My "look alikes"

heyz, how are you guys??

Well its the start of college for most of my dear friends...and i wish them all the best, and make the final semesters in college fun and memorable! Although at times, most of ya think HELP is a horrible institution and god-forsaken place of messy schedules and often or not irritating/boring/indifferent lecturers, I think you should just focus on getting the cert and make new friends, or even create closer bonds. I'll miss you guys...it feels awkward not entering college today morning, and not finding my lecture hall, or meeting my friends whenever we get the same subject. Anyways, something to brighten up your day...*well, it did mine*
Last night my friend sent me this link...of some face morph website. so, i checked it out...guess what?! I actually tried the thing and this is the result of my "nothing else better to do" moment. XD don't laugh.

the final straw that broke the rockstar's back...

What is it with young aspiring rock stars and committing suicide?

First with Elvis Presley, then Ian Curtis (Joy Division) and of course Kurt Cobian (Nirvana). There are of course more than a handful of famous artists who took their own life at a very young age. As tragic as it sounds, there is always an interesting elegiac story behind it all. Filled with lament, depression, melancholic thoughts of facing life.

All these problems from astounding geniuses of their time and art form. Why do these incredibly creative writers and musicians end up with suicide as their last resort? Some of the rock stars have legacies and talent or fame, what else was missing? Somehow, this really fascinated me and I did a little research on the matter.

When we hear that a rock star has died, the first thing that comes to mind is obviously, drug overdose. Because unlawful drugs are so prevalent in the world of rock and roll, it is a reasonable assumption. We think of greats like Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, John Bonham and Jim Morrison, just to name a few.

We by and large consider rock stars, like many celebrities "have it all." They have an entertaining job that includes plenty of traveling time, meet a lot of interesting people, having been adored and worshiped. It’s like they say, they become “demi-gods”. But such is not the case in the world of rock and roll. Like many highly creative, artistic people, they often suffer from depression; which is the major reason they consume the drugs and alcohol; to alleviate their inner demons. And they have career worries; particularly when they're at the top. They need to persist to strive to stay there. And there are always younger stars eager to take their place.

They may be able to get all the partners they want, but nearly everyone seek the same thing we all seek, love and affection. And sometimes they get their hearts broken, torn, trampled on. And, like the rest of us, they hurt. They may seem untouchable, but they are human. And they bleed red, just like the rest of us. Maybe even deeper and harder than normal. Their senses are so heightened towards emotions and poetic visualization that they are probably the most sensitive sort of person.

So, my question is…Do all poets and great artists suffer despair or desolation through doing what they love best – writing and playing music? It seems that way.

It got me thinking; if someone is so in tune with their sensations and darker sentiments does that make them more susceptible to pain? Is that their demise for having such a brilliant gift?

Like the story of the one who locked himself in his bedroom and shot himself in the head, or another who just before a massive breakthrough tour in USA hung himself in his own kitchen at 23, and one who took a handful of pills to end his wretchedness once and for all.

Of all these deaths and heartbreaking scenes of once conjured happiness, I believe one thing they all lacked was hope, and a faith in a God, who loves them. We all need a little faith in life to get through our days…or else what’s the point of living?

Being a rock star is a crash-and-burn sort of existence. So…are we going to crash or burn? Burn, I think burn for merely one raison d'être…for a God who continues to show us His love.

So this is permanence, love's shattered pride.
What once was innocence, turned on its side?
A cloud hangs over me, marks every move,
Deep in the memory, of what once was love.

Oh how I realized how I wanted time,
Put into perspective, tried so hard to find,
Just for one moment, thought I'd found my way.
Destiny unfolded, I watched it slip away

-Twenty Four Hours by Joy Division-

Written by Ian Curtis

In remembrance of those who wrote with pen and blood,

For those who gave their being to their art,

For those who gave us ART.

