Gingerbread!!

Can I just tell you how much I love DeeDee's kids? I love kids in general but THESE kids are really special. So, bein the sweetest kids around, it was time to prove it with our annual Gingerbread house tradition. 2 teams..although people kept jumping ship to address decorating needs of the other house.
When all was said and done NONE of us ever wanted to eat candy again.

Can you try this for me and tell me how it tastes?
STP61249
I think we need more sprinkles

Taa Daa!!!
STP61264
Ahem..excuse me.

Someone kept sneaking a couple licks off the satellite dish.
So, can you tell who had the most fun?
Yep..it was definitely ME!!

zabakdaz.com

OK..so we've been a little busy!
First and foremost I'm proud to announce the release of my husband's new CD:
ZABAKDAZ
The follow up to the movie he's in:
The Nomi Song
the Life and Music of Klaus Nomi.
How is Page connected?
There's tons of info on his groovy website but it's best to
rent the movie and buy the CD and you'll see!!
Watch for the Village Voice interview too.

My book,
Creative Crochet Lace
is in Hong Kong at the printer and is due to be shipped to the US and Australia on Dec. 30th
Barring any problems from customs, I'm hoping to have it available from my website by early February.
(This waiting thing is for the birds!!!)

Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season!
I'm heading in the kitchen to make another batch of cookies.
Those Scharfennberger bittersweet chips are yum.

oKAy! So I've been a leetle bit busy! But this is a good one so I'll take a moment to post.
My dear friend Laurie sent me This here meme from Vashti so here we go:
1. Friends, friends and more friends!! and the opportunity to get together with them twice a year at Chain Link. Partay!! Seriously, Fiber folk are the nicest people I know and crochet folk specifically!
2. Professional Development Day and the Mentoring program. I swear, the education I've gotten over the past several years is invaluable. It's changed my life. Kudos to CGOA!!
3. Art Crochet!! We've got big plans for future CGOA exhibitions.

Free Trade is Not Fair Trade

The expansion of NAFTA called PAFTA, (Click Here)
which will include Peru, Panama, Columbia and South Korea is up for a vote in the next 2 weeks.
As we've seen with the original agreements, the only benefits go to big business at the expense of
small business owners, workers, farmers, (including those adorable little baby alpacas we get our wonderful Peruvian yarn from.... )
super
who suffer the consequences at a very high cost by having to sell their goods cheaper and cheaper to compete.
Each time tariffs and restrictions are lifted on trade with developing nations the whole world suffers the effects of globilization gone wrong.
Any attention to the environment or health care, among a multitude of other things, is tossed aside for the bottom line.
Fair Trade allows the producers of goods to set a reasonable price and calls for fiscal responsibility but the higher prices aren't as attractive to corporations so it's doubtful it'll ever catch on as the business model.
Buy Fair Trade items whenever you can.
Using the word Free is so unfair.
