We had fun.  The greatest difficulty for me when participating in creative activities with Dylan is overcoming my urge to take over, instead of just letting him go with the flow.  Today was a good day for me, because while I gently directed him in regards to creating his rainbow, I took a step back and didn't interfer.

He's now abandoned me to go and play with his cars

This is posted for no other reason than that it is colourful

The weather is damp and dreary this morning.  I'd anticipated the bad weather this weekend, but not feeling lacking in energy and uninspired with it.  The feeling of not being creative will have to be bypassed later this morning, as all week my son and I have been planning to get the paper, paints, pencils and other colourful delights out today.

    Until later..

  • Another shot of my daily routine

    DSC_1451

Despite the fact that I absolutely love and adore my son, I still crave solitude on a regular basis.  I spent many years alone before I had my son and I still look back with fond memories of those years.  I have always shared my life with some amazing friends and family, but I was also quite a solitary individual too.  I loved living alone, adored it infact.  And even now, surrounded by the daily bustle of mothering responsibilities and work, the craving for quiet moments is still very strong at times.

Even if I have 10 minutes to myself each day, I am happy.  And while I am at work, on my breaks I will escape to the local museum square and sit and contemplate if the weather permits it.  This is where I come, this is where I have watched the seasons change and what an amazing view it is   Life is incredibly rich when we're open to the little details that make it so beautiful.

  • Love Thursday

    DSC_1448

Sometimes it's easy to overlook the finer details in life, we're so caught up in daily responsibilities.  I love trees and I love flowers, so what better way to express that than a photo of a tree and flowers combined   I could have quite happily have sat under that tree all day, but turns out the wasps loved those flowers as much as I do!

  • Random pictures on the way home

I took my camera to work with me today with the intention of snapping some shots on the way there (which I did) and snapping some shots on the hour walk home at 9pm (which I did).  Not fantastic quality, but I had great fun taking them....

  • Little streets in England

    DSC_1131

Whenever I say to people that I have never travelled abroad, I am sometimes greeted with a look of surprise.  In the age of global travel, the idea that I haven't travelled abroad is a shocking revelation to some!!

I have never been abroad because...

    1.  I have a fear of flying (actually it's planes that I fear, I have many dreams about flying in the air with my body and I love every single one of them)

    2.  I've never been able to afford it (or if I have, the fear of flying prevents me)

I would like to eventually travel around the major cities of Europe though.  The idea of soaking up the experience appeals to me (and my camera).  And it is something which I can do without having to ever set foot on a plane.  In the meantime, I have Britain and my goodness, what a beauty Britain is.  From the beauty of the Peak District, the Lake District, Glastonbury, Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay, Scarbarough and many more little hidden corners of natural treasures.  Not to mention the intense beauty of the peaks of Scotland and Wales.  At this point in my life Britain has all that my soul desires.

A couple of weeks ago I was playing with the idea of maybe next year travelling alone to Paris, with the Eurotunnel in existence, it's easy to do for the weekend.  Who knows, maybe my camera and I will adore it

  • Our Morning Journey

    DSC_1403

Our bus journey every morning.  Which is usually a peaceful affair unless Dylan attempts to climb into the luggage rack and pretend he's luggage.

Our mornings are nice and quiet affairs.  Dylan likes to chatter away on the way to Nursery, listing his requests for the day... they are usually plenty.

    It's a nice life

    Peace
