| The Beautiful Days of Spring....Butterflying By...Transformation begins in me. The changes that I so desire to see among the body of Christ must start in me. "For this commandment which I command you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it out of reach. It is not in heaven, that you should say, 'Who will go up to heaven for us to get it for us amd make us hear it, that we may observe it?' Nor is it beyond the sea, that you should say, 'Who will cross the sea for us to get it for us and make us hear it, that we my observe it?' But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may observe it." Learn to love the word and smile. | | |
| What do I love? Little kids Old movies Peach tea My moccasins Wet trees Deep blue and purple and red Silence Holding hands Being warm Scarves Being surprised by kind or funny or smart people What do I wish for today? My sister A reason to sing A snuggly bear More love in my heart More truth on my lips More time Be content and smile. | | |
| Good Evening World. Tonight, I am heavy with the awareness that all my praises, knowledge, and even love for and about God are hollow and absurd if they stand indenpendent of an active love for the world around me. A chapel speaker a couple of weeks ago, Richard Mullholand, asserted that the greatest two commandents are not first and second: First- love God with all your heart and soul and mind, and Second- love your neighbor as yourself. Instead, they are one whole and complete commandment: Love God with all your heart and soul and mind BY loving your neighbor as yourself. Do I deceive myself into believing that I can be intimately in love and communion with God while ignoring, judging, belittling, and abandonning the people I come into contact with everyday? God told me tonight that this lie has crippled the church and our power to help, love, and lead people into His Kingdom. It made me wonder....Is that even want we long to do? It is impossible to love God without loving people. As 1 John 2:9 says, "He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now." And also in 1 John 3:17: "But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?" God change me so that my world consists of more than me. I love You some...help me love You more. C.S. Lewis and Smile. | | |
| Well...the school week has ended here at Asbury College and much of the campus has departed for various entertainments and distractions to be found elsewhere during this fall break. I am here. I want very much to really be here. So often, I attend to my daily activities in body only...but where is my heart? To be in this place at this moment is a gift. Gifts are made to be cherished. This moment is made to be cherished. I don't want to live one moment outside of the knowledge of the love of my Jesus. What would it look like to have a life that is filled and overflowing with the reality of God, the fullness of Christ? It would look a lot better and more interesting and meaningful than my life. A song of redemption should, all my life, flow joyfully and thankfully from the deepest reserve of my heart. Talk and smile. | | |
| I realized this afternoon how much I miss writing on here. It can be such a wonderful outlet for my feelings and musings. What would happen if I revived my xanga? hmmm....... The seasons of life are puzzling. They are especially strange when the sojourner's eyes are not on the Master. Not only does He hold this one's today in His practiced hands, He holds all the todays and tomorrows of all of history in His infinite heart. As the traveler walks, it is best if she walks not alone; but with One who knows the way and knows the sorrow of travel so far from cherished home. What a joy of companionship she forfeits when she speaks not to Him or looks not to Him. O Master, let me walk with Thee. Muse and smile. | | |