This is my fav Joy Division song, "Love will tear us apart" - the irony of the title itself.

lovin' her break // her kiss, her smile...her perfume

I realize that enjoy long wholesome thoughtful conversations…actually, I basically love talking to someone I find interesting and with substance.*thus, missing a few college friends and my specific close buddies* When I start talking, I will usually never stop until I lose words to add on the subject. XD - i am a chatty person *when i want to be*

btw, My holidays have been really good! I enjoyed the shopping, movie watching, chatting, ‘makaning’, games, BBQs, birthday parties, family dinners, outings, group meetings and everything else that comes with having a good vacation.

Just yesterday I was laughing my butt off with a little (very intense) game of “Taboo”. Awesome game btw…if you are competitive and like to have a great adrenaline high (I recommend it) I also enjoy coming up with words and describing different things, it’s amusing! These little things make my day…really. Laughter is the best medicine!

Today, more laughter followed…with a cozy lunch with a dear friend, and later at night, a “wild” night with two fav gals of mine. We just chatted and laughed so hard, I can’t remember the last time I had that much fun during a dinner! (Girls do know how to have fun! *wink*) – Ate two large pizzas, and lots of dessert (chocolate mousse, and marzipans with peaches accompanied with English teas)…delightful filling meal. I love restaurant hopping with my beautiful comrades…

Especially if we all love food and don’t mind the extra pounds *kilos* put on…hehe.

Holidays have been in my view, productive…I am not complaining anytime soon.

Intoxicated by Chanel no. 5

Okie…before I mislead you guys, I don’t have the fragrance above. Maybe cause it’s too expensive and too “matured” for me to have in my possession. Anyways, this post is about this perfume in particular. No…I never had a previous love for Chanel’s products, even though I admit it looks exceptionally posh and sophisticated. A very evergreen and luxuriant perfume, which I’m sure my mother keeps in a little cupboard for a special occasion.

I just watched an amazing advertisement for this specific perfume. My friend suggested I saw it when I commented that I adore Nicole Kidman’s acting and gorgeousness. So, I watched it on youtube (no. source for all things in video) and was blown away…this wasn’t like any run of the mill advertisement with cheesy lines and near hideous effects, or even awful actors. This ad was one word: Spectacular! You must be wondering why all this for an ad? It’s only a couple of seconds…well; this one is around 3 minutes long! The expenditure for making it was as much as 102 Million Dollars! (Till now, the most expensive advert ever made) Nicole was given 12 million dollars to be in the ad (or should I say – short film)!

-          btw, it was directed by Baz Luhrmann…*astounding director* also created the visually stunning Moulin Rouge! (Note: you can sense the similarities to the film)

Watch it; I love the lush screen shots, lighting, elaborate sets and of course the wonderful creations by Karl Lagerfeld, his dresses and designs were magnificent. It captured so much emotion in just a few moments. watch it n you would wanna buy this perfume for urself!

Peace,
Adeline... :)

A Hopeless Romantic at heart...

I’ve been on a full on romantic drama marathon of late…seriously.

I don’t know what has gotten into me, but I out of the blue fill the need of satisfying the romantic within. Somehow all the romance just makes me all tingly and warm/fuzzy inside… XD I know it sounds silly. But trust me; I don’t know about guys but girls love a good old romantic drama or comedy once in a while. (Chick flicks you might call it)

Having a good romantic scene can be a savior to almost any dreadful movie and having a bad scene can be the demise of an otherwise good movie. They have an amazing ability to get the spectators to really relate and become emotionally attached to the characters while uplifting spirits and giving hope about life. Or maybe that’s just an excuse to see semi-shirtless men and a soppy love story. Well…let’s just see.

Anywho, some romantic dramas I have been watching lately would be, of course a must in everyone’s romance collection – “Moulin Rouge!” Yess…the 2001 movie musical. Marvelous script, dances, artistic direction, songs!! I have watched this movie in total of 8 times!! And never fail to get teary eyed at the end…tragic. Until now, my much loved musical of all time.

