story time:
While working on the house in early December, we had a new front door and a ceiling fan in the back of my truck.  I set the fan out on the side of my truck to get to the door which was under the fan.  After messing around with the door, we left to gather something else and food or stuff.  It was dark and didn't know what I was doing, but I felt a big bump while backing out and thought nothing of it because the florida terrain in our yard was wild at best.

Upon returning we found this with a fan in it's midst:
miraclefan

To our amazement...   not a single thing was broken inside.  The fan blades were'nt scratched.  The motor was in one piece.  The 2 glass bolws that filter the light weren't cracked.  The little cardstock boxes that hold the tiny lightbulbs were twisted and crushed, but the bulbs inside were flawless.  Just amazing.

Next post will probably be a finished house pic collection.  See you then.
