I'm finished with my student teaching!  It was wonderful.  My mentor teacher was great, I loved my kids, and the staff at Huffines is really nice.  All in all a good experience.  Now I'm substitute teaching in Lewisville ISD to earn a little money and honestly, to stay around my kids and Huffines.  I've pretty much been in Special Ed classes and content mastery rooms, but I did get to be the gifted and talented teacher for a day.  That was an experience!  They had to write a half page essay on "If life is a cookie, what cookie are you and why?"  They had really creative answers and it was fun to listen to them.  They also read a poem called "I Build Walls" about how people hide their true selves for lots of reasons.  Sometimes the walls are good and sometimes they're not because they can keep out the people closest to them.  Those gifted kids have a lot of walls and it was so good to talk to them about that.  I think the poem made them feel better.  It's interesting because I can tell they enjoy coming to the Gifted and Talented class because they're accepted and understood better in there than most of their other classes.  Needless to say, I've enjoyed being a sub!

I've been applying to districts and looking for jobs like crazy!  There's a position teaching 6th grade math in Carroll ISD that I would LOVE to have.  (Yes...Southlake Carroll)  They are known for their football program as well as strong academics, which is a rare combination.  I spent a lot of time perfecting a letter of interest and finally sent it to the principal today.  Hopefully I'll hear something soon.  (Say a little prayer if you think about it)  I'm also looking in Grapevine-Colleyville, Arlington, Keller, Birdville, and Lewisville.  We are so blessed to live in the heart of excellent districts!

I miss all my Aggie friends (and Rayburn Raiders)  I hope your semester is going well!!  Good luck in the up coming weeks.

This semester is winding down quickly!  Today I have my last final at A&M.  WHOOP!  Then I just have a presentation on Thursday and I'm done for the semester and at A&M (for my undergrad at least.)  Senior years are always full of "lasts" but a lot of "firsts" too.  I'll miss living here and all of my friends, but I'm excited about student teaching and being one step closer to having my own classroom!  (Oh and that little thing about living with my husband....)  I'm student teaching in a 6th grade math classroom at Huffines MS in Lewisville!  The Huffines mascot is a huskie and their colors are maroon and white(WHOOP!!!)  I've already emailed with my teacher and she seems great!  So I'm looking forward to it!

I already miss my Rayburn kids!  I'm helping with their dance on Friday night so I'll get to see a lot of them.  That'll bring back some memories for sure!  Some of you will be shocked to hear that I didn't cry my last day teaching there.  Maybe I'm not as much of a baby as we thought?!

I'm taking Yale's advice and writing a "short" entry (hopefully) more often.  I hope everyone's semester is ending well!

I love my 6th graders!  They wear me out sometimes, but they make me laugh every day!  It's so hard to be mad at them  I've gotten to know them pretty well and sometimes they just do things that I have to "get mad" at them for but they make me laugh so I smile and all looks of "anger" or disappointment lose their effect.  Kids are funny.....

So again today I came home looking like I got into a fight with a blue marker and lost....overheads are not my friend!  Not only do I have evidence of my fight with old blue, but I also smell like vinegar because of all the demonstrations I did today!  Tomorrow my kiddos are going to OPAS jr and I'd love to go with them, but I have class!  Boo!  Soon enough I'll be going on field trips.

Clearly, my life right now is my kids.  Today one of them asked me if I have to leave in two weeks, which I don't, but it made me really sad because I had to face the reality of leaving them soon.  I only have 4 or 5 more weeks with them:(  I'm going to be one sad girl!!!  And we thought the tears at camp were bad...they'll seem like nothing in a few weeks I'm afraid.

And on a happier note: My sister is coming in town this weekend!!  Unfortunately she doesn't have a ticket to the game..sad day!  But she'll be joining us for Yell...not wearing her burnt orange this year!  YAY!  Have a great day!!

so i wrote this really long entry and it got delete....boo...

i LOVE teaching!  my kids are really great and i'm learning a lot about being a teacher.  sometimes the things we're taught don't work in practice.  not that they're bad things and they wouldn't work in other cases, but sometimes you need to try different things to find what works.  i teach every day and it's great!  i really like my mentor teacher.  i'm going to be sad when i have to leave, but that's a few weeks away.

four months ago today i married the man of my dreams!!!!  i love you so much, derek!!

my baby sister is turning 20 tomorrow and she says she's getting old.  derek thinks he's getting old because i'm graduating from college.  (he also said this when i graduated from high school)  so i guess my family things they're getting old or something....

my parents and derek came in town this weekend for the osu game and to see my concert.  we had a really great time!  i miss them when they're gone.  BUT i don't miss my 5 year old dog digging up a part of my brand new carpet in my apartment!  she's NEVER done anything like that before so we got really mad....for like 5 minutes...you can't stay mad at that cute face!  we had a really great weekend.

derek bought gilmore girls season 4 for me!!  i watched it in 3 days!  a few weeks after that seasons 1 and 2 were on sale, so we now own them too.  but season 1 is going back because it is scratched....bummer.  and what's up with season 6 not showing more than about a 8 minute segment?!  it's frustrating!  but i think that lorelai and rory might make up a little bit next week, so that'd be good!!!

so things are going well in cs.  i miss everyone who is working/student teaching/schooling in other cities.  i hope to see all of you soon!!