Some of my personal favorites: (highly recommend for romantic movie buffs)

-          Shakespeare in Love

-          The Painted Veil

-          Across the Universe

-          Becoming Jane

-          Pride and Prejudice

-          Atonement

-          Gone With The Wind

-          Once

-          Casablanca

-          City Lights

-          Cold Mountain

-          City of Angels

-          The Notebook

-          Walk the Line

-          The English Patient

Some of my much loved favorite scenes in a few of the movies listed...

The Notebook - One of the best romantic movies ever, isn't this "kissing in the rain" scene getting too cliche? who cares, i still love it!

Atonement

Now this movie is a tear-jerker and a half. Director Joe Wright’s love for a ‘pretty picture’ doesn’t hurt this movie one bit (romantically-wise). Much like his past work with Pride and Prejudice, Atonement is extremely touching, yet it does not have a happy ending. Knightley and McAvoy’s on-screen chemistry is indisputable and the final kiss they share before McAvoy’s character is taken away to war for a crime he did not commit is beautiful. Real tragic love in war time England – you can’t get more passionate (or more depressed) than that. In Ian McEwan’s novel, Knightley’s character Cecilia says to her lover to comfort him, “Come back. Come back to me.” This moves me emotionally the most, as we know they will never be together as he is away at war in France and she is a nurse stationed in London.
This movie marvels at how an occurrence so diminutive can change and ruin lives forever. It also proves that a film does not have to have a happily-ever-after ending to be truly romantic. Like many romantic dramas.

Becoming Jane

Despite Becoming Jane having some poor reviews, I believe it was a thoughtful and clever movie, packed with romantic scenes that really made it for me. Out of all those scenes, my favorite is when the character of Jane Austen (played by the American, Anne Hathaway) is searching for Tom Lefroy (James McAvoy) at a ball. I adore the anxiety Anne shows and the smart shots used to make everybody in the room appear to look like Tom. Then, when dancing with another, she spins and Tom is suddenly there with a cheeky smile and charming wit, stepping up to be her hero. It is such a simple idea but in those few seconds it provokes such emotion that it could give any man goose bumps.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s

Refined as always, Audrey Hepburn illuminates the screen and gives her best performance ever as the wild and fascinating Holly Golightly, a girl who eventually falls in love with a struggling writer Paul ‘Fred’ Varjak. Tiffany’s is a timeless classic that, while capturing the fun and glamour of 60’s New York, moves people to amusement and to tears in a matter of minutes. The end kiss in the rain is so theatrical and visually stunning that it warranted a spot in my top 10 best romantic moments. Overall it is a heart warming movie that will by no means damage over time.

Moulin Rouge

When Satine (Nicole Kidman) starts singing in the sensuous Moulin Rouge! cabaret club turned theater to the heart-broken Christian (Ewan McGregor), you can’t help but get goose bumps and sing along with the epic duet as they make their final bow. The song, “Come What May” till now remains the best love song in movie history. You can feel the emotion rush through your veins as this couple sings with such passion and certainty. Stunning performances all round, this love story will move, baffle and dazzle its way into your heart.

In other news: My Little “baby” Brother’s birthday today!! He is finally 17 years old

Woah, how time flies…my brother has been waiting so long for this day to arrive. This is because he really has the urge and is extremely eager to drive! Ahah, yea…take over the wheel from his sister and be independent. No more a small boy, he is now a young man…and turning legal in a year. Sigh. It only seems like yesterday that he was a little boy without a care in the world, being naïve and innocent as ever! Hmm…I guess time changes a person, and it’s a bittersweet moment to watch your little brother grow into a young grown-up. It makes you feel aged and over seasoned.

He has been such a wonderful brother, putting aside the bickering and “arguments” or even the mischievous behavior I underwent as us siblings had our rivalry. I have always appreciated him as a comrade and brother, he in fact understood my problems and cared for me *by being protective*, and just making me laugh from time to time. He has been a blessing, and I hope I have encouraged him in his walk with God as well as been a role model in the slightest of ways. I am undeniably proud to have him has my little brother, even though we don’t have the same personality, features, ideas, and attitudes, we have the same love for each other. Thank you for being an incredible brother to me!! Hugs and lots of love!

Peace
Adeline.. :)

Playing Footie...

Chelsea Friendly Match with Malaysia!

Just a few hours before the football match was held, my brother already had tickets to observe the match. I didn’t really feel up for it however after chewing on the subject and contemplating going for this event I decided, why no t?

So I received complimentary Grand Stand tickets from someone *thank you* - he had all the connections and relations with the hosting hotel for the Chelsea team.

Anyways, I didn’t really know what to expect because I haven’t attended a football match before. It was new and exciting, wondering what to expect – the crowd, surroundings, and the game plan/rules. Even though I was pretty familiar with the concept and idea of football I wasn’t a full fledged fan of any football club. The only football matches I watch are during the World Cup, which is always fun! Manchester United (my family’s team)

So we pull together our tickets – all 5 of us, at Palace of the golden horses. When we arrived there was already a long stretch of media and “fans” awaiting the Chelsea team to board the buses to the stadium. The guys were eager to see these well-known footballers in the flesh and in person; Alwin was almost certainly the most frantic one looking for a pen and paper to get their signatures. We waited and waited – after around 45 minutes, at that moment the Chelsea team strides out from the side view of the main lobby with bags around their torso and in small groups. Some were wearing headphones to block out the screaming “fans” and maybe just to seem egotistical, some were talking amongst themselves –oblivious to the bystanders, some we smiling at us and a few were so kind enough to stop for one or two autographs (ehem, Ashley Cole and Joe Cole) Alwin after shouting out Ashley Cole’s name over and over caught his attention and Ashley signed his plain white paper. Lol. And his autograph looked like an egg! Really unimpressive – could have done it myself signature!

I must confess, my first time meeting famous footballers live (1 feet away) was not as hair standing or exhilarating as it would be for the fans, but the guys looked --- really Good! So tall, and fair and attractive. Not to mention strapping and well built – even my guy friends said they were “Hot”

.

The best thing happened next! We managed to get into our car and followed Chelsea’s bus as a part of their convoy!! Only 4 cars were behind the buses – and we pretended to be “LEVEL 0” officials and skipped all traffic! Following behind policemen and we didn’t even need to pay TOLL! It was insanely awesome! We were treated like royalty…

People were stopped and traffic was all put to a hold for us. We all didn’t take photos and tried to blend in by wearing sunnies and looking grim. XD Shaun attempted to look shots, and filmed the event with his hand phone.

Then we followed the buses into an underground VIP parking lot – where all the football players were let out of the buses an into their changes rooms etc. So cool…we saw the players again entering the arena one by one.

Overall, the game was very interesting! Good seats, great company! Malaysia’s football team did amazingly well I must say. I underestimated them. Played strategically and had a few shots at the goal. They nearly got one in, in the first half of the game! (Hit the pole)

High spirits and cheering constantly for the home team as well as Chelsea!

Besides the smoke from smokers in the stadium and grubby boxes of food around or even sweating, the game was entertaining.

I am proud to say, Malaysia showed guts, talent and flair that night! 2-0 (Chelsea of course won) But…compared to China who lost (7-0) and the rest who challenged Chelsea, Malaysia had the best outcome in terms of points. *We can even join the World Cup maybe? Or the English League* XD hehe.

All in all, it was a good First Time for me! My first major live football match…(memorable one too)

Cheers!

-support your local team.

Me and the guys *i can feel the testosterone* XD

A packed stadium full of football lovers and freeloaders...hehe.

Chelsea vs. Malaysia
we await our next "football challenge" bring it on MAN U. XD
Peace...
